In my opinion, the point of the franchise is robots that transform. Is it used for disguise sometimes? Sure. But often not for long as humans become aware of them.

In any event, the trailers look alright but then they did for AoE and that turned out to be a steaming pile. As the series has progressed, I admit to have lost interest as the films seem to get progressively worse. I may go see this. I may not. I've not decided yet. Saying that, I still adore the first film and enjoy the third.

I meant that it's not interesting when everyone has a Cybertronian mode ala Wfc/Foc it made sense for Megatron to have a Cybertronian mode due to his character but even then his alt modes looked like garbage plus his TLK while Cybertronian still looks like a human vehicle.

Lost Light and the other comics are good stories but funny enough their not good "Transformers" stories because they don't do anything remotely like Transformers such as just acting like people in superhero comics with them almost never Transforming and even when they do their alt modes are boring or resemble Earth vehicles more then alien ones (my point).

Plus the comics did start on Earth and one third of the comics went back to Earth.

See, I do actually disagree with that to an extent; because part of what makes MTMTE/LL so good is that they're not just good stories which happen to take place in the Transformers universe - they're stories that could only happen in Transformers. Their physiology and biology and the very fact they transform take huge precedence as plot points in many storylines.
I do agree to some degree about the alt-modes not being great though. I like some like Ultra Magnus', but then with Rodimus I just find myself wishing his car mode looked a bit more like the cheesy alt-mode he has in the movie and Titans Return and whatnot.

In any case this is still probably off-topic so I'll stop here, I just wanted to say my piece~

Well yes the stories could only happen in the Transformers universe because they were made up for it but most of those themes are toned down adaptations of real life problems.

Kinda rambling since I'm so darn tired playing that new Mass effect game all night and not thinking straight.

My original point is that when everyone has a Cybertronian mode it's kinda boring I think they only work best when it's just a couple of them among Transformers turning into Earth vehicles and they have a good reason for doing so like Megatron's personality with his views on human or a character stays at the base all the time making no need to get a disguise.

I don't think Transformers would of gotten as popular as it is now if G1 had everyone turning into a Cybertronian mode which would make them a little less identifiable since most of the time an alt mode is reflective of the Transformer's personality something you get less of with alien modes.

Lemme just ask this. Was it boring when everyone turned into either an alien animal or a living vehicle in Beast Machines?

But, to steer back the subject of TLK, at least there are still plenty of Earthen altmodes in this movie.

I never watched beast machines nor will I ever because the aesthetics put me off even if the show might be good because I tend to dislike organic aspects in a Transformers robot mode and I used to dislike it in alt mode too but I've changed my mind since then.

Plus wasn't Beast Machines poorly received overall or something?

But anyways of course there would be Earth modes in a film that takes place on planet Earth.

Primarily arbitrarily because of how different it was, much like how the "trukk not munky" crowd initially derided Beast Wars out of how different that show was. Beast Machines is the most mature (in the correct sense of the word), one of the darkest (in a meaningful way), and the most philosophically-deep, insightful, and thought-provoking TF cartoon we've ever gotten. I love it.

Deadput wrote:But anyways of course there would be Earth modes in a film that takes place on planet Earth.
Naturally, but the original complaints were about the presence of Cybertronian altmodes among the Earth modes, which those who raised said complaints don't want. But I'm with you in knowing that it's at least not all Cybertronian altmodes.

The show I heard has a good story which is great and all but it has to look good as well (for me) because otherwise I just don't get as invested it's like with some people and Transformers Animated or for me my initial dislike of Star Wars the Clone Wars when it was first revealed.

Also last thing regarding Cybertronian modes I have no problem with them existing I only have problems with it when it's everyone that has them and not just a couple of them it's why while I like reading the new comics and consider them good comics I don't think their good "Transformers" comics due to them almost never Transforming at all in fact MTMTE has at times gone through several issues in a row without any Transforming.

Roberts writing style would be much better used in a Tv show or maybe even a movie like improving these live action ones maybe just as long as he keeps the over complicated awkward tumblr-pandering themes (Conjunx Endura :BANG_HEAD: ) or the over excessive tv show references (Swerves) out.

The Transformers: The Last Knight app is now available for download on the app store. The app already has quite a bit of info and activities such as mini games, polls and trivia challenges.
There will be weekly updates for the games and there are unlockables for completing the activities, like wallpapers for your phone. There is also a very lengthy history of all things Transformers including the Quintessons.

The youtube video below gives a rundown of the app for those looking for a visual example of what there is to expect:

Transformers: The Last Knight Spain Event Revealed

Postby WreckerJack » Sun Mar 19, 2017 7:37 pm

Some questions have been answered about a video that Hasbro posed a while back. It had been originally thought to be an advertisement for a mobile game. The video (seen below) is actually a trailer for an exclusive event in Spain to celebrate Transformers: The Last Knight.

When the official website for the event went live TFW2005 member Black Convoy translated what the commercial had said:

“They surround us, they form part of our lives, and now it is the time to put them on the place they deserve to accomplish an important mission because they are the key to save human race and winning the final battle. The time has come to fight and build the definitive Optimus Prime together.”

This statement from the new video is posted on the event website. Transformers fans in Spain can donate used electronics and small appliances to create a statue of Optimus Prime. This explains why the video shows some seemingly random objects. The shield will be made separate and a poll is being conducted to determine the color of the shield.

Well have you ever looked for those compliants?

I know I'm not the first to say it some members on other sites like Tfw2005 have people who dislike them.

Please what's even remotely Transformery about those comics besides characters and some terminology thrown around?

I'd argue that these movies are more Transformer then the comics.

While I'm sure this discussion on what does and doesn't make something transformer-y is all very riveting (I personally believe that as a franchise that has developed over 30 years we have a lot more elements to draw on to make a story feel transformers-y than an arbitrary quota of transformations within a single story), perhaps that is best suited to its own topic rather than the thread focusing on the upcoming fifth Bayformers movie, given this discussion has gone on for far longer than a simple aside.

These are very cool. Liking Hot Rod a lot more now too. He's not very much like the G1 but then that's not always a bad thing (I still wish RotF Sideswipe was still about cos he was awesome even if he didn't look anything like the red Lambo I bought as a kid).
I have anxiety, depression and aspergers syndrome so my behaviour can be erratic. I don't mean offense to anyone. Just very picky about my Transformers collecting. You're all cool! :)

Likes: Bayverse, Marvel UK G1, Geoff Senior art, '86 movie (more for style/soundtrack rather than Star Wars plot)
Dislikes: Bumblebee movie (lousy rehashed dumb crud), TFA, G1 cartoon, IDW G1, BW/BM, MP. The entire concept of Autobot Megatron

And for anyone who reads this Cogman is a headmaster and this is likely his head's bot mode which is why he might lack "car" parts.
