Pretty much the entirety of the Seibertron community has notified us of two new video reviews for the Transformers Titans Return toyline, so here they are for your viewing convenience: Wave 3 Voyagers Optimus Prime, with Titan Master Diac, and Megatron, with Titan Master Doomshot!

The new triple changing molds with a land vehicle (truck and tank) and a plane feature, respectively, an homage to Generation 2 Laser Prime (and maybe some Star Convoy), and a probable ringer for Octane, while Megatron is probably a pretool of an upcoming Blitzwing. Check the clips out below!

That was G1 though and this is 2016. There's a big year gap, Hasbro should be able to get rid of most of the unneeded hollow-ness by now.

:MAXIMAL:

The goal of cutting down on plastic and costs is pretty timeless. Though I do wish they would sculpt something inside of the hollow parts. Pipes or circuitry, sort of like what we're seeing more of in the hollow parts of the figures.

Well, I checked 8 Walgreens stores in my general area over 2 days and found all of wave 2 in multiples, at various prices from $18-$20 (only time I've seen them so far), but no Brainstorm. Maybe I should have asked some employees if he was in the back but I felt foolish enough going into a drug store just to buy a toy. I'm northeast of Atlanta, checked Lawrenceville, Duluth, Suwanee, and John's Creek areas. Still need to head up to Buford and Sugar Hill but I'm not holding my breath. The website says they have the figure at some of the stores I checked, which has not been true, so consider their locator to be bunk.

Haven't watched the Optimus review yet; much more interested in finally getting a Voyager Megatron after so long.

-I'm loving that Titan Master integration in jet mode. Very cleverly done and it still has room for the cockpit to transform
-The tank barrel being on the bottom of the jet is great, and the tank barrel being made up of the optional weapon means you can choose how the jet looks
-Both vehicle modes look really nice and sleek
-The fusion cannon as the tank barrel looks AWESOME
-Very impressive and effective transformations. Great use of paneling and space
-It's looking like you can choose whether the turret points up or not in robot mode meaning you can differentiate Megs and Blitzy more. Same for whether you want the wings out or not it seems
-IMO it scales perfectly with the Classics Optimus I love so much

And I have to stop bullet pointing here because... oh my god. That robot mode. Solid. Threatening. Imposing. Bulky. Downright beautiful. The SDCC in-hand mistransformations and the render were worrying me a bit, but now I actually see it in a review? He's perfect. You couldn't make him better if you tried.
Unless it turns out Takara is using this for Megatron (which I find pretty unlikely), this is definitely going to be my perfect numero uno Megatron both for classics and for MTMTE. This is a very well done job and I'm very impressed with it.

There's a few minor quibbles, though. The chest stickers don't look great - and it's a crying shame there's no autobot sticker. The Fusion Cannon looks a bit... dinky in robot mode which would have been fixed perfectly by the Titan Master gun extension... if said gun was black. And there seem to be some very loose hips on the dude as demonstrated when Peaugh tried to put Doomshot on. But QC issues aside these are fine for me - Reprolabels can fix the first easily and I'm using him mostly for MTMTE which means I don't really need the Fusion Cannon unless I go all-out DOTL.

But again, minor quibbles. It's just a couple knocks to an otherwise incredible looking figure and I really can't wait to pick him up :D

(also the galvy head looks kinda funny on him)

Really liking Optimus too. Nowhere near as excited for him as Megatron but he looks to be a really solid figure; that truck mode is ace with the tanker detailing.
Also happy about the option to put down the shoulder pylon G2 thingies and extend the wings out. I know these 'display options' are just there for Blitzwing and Octane, but I still like that they give you options. More G1-ified Optimus with a wingpack all the way baby!

Wasn't expecting Prime and Megatron to be the different sizes, or for Prime to be slightly shorter than the Classics mold. I guess they're making up for the massive CW mold. Seeing the review I have to admit that I do like him more than I thought I would and it's nice to see that there is an alternative shoulder transformation so make him a little more Star Convoy (or Octane) if we really do get that alternate Titan Master. I won't be popping up the extra antennae, they look dumb so far from his head.

I wonder just how they'll retool Megatron into Blitzwing? I imagine they'll only have to replace his chest and abs which should be easy enough. But what about the weapons? I can't picture him coming with Megatron's cannon. I'm thinking maybe a shorter canon with a Titan Master seat at the base like an extension of the turret as well as his sword?

