In a way I'm getting a bit annoyed with how they are doing villains in the MCU. The Hulk's villains are likely entangled in rights issues with Universal. Yet none of the Avengers rival teams have even been referenced. 90% of Iron Man's roster has been left unused. Possibly forever. They've even done Mandarin twice and it still isn't the intended character.

Now with have a pseudo Sinister Six, with caveats. Alongside characters from the Sony side projects being introduced without any context or relationship to Spider-Man at all.

It concerns me. Because with the X-Men and Fantastic Four on their way. So to are some of Marvel's most iconic villains. I really hope they will all be brand new casting and not tagalongs from prior films. Rumours suggest one such cameo has been signed for Dr Strange 2. Which I hope is just a visual call back.

Be careful what you wish for, you may not like the alien he ends up fighting... He's been entangled with the likes of Beyonder, Galactus and Gog!

I don't like Spider-Man. Although I had watched all the previous films (when comic book movies were less prevalent), the MCU iteration I found insufferable during Infinity War. As such, I had avoided his solo films. Until I saw No Way Home last week.

Comfortably, in my opinion, the best Live Action Spider-Man film onscreen to date. I'm told Into The Spiderverse is very good. But I haven't watched that.

My main thing is villains. This film does them VERY well.
Through the early Spider-Man cartoons, I am familiar with his most popular foes. Willem Defoe and Alfred Molina are great in everything. But I think they are even better here, than they were previously. I'm quietly confident in saying Jamie Foxx and Rhys Ifans are much improved, in spite of reduced screen time from their debuts. Thomas Haden Church however, is almost completely underutilised in this film. Less a character, more a plot device for set pieces. Which is a shame. As I think he made the character work onscreen in the otherwise unfortunate Spider-Man 3.

Everyone else was great, especially the scene stealing "No.3". It is funny though, going into this one blind to the previous ensemble cast. None of the dramatic moments had the same significance to me. As it did for some fans in the cinema, crying their eyes out.

One thing I really appreciated, was the underlying symbolism of MCU Spider-Man subtly losing all his associated Iron Man trappings, throughout the film. Shedding the "Iron Lad" derision, I've heard from many die hard Spidey fans. Also liked that the mid-credit scene righted a wrong.

For a non-Spider-Man fan, I was very impressed.

Darkhawk
**RUMORED**
https://boundingintocomics.com/2020/11/ ... sney-plus/

Not 100% confirmed..

Werewolf by Night
**Again RUMORED**

https://www.ign.com/articles/marvel-hal ... f-by-night

Not 100% confirmed

These are the top articles I could find on either, both again are RUMORED and have no further definitive information that I can find. Rumors do not mean that we are getting them, we were rumored to be getting better versions of the Inhumans and that fizzled out with that God awful tv show not to mention the half a dozen other rumored things Marvel has promised and not delivered on through the years.

***SPOILERS BELOW READ AT YOUR OWN RISK***

However after seeing a sneak preview of Dr Strange multiverse of madness last night and speaking of Inhumans we are getting a variant of Black Bolt played by Anson Mount who played him in the TV show. and a variant of Mr. Fantastic played by John Krasinski... yes, you read that correctly. Also no Tom Cruise cameo.

Any universe outside of the MCU duplicate characters are variants and not the core ones from the MCU, just remember this moving forward as I have a feeling variants are going to pop up a lot more all over the MCU now after this movie.

That means everyone that appears in the Illuminati is a variant regardless of what happens to them, there are other versions of them somewhere in the multiverse so don't fret after you see the movie ;).

This is the problem. The Avengers, as per the original team, are gone from the MCU now. They left without facing any rival team. No Serpent Society, Masters of Evil, Wrecking Crew etc, etc

Iron Man is dead and his roster was left at three or four onscreen, at most. Two of those were botched. Captain America never fought Red Skull outside of WW2. The list of villain missteps in the MCU is a worrying track record. The Brotherhood of Mutants. The Morlocks. The Horsemen of Apocalypse. The Marauders. The MLF. The Purifiers. The Friends of Humanity. The U-Men.
X-Men has a lot of rival teams. Their absence would be noticeable.
By the same token. They could just kill off Dr. Doom, Annihilus or Galactus with the FF. The precedent is set.

I've seen this talked about before and most of it was put down to the differences between comic books and movies. Put simply, most movie goers expect a more...solid resolution to a movie, and having the bad guys get away every time (or escape from prison every single time) wouldn't go down well with the non-comic fans.

Always Guilty..."
Weapon: Particle Beam Cannon
But that ultimately leads the problem that the Tim Burton Batman films would have had. You kill off all the best villains. Eventually you only have bad ones left. Batman 5 featuring Ventriloquist or Film Freak. Wouldn't have gone down well with non-comic book fans either.

Meanwhile, went to see Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Very Sam Raimi ala Evil Dead, not Spider-Man. Cumberbatch and Olsen really shine, too. Be forewarned, if you haven't seen Wandavision prior, you probably should. 9/10
