Well, what were you expecting, a drill gun? They said they were going to give us 5 new heads, so unless you're willing to skip the combiner head, one of them was always going to have a normal head >:oP

Besides, there's not much precedent (like, none at all actually to my knowledge) of them doing any re-tooling besides heads, so Ramhorns drill would be a first.
The drill isn't from Fun Pub. It's believed to be preexisting tooling from Hasbro/Takara that hasn't been used yet.

In the past, Fun Pub has retooled new wings for BotCon 2007 Thrust, and a new neck piece for BotCon 2014 Scorponok. But other than those, it's mostly been new heads.

You do know that in the cartoon it was their bodies that glowed red when the meeting began, right? We see them enter the room colored gray, and when they each turn on a red light on the table, their bodies physically glow red upon their touching the table lights. The lights on the table aren't illuminating the three as we see the bright overhead white light shine directly on Ram Horn and Sea Clamp, revealing them to still be red when exposed to that much brighter light than the little lights on the table. In short, the three are Color Changers.

Let us not forget that there are several toys that are just straight repaints. They cannot afford to do full on retools. Last year Packrat was a straight redeco as was Oilmaster without his shell. :BOT:

Actually, I think these guys having the same red color scheme may be what wins me over. That's been a huge complaint with combiners, box sets, etc. They don't look like an integrated, coherent design.

But these three red guys will display really really well together. I hope they do more unified color schemes in the future... Hasbro and Takara included.

This is the first time in a while that I've seen someone praise a combiner for having a coherent color scheme. That Victorion does is among the many complaints people have about her deco.

Yeah, even though the fans chose the scheme... I still think Victorion could have been so much better in non-Christmas colors. Certainly not Hasbro's fault. I think the only thing Hasbro can do to salvage that situation is to ... actually....sell... Victorion.... at... Christmas.

But yeah, a good integrated color scheme can do wonders for a combiner. I think God Neptune is the best example of a winning, integrated combiner scheme out there. (Aside from Devastator, of course.) There are a number of jewel-tone accent colors to give each toy a little different personality (gold, copper, dark teal), but there is an overall white and gray unified primary scheme. Looks great combined and split up. You can tell they are a team.

Actually thinking back, ALL of the seacon variants have had pretty nicely integrated color schemes... right down to the recent Kabaya one.

Superion also a great example — sporting an almost monochromatic red scheme, though there are a few gold accents. Rail Racer also fantastic in blue and white. PowerCore dino combiner also integrated nicely. (I thought those were all very under-appreciated. Very cheap and fun sets. Great bang for the buck.)

Hope Hasbro is reading this. There have been a few shining examples of a great color scheme out of a LOAD of hodgepodge looking mismatched frankensteins.

Mine's less of a prediction but more of a preference: Hot Spot. For five reasons.

1. A fire truck and a lobster are both affiliated with water.

2. The Hot Spot mold has thin legs and broad shoulders, much like what Sea Clamp's original toy had.

3. Using the Hot Spot mold and not the Onslaught version of the mold would keep it from being too similar to the TFSS 4.0 Thunder Mayhem combiner that uses the Onslaught torso.

4. I really don't think any of the torso molds are appropriate enough matches for Sea Clamp, but the Hot Spot mold seems to be the least-inappropriate for the three reasons given above, for the one reason I'm about to give below, and because I really don't see the Optimus/Motormaster mold working for Sea Clamp very well, nor the Silverbolt/Cyclonus mold (Sky Lynx wouldn't be available for the Club to use just yet).

5. The Hot Spot mold can do this:

Just fold down the ladder to make it less scorpion-like and more lobster-like. ;)

That's why I really like Victorion with the matching scheme and the Aerielbots and protectobots all have fairly uniform white and red decos (with blue thrown in for Defensor). Makes them look pretty slick and uniform :BOT:

I too like it, but the mock-up paint lost points for being garish, almost neon versions of the color (at least the pics make it seem that way, even if it isn't) and the scheme overall really could use a tertiary color to help break up the red and teal >:oP

Actually, I'm kind of excited about Ramhorn, although I won't get the set just for him. I will get the Nosecone repaint, however, if they make it. Cicadacon looks decent; love the design on the wings.

Skydive's wings are more akin to those of MW Skywarp/Thundercracker. Perhaps Air Raid or Firefly would have fit better for MW Megatron/Megaplex.

I still think it's not a coincidence that David Kaye is coming to Botcon this year and that prototype of FOC Grimlock with the Beast Wars Megatron hasn't been released.

Totally going to be in one of the Souvenir Sets. I guarantee it. It'll sport the Transmetal Paint Job too, just like Tarantulas.

Maybe something for the Subscription Service in the future...
Skydive's wings are more akin to those of MW Skywarp/Thundercracker. Perhaps Air Raid or Firefly would have fit better for MW Megatron/Megaplex.

Oh, but the headsculpt. In a solid color it looks very Megatron-ish.

I probably never noticed before because my Skydive spends so much time as a leg.

Not unless this is another pre-beast set like 2006 was. No beast modes for the show characters.

And if it's a story about the Council, don't expect to see Megatron either. He was beneath them. A lowlife criminal thug, far from a politician.

Well, not entirely. He was the protege of Cryotek, the most notorious criminal on Cybertron. Before that he was apparently a field commander and had a fight with another of the Council's agents, Magmatron, so presumably they were aware he had some talent.

They also acknowledge Megatron as "brilliant" during the Agenda, so he must've done something prior to stealing the golden disk that impressed them.

Could simply be a side two-pack... out of the storyline and continuity.