I have a feeling I'm going to be owning a lot of figures based on these two molds.

They'll probably keep the Titan Master gun and replace the Fusion Cannon with the sword. Can't imagine there being much more retooling than the chest and abs, yeah.
Optimus... I don't think Octane came with a gun so that'll probably be replaced. Shoulders will probably be retooled, maybe the legs? Think that's about it.

But man... considering Astrotrain's already a success, they nailed the Decepticon Triple Changers this line. Now if only Broadside can be good then together with Thrilling 30 Springer and Sandstorm we'll have a perfect run of the six G1 Triple Changers.

Can't help wondering if Blitzwing's front will be Megatron's back, Sideswipe/Sunstreaker and Blast Off/Strafe style.

Far more likely that the chest will be replaced - after all, Megatron's chest ends up in the same place Blitzwing's chest did on his original toy (just behind the cockpit).

It'd be very cool if they brought that tactic back though, especially with all the Triple Changer pretooling in TR. Maybe we'll see it for Broadside > Tidal Wave?

Precisely the reason I ordered it online I tried 2 stores that supposedly had stock and didn't.

Super excited for Megatron. The mold looks really good for the most part. The deco, not so much. I'm still hoping Takara does their own version but they'll probably just release Blitzwing. I may get the Reprolabels set whenever that comes out and I'll definitely do some repainting.

I think I am going to fold the shoulder pylons on Optimus back in jet mode to help make him look less like he has truck cabs on the side of the plane.

Overall, I am looking forward to both of these. I don't need a new Blitzwing or Octane, so I will get Optimus and Megatron. Hopefully Reprolabels makes an upgrade for Megatron with Autobot symbols so this can be my Lost Light Megatron.

These both look absolutely amazing. I don't have an Optimus-Megatron pair in scale with each other, so these will definitely fill that hole in my collection. Maybe I'll have MP-10 and MP-36 standing behind them... :-?

500 Pages Yay !!!

------

Ahem, anyway I can think of some other annoyances as bad as hollow toys.

1) Removing joints that previous version of a mould had - for example the hinge on Leader Jetfire's back that Starscream etal don't have.

2) Using the same piece on both sides instead of making a left and right part - 3rd parties like Fansproject are getting into the bad habit of doing this especially.

3) Stickers used to add decoration can be a good thing or a bad thing some could argue that the stickers should be included or that the details should be painted on or tampographed on. - Personally I just wish the special stickers Hasbro Asia makes were easier to get.

The first isn't really that common and sounds like a problem exclusive to the Jetfire mold. What exactly did that hinge do?

What do you mean by the second exactly

I was six when those were released, so...yeah, couldn't get 'em. I'd love to have those too, though. Specifically the Henkei versions. The Platinum re-release doesn't really tickle my fancy.

Lol, tell me about it - I was 10. Only ended up getting Classics Optimus because there was a heavy sale on that TRU-exclusive Classics/Evasion Optimus 2-pack - it's still my favourite CHUG Optimus and I wanna see if this one's any better. Seeing they were about the same size was pretty surprising though considering the Classics Voyagers feel a tad small compared to most modern Voyagers.

MEgatron maybe only figure I buy from this series with some modifications to his gun like to see third part make better canon for him in bot mode prime not liking if I buy megatron I be buying blitz wing as well if Hess made.

I never like stickers on my figures make them look sometimes tacky and cheap looking it work for generation one toys but not toys pf today having them peel up over time he forgot to mention generation one blitzwing figure has jet parts showing in tank mode and jet mode, they should make octagons wings longer make plane mode look little better

That is a bit odd, isn't it? But, to be honest, I don't mind that. I feel like Prime and Megs shouldn't be the biggest guys around, as long as they aren't dwarfed by their entire armies.

Yeah, especially when Optimus is usually surrounded by Deluxes (autobot cars) or guys that are supposed to be bigger than him anyway like Jetfire and Magnus.

For Megatron though... it's a bit difficult especially if Soundwave's a bit bigger than him. It's one of the things that puts me off the Classics figure, but this new one is just perfect. I'm so excited for him :D

Just watched the video reviews for these new OP and Megs molds, but I'm not convinced... I think they'd do great for Octane and Blitzwing, but not so much as OP and Megs. I don't like the tank mode much, nor the OP jet mode. Too much kibble that distracts from the vehicle mode. They can do SO much better imo. Maybe I've been spoiled, and triple changers are more difficult of course, but these two aren't gonna make my wanted list.

