Dubbing quality has improved vastly over the years. But that's hardly a concern for me as I rarely ever buy domestic releases these days. =(

It is shameful really, I should be supporting the industry. But with the volume I would purchase I don't know where I'd keep them all.

Ah well, they still have my money for general merchandise.

Ah well... back to work.

My main problem with dubbing is lip-sync. I know it can look odd when the words don't match the animation, but it sounds odd when the words don't match the storyline\situation.

Unless you're Manga Video and you use swears every other word.

So I just got done watching the latest episode of Jigoku Shoujo, and I have to say... please stop the nonsense.

If it weren't bad enough that some of the previous cases, the last season included, had absolutely stupid reasons to commit their souls to hell just to take revenge on one other person... this one really takes the piss.

So...

Say a guy takes you under his wing, teaches you to be more self confident, shows you how to be stronger and stand up against people who have been bullying you your whole life. You'd feel pretty indebted to him right?

So if this guy then gets scared when a gangster boards a bus and starts harassing another passenger would this be automatic grounds to curse him to an eternity in hell, along with yourself?

Christ, he might be your hero and all but he's still human, people get scared, you're living proof you weasel. I cannot believe the absurdity of some of the conclusions that come out of this show.

Hey all, came back after my long hiatus, as for anime/manga mostly been reading Sgt. Frog ( currently on volume 9) and started to re-watch Ghost in the shell.

Velcome back.

I'm doing good. Nothing related to the topic to report at the moment though. Most of my time has gone into playing FF8. I just rescued Rinoa from the Sorceress' Memorial. That's pretty much my favourite part of the game over and done with so now it's just the last token dungeon crawl to Ultimecia.

I suppose I can give a list of what I'm watching at the moment though:

And yes FFVIII imo the most underrated game in the FF series and personally one of my top favs. So many boss fights ( boss battles were always a high in FF games for me

) a great mini game, imo a cool storyline and some cool characters, Quistis being my fav. The idea behind Ultimecia's Castle was genius imo ( starting out with nothing and slowly rebuilding yourself back up was a nice challenge. The summons are my fav in this game, especially Diablos and Doomtrain

Hmmm you may have sparked my interest to replaying the game

. The only drawback i had with the game was stocking up on magic, it became tedious at time :O.

How has Detroit Metal City been? Looked interesting and i'v heard some good things about it.

To be honest, I've always found FF8 a little lacking in the actual game department. The "puzzles" are painfully easy and the enemies are way too easy as well. But damn it, I love the story so much, because I am a sucker for love stories and every time Squall carries Rinoa over the train tracks and I go through Ragnarok and the Sorceress' Memorial I always tear up without fail. I'm such a woman. :sad:

The Dollet mission and the Parade mission are so visually bad ass as well.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming FF:Disidia though, that's going to be awesome. I do question a few of the characters choices they've made.

Ex: Seymour would really have been a better choice than Jecht for the FF10 villain. And I would have liked to have seen Adel instead of Ultimecia. Mostly because I want to settle once and for all what gender Adel actually is. (I have been convinced all these years that Adel is actually a man.

) And also because Adel is really quite badass looking.

Anyhoo...

Detroit Metal City is really really funny, and well worth a watch. The soundtrack is also fun because of the horrendous lyrics. I just wish it was in English so I could offend people with it. But I can only do that with the last track "f**k" because they basically just shout "f**k" over and over until the song ends.

ok i admit that the actual FFVIII game is easy compared to some others

. But the story was well done and pretty realistic...as far as flying machines and monster can be >.>

I Always though Adel..was an It >.>

The finally Villain in FFX if you remember was that pathetic Yu Yeveon thingy....which you were pretty much given to win. i felt that Seymour should have been cut down in terms of how many times we fought him, i rather fight him twice for some epic battles rather then 4 times. After his second fight he was a breeze for me to defeat

Yu Yevon was not enough of a physical presence to make him a decent candidate for Dissidia though, Seymour or Shuyin are the only real candidates for FF10 villain. Jecht wasn't even bloody evil. =(

Hmm true true, Jecht was fun fight but he wasn't evil at all just forced into his "boss role" Seymour was truly the only evil entity in FFX.

Awww yes they are.. i want to hug em both >.>...then again i feel sorry for Quistis, she wanted Squall too...and she has a whip...i couldn't say no to that ;;)

. Even though in you're pic a TF is about to blast em into Oblivion!!!

No worries. Quistis has a whole legion of Trepe Groupies to keep her company.

It's funny how she is the only main character without a partner. =o Even Zell got the library girl.

on a side note, Edea ( in the sorc outfit) was amazing..i'd have love to
have been her "knight"

Episode 4 of Kurogane no Linebarrel was surprisingly good, especially toward the end where it really picked up the pace. After the last two "meh" episodes it was quite a relief actually, hopefully it will be kept up.

Still loving Kemeko DX as well... EmuEmu is so cute... It's hard to decide who I like more, her or Izumi. "Why not both?" Is what the darkest recesses of my brain are telling me. But EmuEmu is only cute when she's not inside Kemeko. =( Then she's just funny, scary and a little annoying.

That is a series I just recently try getting back into, but this time with the sub. Still like 200 episodes off from where they are currently anime wise, but heck of better then trying to watch the dub. Decent anime, but wouldn't make any of my top list.

I don't think I seen any of the anime Tekka listed there or even heard of 3/4 of them lol.

Don't worry I havent heard of any of them, Tekka's some kind of Anime guru

Started watching Ghost in the Shell again today, forgot how good it was, left it when the second disc dind't work, Im watching it somewhere else now

Kinda forgot about Code Geass aswell for some reason, it had potential, might have to get back into that

also left Naruto, till they dub the last 20 episodes (hurry up all ready!) and when are the gonna get round to dubing Shipuden?

-Kataron really wants to team up with Celestial Being, and Celestially being really doesn't want them to.

-More war orphans? Why??

-Soma is apparently going to be adopted by Sergei Smirnoff, which is weird, because she's 23, well above the age where adoption really doesn't matter anymore.

-Saji's hate is still very misdirected. He's still working under the assumption that everything bad that happens to directly the cause of Setsuna. Claiming that those kid's parent's died "Because of a world you created." Can someone just Bright-slap him and make him shut up?

-Wow, a Feddie who isn't a total dick? That's new. But it's Sergei, so it makes sense.

-Gra--Bushido really takes his One-Man Army deal seriously, breaking formation and ignoring orders with "I don't feel like it!"

-Wow, so Allelujah went totally Hallelujah on a guy. It was awesome.

-So Saji freaks out because what he told the Feddies was used by the A-Laws to kill a bunch of Kataron guys, and possibly the War orphans I mentioned earlier.

-So, wow, Ali was able to destroy and entire damned country with his Throne-esque Mobile Suit. And Bushido thinks disobeying orders makes you a One-Man army.

It's a way of life.

I just got done watching the last episode of Detroit Metal City. It was pretty good and I laughed a lot especially during the second half. They really pushed the boundaries of what they can show with the random blowjob in the background. Sooo funny.

There was no resolution to the relationship between Negishi and Yuri though, that was a little disappointing. But hey, who knows, maybe some time in the future there will be a new set of stories. I need to watch the movie at some point, I don't think I'll find it as entertaining as the series though.

It's been a good run, and I have throughly enjoyed watching it. Great stuff.
