HASBRO CELEBRATES TRANSFORMERS 40th ANNIVERSARY WITH MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE PRODUCTS, ENTERTAINMENT AND MORE

For 40 years, the TRANSFORMERS franchise has continuously adapted and redefined itself, culminating in one legacy across generations through innovative products, captivating entertainment, inspiring licensed partnerships, and engaging publishing projects

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – FEB. 6, 2024 – Hasbro, a leading toy and game company, today announced its plans to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the beloved TRANSFORMERS franchise.

TRANSFORMERS made its worldwide debut in 1984 with its revolutionary robot-to-vehicle action figures, bolstered by a comic book series and an action-packed animated series, The Transformers. The launch was a massive hit, and it introduced characters like Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream, and others who became fan favorites and the ultimate heroes and villains of Cybertron. Today, hundreds of robots continue to join the franchise and illustrate the brand’s core ability to change and adapt to new environments while offering a variety of ways to play for a new generation of fans.

“Beloved since its inception in 1984, TRANSFORMERS has evolved from an innovative toy line into a powerhouse franchise embraced by millions of fans around the world,” said Alyse D’Antuono, Vice President, Global Franchise Strategy & Management, Action Brands, Hasbro. “The past four decades continuously delivered a … More Than Meets The Eye experience for fans by introducing new toys and games, as well as thrilling storytelling in animated shows, comics, blockbuster films and much more. As we build the next chapter in the TRANSFORMERS universe, we look forward to celebrating one legacy for another 40 years.”

“When you have a franchise that goes 40 years in this business, it’s pretty remarkable,” said TRANSFORMERS voice-over talent and original voice of Megatron, Frank Welker, “to watch the franchise just build and build and build it is amazing to watch.” Added fellow voice cast member and original voice of Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen, “I’ve always had the feeling this was going to go a long time.”

Drawing inspiration from the brand’s origins in 1984, Hasbro will launch an exciting array of products, promotions, experiences and action-packed content throughout 2024, allowing new generations to discover where it all began.

The Premiere for Rise of the Beasts took place in Singapore earlier today, and it was followed by a news conference where all kinds of questions were asked and answered. You can see the full conference HERE thanks to Reuters on Twitter but here is a breakdown of the more spoiler stuff (do not read beyond this if you want to avoid spoilers):

- There are no Decepticons in the film. The scene of Optimus vs a Decepticon in Brooklyn was removed from the final film. So for all those who doubted how they could fit all those factions in

- The film is officially said to not be a reboot. While it can be said to be a sequel to Bumblebee or a prequel to the Bay films, or even a stand alone film, the panel wanted to make it clear that this is not a reboot.

- Lorenzo di Bonaventura gives a really reductive take on Ironhide. Not a spoiler, but something I wanted to highlight because it really stirred me the wrong way.

- The end credit scene is a hint to a future crossover between Transformers and GI Joe

- There was a planned scene for Charlie, from the Bumblebee movie, to appear but it did not happen. She could be back for a future installment.

Feb. 1, 2023 – Paramount+ today announced the renewal of the original animated series TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK for a second season, which will follow the Malto family and Terrans on even higher stakes adventures packed with humor, heart and family. Beginning Friday, March 3, the next eight episodes of the first season will be available to stream in the U.S. and Canada, with additional international territories to follow. Released today, the all-new trailer and artwork showcases more Autobots, more Decepticons and more Terrans! Twitch, Thrash and the rest of the Malto family will continue to learn what it means to be a Transformers robot, what it means to be human and ultimately what it means to be a family. Making their debut in the series are Keith David (“The Princess and the Frog”) as Grimlock, Alfie Alan (“Game of Thrones”) as Tarantulas and Roger Craig Smith (“Regular Show”) as Breakdown.

“The highly anticipated series TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK premiered with a strong launch on Paramount+, ranking as one of the top five most-watched Kids & Family series,” said Tanya Giles, chief programming officer of Paramount Streaming. “In partnership with Hasbro, eOne and our studio partner Nickelodeon, we’re thrilled to continue telling the story of the Malto family and the new generation of Transformers robots.”

The previously released episodes will continue to debut Fridays on Nickelodeon through March 3.

TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK introduces a new generation of Transformers robots – the first to be born on Earth – and together with the humans who welcome them and care for them, they’ll redefine what it means to be a family.

There's some rumblings on line and it's not from this Destitution Class behemoth trouncing around Cybertron's surface. Thanks to fellow Seibertronians D-Maximal Prime with help from Sabrblade we've learned the word is that Transformers (possibly Siege, possibly not despite those blast effect pegs on his big mug) Unicron is going to be available in Japan through the TakaraTomy Mall!

The original post was found at Autobase Aichi on Twitter:
Transformers News: New Transformers Unicron To Possibly Be Available Through the TakaraTomy Mall

Here's from TakaraTomy directly:

"Wonder Festival 2019 summer Takara Tomy Transformers booth information.
The Wonder Festival 2019 Summer Takara Tomy Transformers Booth, which will be held at Makuhari Messe on Sunday, July 28, 2019, will be full of content!
7/24 (Wed) Blue-ray & DVD will be released from the movie "Bumblebee" corner, The "Masterpiece Rio Convoy", which was announced at the toy show the other day, and became a topic, "Legacy TV-kun," We are planning to exhibit the contents of the group's crowdfunding program!
In addition, we will exhibit Hasbro's global crowdfunding program "HASLAB Uniclon" just announced!
In addition, we will exhibit the latest products of SS, SIEGE and Generation Select."

Global crowd funding you say? This would seem to indicate outside of North America. From further into the announcement which is also the translated text from the image above:

"Hasbro's global crowdfunding plan just announced It will be decided to sell "HASLAB UNICLON" in Japan at Takara Tomy Mall!
We plan to start bookings by the 1st festival day.
On this occasion, it was decided to decorate the prototype at the one-fest venue.
Please check the huge transformers of unmatched size in the past by yourself.
Thank you for your support of crowdfunding!"

And in an update just this morning from Snakasblog:
"7/17 addition : According to the one fess announcement of TAKARATOMY TF official site, there seems to be handling at TAKARATOMY mall in Japan. I think that this sales method is also probably crowdfunding, but there is a statement with reservation start soon."

Now whether this is an opening for crowdfunding, or just a statement that if approved it will also be available in Japan (possibly elsewhere in the world too) is yet to be seen.
*Correction - To clarify this story Takara IS taking orders for this item just like Hasbro is.*
We provide the posts from these various translated sources and ask you to decide. Let us know in the forums and as always stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest Transformers news!

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of Transformers TakaraTomy Mall is releasing a G1 Optimus Prime with a G1 styled recolor/repaint of Studio Series #38 Optimus Prime in a two pack! This version has fast become a fan favorites after it debuted in Bumblebee last year and is now presented with his original release counterpart. Unfortunately neither cab comes with Prime's iconic trailer. The item is currently listed at $100.00US (10,800Y).

Read the product info from TakaraTomy Mall:
"Beyond the time of 35 years, the original and the latest commander appeared in the set.
Shipped with the pkg image at the time of the nostalgic release of the original convoy that appeared 35 years ago, reproduce the design with a header the image of the car robot format at the time.
Optimus Prime studio series version that appeared in the latest movie, g1 toy version changed the color specification based on the image."

And for that image just check out the pics below. We're also treated to a modern update of Prime's classic box art, this time using the Studio Series Optimus as the model. Be sure to notice new paint details like the red on Studio Prime's torso, the blue on the backs of his hands, the lack of black on his shoulder crests and certain ahem, other areas lacking paint that was present on the original release.

Enjoy the views and share your thoughts with the Seibertron crew in the forums! As always stay tuned to Seibertron for the ultimate in Transformers news.

Thanks to news member William-James we have a heads up on some new listing information for the World's Smallest editions of Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Power Rangers.

The first part of this story is the listing for the World's Smallest Transformers over at DeepDiscount.com. It appears listed as World's Coolest Transformers but is specified as World's Smallest Transformers with the current details:
Brand: Worlds Smallest
UPC: 810010990204
Item #: 2162551X
Available Date: 7/31/2019
Model Number: 587
List price $13.00

Then over at TheToyBook.com we have some nice images of the upcoming products from each of the above mentioned properties. The article states from Transformers we can expect Optimus Prime, Starscream, and Bumblebee. From G.I. Joe we'll be getting Snake Eyes, Duke, and Roadblock.
Transformers News: More Information on World's Smallest Edition Transformers, G.I. Joe, Power Rangers
Although there's not specifics on which Power Rangers we will see the image provided does show the Yellow and Pink Rangers from the original U.S. series along with a note about the card backs listing product name placeholders. The card back itself appears to be from the Ninja Steel line of Power Rangers. Although not clear on all images, the power ranger image in the foreground does specify these as key-chain action figures.

Each of these will be an articulated figure on reproduction card backs, which for Transformer fans will no doubt be a big part of the appeal.

Enjoy the images and as always share your view with the Seibertron crew in the forums!