Megatron does nothing for me as Megs. But I'm sure I'll pickup Blitzwing.

Prime on the other just presses all the right buttons. Plane mode is not all that good, but I doubt I'll transform him into the plane more than twice so its not that big of a deal. I have no attachments to Octane / Tankor so i'll likely skip that retool.

I do hope for a Scourge repaint with a lot of chrome.

Though nothing can beat the original.

After watching the reviews, I feel very happy but also just the slightest bit disappointed.

Megatron is a really good looking bot. I'm still going to wait to see if the Blitzwing version can go with Skytread's head or if they make a real Flywheels before I get him, but at the same time I feel he is one that I really do need to get no matter what. The T30 Blitzwing is still good for me, so I won't be picking up that version for him as Blitzwing, only Flywheels if they work. The only bad thing about that mold is the stickers. They don't look any good to me. Those chest stickers have the background colors that should have gone on the CW Leader figure, and look daft on this version. Plus, I had really hoped for optional Autobot symbols...

Optimus looks good as well, but I most likely will not be getting him. I'll be waiting for Octane. I already have the BC Prime voyager and I will be getting the leader version of him if he comes in that boxset that is being rumored so that way I can get Godbomber with him and that will be my titanmaster Prime. Though maybe down the road, maybe I will get him, maybe...

Huh, for a while I thought I was the youngest guy on here. I figured most people here were G1ers in their late thirties. :-?

Anyway, Hasbro has really made a smart move with the pretool releases. If Blitzwing had come out first, there's no way I'd buy that Megatron, I have Megasteel's Origins Megatron and I love it. That said, I really like that grey jet mode and am afraid that if Blitzwing comes out looking like crap, Megatron will be unobtainable by then. So, I may buy it and put a different head on it.

Optimus is a pass from me. Missed out on G2 so no love lost, no love found.

I'd much rather be talking to competent adults who share my interests than with many people my age, honestly. But I'm glad to find people of my generation here as well. I sometimes feel like my school is filled with idiots...

But enough about that! I was originally was going to go all in on this line, and I still want to. But, because I am a sixteen-year-old with no disposable income, plans had to be changed. Therefore, the only thing I'll be getting everything of are the deluxes, because those as a whole are relatively cheap and easy to come by, and seem to be consistently of good quality.

I'm hoping that Takara does a Generation 2 themed pack with both of the triple changing voyagers from this wave.

Optimus Pringles is a pass!

The stickers on Megatron are off putting and his arm cannon is too small IMO but I may give the Takara version a try since it's clear that Hasbro's version of Megatron is an after thought to what's clearly a Blitzwing mold. So Maybe Takara will put in little more effort in theirs...?

If it's the same treatment Legends Astrotrain got, we'll be in for a treat.

That said, out of the 6 Triple Changers, only Springer and Sandstorm aren't Headmasters now. Springer could share forms with Battletrap like the BotCon toy if there's one planned, but Sandstorm... :-?

Megatron looks pretty solid in tank mode, jet mode's pretty much Blitzwing's, robot mode looks solid, not bad looking I have to say. Prime looks pretty small for me (a la DOTM Megatron, only with no swivel for the trailer), jet mode looks weak, Bot mode once again looks solid, not fussed with the optional antennae.

They make some neat figures overall, but I'd prefer their retools of Blitzwing and Octane. Besides, I'm fine with my Classics Prime and Megs. I personally prefer how they're stylized while looking like their old selves without any gimmicks (other than transformation). And what about those toys as Super Megatron and Scourge? Not into Supertron, but Scourge? I am so in!

Gnaw looks neat, glad to finally get Kickback, and it's nice to have a Classics style Bumblebee at a Legends scale.

Only this smaller, less expensive version could get me to buy a Gnaw....

Out of all the stuff shown, I'm getting everything except for Kickback and Gnaw. Megatron looks fantastic, Optimus is pretty cool (I'm liking that you don't have to put the shoulder pylons up), and Bumblebee reminds me of Animated Activators Bumblebee (which was my first TF, so I'm pretty nostalgic towards it).

Why aren't you getting Kickback or Gnaw?

:-?
I wonder if Optimus Prime will be Star Convoy in the :TAKARATOMY: version?
i Bet Optimus will be retooled as Octane (that would be awesome)
I was hoping too for Super Megatron too in the :TAKARATOMY: version too?
Blitzwing will be perfect here, the only problem here are his weapons :CON:
