Maybe I'm just getting old here, but I have to say this.

WHAT A BUNCH OF WHINY LITTLE CHILDREN ON THIS FORUM!

Good god, people! Seriously! Show some flexibility here! Open your minds to new directions and possibilities! Transformers are all about change. How well would the toys be selling right now if they had never changed the figures from G1? G2 proved that simply repainting figures doesn't work. People- especially CHILDREN (you, know, children...the target demographic...)- get bored with toys very quickly. So they have to do something new. Four years seems to be the maximum that a toy line lasts without an infusion of new and different things...with few exceptions. What I'm hearing here is the usual Geewunners crying that these aren't the figures that they wanted. Well, boo-frickin-hoo. Start your own toy company end make them yourself. How much easier would that Soundwave fig be to make if they didn't HAVE to have the gold "tape deck" in the middle of his chest? Maybe that grey claw could spin around 180 degrees and attach there...I think that would look cool! But noooooo...they have to pander to all you whiny little babies: "That's not Soundwave! Soundwave has to have minions! SOunwave has to have a jukebox crammed in his chest! Soundwave has to be a tape deck (even though most kids today wouldn't have ever seen or know what the heck a cassette tape is!)! WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!" Just accept these toys for what they are! Something new...a new take on a old idea...just like EVERY OTHER TF toyline. And just ENJOY them! They're TOYS!

That being said, I like these figs. Optimus just looks badass...like if you crossed him, he'd rip you in half. I'm not sure how I feel about BB...those red spots on his face (and in the game) remind me of Raggedy Ann dolls; he just doesn't look like a warrior. Megatron is Megatron, but I do like the cannon location on his arm and the overall design, which seems to blend the movie, Animated, and G1 together; a unique and very sleek look for him. And Soundwave is pretty slick. Looks like he has great poseability and I absolutely LOVE the head scuplt. Very sinister.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

I'm just not feeling Soundwave. His proportions are a bit off and he looks like he's on skis. Megatron, however, is looking a lot better to me.

These just keep looking better and better. I love how the designers managed to make them look familiar and also like future robot aliens- something the movies are still failing at.

If the movie bots had managed to look this good- I could have maybe even forgiven robo-testicles.

I'm pleased that Hasbro is being good enough to make this line as a gift to all of us who suffered through the movieverse- shame it will be so short before TF3 comes galloping in.
I'm not angry... I just hate most things.

im just not feeling soundwave. his alts great, but his bot mode looks like something swindle kit-bashed outta spare parts.

Megs however, is total epic win for me, hes realy got that pre-earth mode classics version megatron look going on, even if he just turns into a block with guns

They look very nice. Soundwave has a pretty cool vehicle mode. But there's just something wrong with the robot mode, perhaps he's just mis transformed. Other than that he looks pretty cool.

So far looks like I'll be picking up Prime, Megs and Soundwave from this line. One more Deluxe sized tank Megatron for the ranks. He should look nice next to WWI Megs, and Classics Deluxe Megs, while blasting Gi-Joe Megs away.

It's funny, with the WFC stuff, I really like one mode, but dislike the other.

Love prime and megs bot mods, and BB and Soundwave's alt modes.

Prime I like enough to get right away, but megs,BB and Soundwave will have to be on sale for me to pick them up.

Until my sons' birthdays...then I can get the "for them". 8-}

Until they stop naming them after G1 characters, I don't think people will stop complaining. And when they do, people will complain. I think nerds (and perhaps the human race) in general are just a bunch of complainers. I include myself in that generalization.

Not likely, due to the fact that he is a pre-order DLC character rather than one of the main characters in the game's story.
On top of which, I think that four toys is probably the limit as far as a single game goes.

On another note, I also wish this wasn't so because I wanted WFC Jazz.
In fact I may be the only person who would rather have Jazz than either Bumblebee or Soundwave.

Well, it's like kirbenvost said, he's Soundwave ergo he has to look like him. I personally think that the claw could have just been smaller.

Also, (and I'll probably be proven wrong about this) aren't nerds the ones who buy most of their toys anyway?

Collector's make up 3-5% of their sales maximum, according a a buddy of mine who is a toy sales rep (that's higher than nearly all other on-shelf toy brands; Star Wars is the highest). The rest comes from the target demographic's parents. Honestly, we're lucky that they listen to us at all with that little of an impact in their bottom line. Which is why I hate to see the whining. One of these days they may say, "We can never make these pricks happy. They are always whining. To hell with them. We're going to do what we want." And then where will we be?

Well, I'm not saying the constant internet whinging is right, just that it's inevitable, no matter what anyone does.

*shrug* I try not to let it get to me. And when I myself have criticisms, I try to be constructive about it, or at least pick out the positive aspects as well. I'm not always successful, but I try.

I also stick to my mantra: If I don't like it, I don't buy it.

Hasbro can make what they want, it's up to our us whether we want to buy it or not.

no, it has nothing to do with feedback; it's actual estimated anticipated sales according to their distributors. It's what they EXPECT us to buy. So, if Hasbro sells $20 million in toys, roughly $600,000 is to collectors, which, they can easily do without.

And honestly, sometimes I'd wish they would go in an entirely new direction. I'd like to see something that was NEVER tried before. No Optimus Prime. No Megatron. Go somewhere completely different and never seen before. Let your the engineers' imaginations go nuts. As it is, WE constrain them to certain ideals. I'd love to see something completely and utterly new.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

That's a good question.

I've seen lots of people spout numbers, but I've never seen any actual figures from a major toy company ... or any toy company for that matter. But the number of "collector friendly" lines and fan's choice type figures on shelves out there, and places like TRU devoting space to collector centric stuff from the likes of NECA and McFarlane make me think it is a LOT higher than 5%.

But back on topic ... I'm not super impressed with the Soundwave either. I'm kind of hoping it has either a mis-transform, or can be modified into a better unofficial mode, like was possible with U. Ironhide & Ratchet.

Lot of love hate going on for these. Thought most would be totally into the G1 ish new vibe. I'm getting them. Love the new molds! Optimus looks like SlyStallone's Cobra vehicle ;) and looks a bit tough to transform. All these WFC line look fairly nice... it's the Hasbro specs that seem to always hold them back due to US regulations. Tak/Japan don't have to meet these specs on plastics and such. Although i'm still upset with many paint schemed and mold/platic appliqs that occur; but i'm still hard pressed to say I won't be excited when they hit the shelves!

I dunno...I like Soundwave but Megatron... I see this Megatron as a cross between Animated and movie, and I dunno if that works for me.

My vote for the HOF goes to my favorite Transformer, Kup, to the Headmasters (who still need new figures that aren't just the characters without their master components) and to seibertron.com for for being the ultimate TF resource.

I was looking at the soundwave pictures in there and there was a close up of the chest piece when hes in his alt mode where it looks as if its some sort of tape inside. o.o It appears as if the chest opens also but its hard telling because they didn't really show it so it could just be something to make it appear that way but if you look it seriously looks like it opens up just like the original g1 soundwave. O_O This makes me want it even more..even if it doesn't do what it looks like it could, its nice to know they put that much detail into him like that. x3
We are so much more then mere machines, intelligent robots who think and feel. Yet, we have fell to greed and destruction by our own causes! From this moment I stand my own ground, on my own faction to achieve true unity! :CON:
