Yep! I got these paintbrushes from Amazon a while ago, and they have these thin plastic covers that are the perfect diameter to fit on the existing smokestacks. So, I cut one in half and painted them silver, and they work great!

Dunno about where you are but here in UK I asked about upcoming releases while in Forbidden Planet yesterday and Long Haul was scheduled for 5th August except they've had him on the shelves for at least a couple of weeks already (since I bought mine there 2 weeks ago). Don't know about where you are. It's strange. I've never seen Rampage or Scrapmetal for sale in the store and barely online. Very limited stocks apparently.

Went to the model shop where I normally buy paints and got me a couple brushes that had the plastic tube cover. So I'mma try that. Thanks for the idea. :D

Is it ok that simply just the new ab piece is what just made me order DotM Optimus just now off a UK ebay seller? I got a lil too excited even though I supposed to be saving monies. Oh well, I should have it in a few days. For now I better go Ziffit some books/dvds and ebay some stuff to recoup the cost. :P

Honestly with SS, especially when it comes to exclusives, I'm not sure what *standard* pricing is, but I do know sites like BBTS tend to price hike, so it takes quite a significant price drop before they are actually what most would consider to be a *good deal*. I honestly wasn't sure with this one, just thought I'd throw it out there as a courtesy.

I had a look out of curiosity and yeah it's sold out. :P

ZeroWolf wrote:Nice can't wait to see your pics :D

Yeah I'm sorta half thinking I shouldn't have spend that much money (it's not a crazy price. About £52 including delivery for a Leader class set is very fair) for a figure I mostly already have. And it's the third time I'll have bought some version of that mold in just over a year or so. But yeah I wanna have a go at it. It's my birthday treat to myself (12th is my 40th... which feels all wrong cos I'm technically achieved much less than most 18 year olds due to my condition) cos nobody actually buys me presents anymore.

I'll put the tall smokestacks on for some of the truck mode pics to show what a difference it'll make to the overall look probably before any painting attempts. I'd like to paint the trailer silver but that's gonna be difficult for me to do well (since for a smooth job it'll probably require spraying and I can't do that here). I definitely want to paint the missing blue strips at top and bottom of the trailer though.

I should be ok. But damn it's difficult even collecting a reasonable affordable line like Studio Series when not had a proper job in over 7 years due to health condition stuffs. I sell what I can and make a lil bit extra here and there but I'm mostly just on employment & support allowance. So I shouldn't reeeeally be buying 50 quid figures. :P My birthday itself is costing me over £200 in flying up to Edinburgh for one night (hotel is £80 by itself) to go support my friends in the drama group I'm in for their two productions they're doing all week up there. I couldn't afford to join them on stage for those ones. I just doing the home show stuff here in town. :)

But yeah no chance of Masterpiece Movie figures for me. :P

Hey happy early birthday Carnivius! Hang in there man remember, one step at a time, one day at a time. Aim for two to three things to get done in a day and if you don’t get those things done, it’ll be ok. My wife taught me that it totally helped me through my own tough times. You do deserve a treat here and there, it’s what makes it all worth it. Especially a Transformer on a birthday ;)

Till all are one pal, hope the support stuff goes well! ;)^

Thank you. Damn i wish i had a wife. Haven't even had a girlfriend during my entire 30's. A few false starts and that's all. Bit weird. But yeah I do my daily routines and try to push myself and there are some things I can do fine and others are like super difficult yet most folk do them without even a second thought. I'd like a new brain but I stuck with this gooey melted one. Never mind. I feel bit less bad about ordering DotM Prime today though. Not sure why. But I am looking forward to painting it up a bit and having both Jetwing and Jetpower Optimus at same time. Plus good ol' SS05 Optimus who has no jetpack but he's still a lovely dude in his own way. I'm in a very tired state today and that's ok.

Hope everyone's been having a nice week and enjoying Transformery toy things. :)

Been there. Nice to know I’m not alone. Not weird - don't hold yourself to some preset standards. You’re on your own path friend, and that includes Transformers, which automatically sets you at a high bar I mean come on now we can all agree on that

I still can’t believe they did Jetwing and the weapons ring. Studio Series mostly rocks it there’s a few misses but mostly I love em. I don’t particularly love this version of Prime but I love what they’re doing.

A DotM Shockwave better be on its way.

Thanks. Yeah I'd like a new Shockwave. The first toy was good but I'd like one a bit less flat, and more curved this time to do a better job of looking like the CGI model.

Just for funsies here's SS32 Prime in robot mode with the removable smoke stack extensions left on. I dunno why it amuses me. Plus this figure just poses so beautifully. I love this mold so why not own it again with a big trailer of guns and wings and stuff?

Thanks again to YouTuber PrimeVsPrime we have a video review of Transformers Studio Series 44 Leader Class Jetwing Optimus Prime! Yes, it's a fully loaded weapons ring, it's also a jetpack, and I believe the fine print in the instructions mentions something about a refrigerator and a full orchestra, but don't quote me on those last two.

Of note from PrimeVsPrime, " ...this figure (is) also improved upon the previous version, by adding pins to panels that previously popped off the SS 32 Optimus Prime."

Give PrimeVsPrime's review a whirl then swing back by here and share your thoughts with the Seibertron crew in the forums. As always stay tuned to Seibertron for the ultimate in Transformers news!

The shield is a bummer, but that's really the only negative for me. I'm SO excited for this figure, I went out and bought the paint I'll need for it the other day. The extra weapons are ready to go, I have smokestacks, and the parts from SS-05 are painted up and ready to swap. I just have to decide whether I'll leave the dark gray on Prime as is or if I'll paint it silver. :-?

I just hope it arrives a little sooner than Pulse's estimate, otherwise I won't see it till Christmas.

Now I want the scene where the trailer transforms at the start of DOTM but instead of weapons all the Autobots fly out, instruments in hand.

I’m so glad they painted the abs section. I think they should have went with a lighter shade for the trailer if they weren’t gonna paint it. It’s such a contrast compared to Prime himself with the rims being a dark shade. I little blue paint for the running lights would have enhance the trailer considerably.

Cool review. Yay for pins in that backpack. One of mine came kept coming off quite easily til I tightened the joint with some nail polish but pins are better.
My order update says "We estimate that delivery will be made on 03-08-2019, between 09:42 and 12:42" so that's nice.

Dunno about tightening the pins themselves (the SS32 doesn't have pins where the DotM has added them) but yeah applying a very thin layer of clear nail polish or (if you're VERY careful) superglue in where a joint moves adds a nice extra bit of friction to stop joint being loose. Works great on balljoints too. Also some kinds of joints like that SS32 Prime bit (or on SS01 Bumblebee's roof joint before they put the pin in the later Clunker release) can be heated up easily with a hairdryer to soften the plastic then squeeze those parts tighter around the joint so where they cool and harden again they're a tighter fit than before. If that makes sense. I'm terrible at trying to explain things in words. :/

My pics aren't great but here you go.

"SS44 Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime. Fun figure. Improvements on Optimus himself are the yellow fade on the truck hood and some pins in the back pack where the fuel tank parts sometimes came off on some people's SS32. The new ab piece is nice too) . The trailer is cool and easy to transform into the jetwing pack and weapon ring. Figure could use more paint (once again missing robot mode flames) and it's odd the windows aren't transparent anymore but looks better in person than I expected. Trailer could use paint as it's mostly just grey plastic. I'll add the blue strips thar should be at top and bottom. The jetwings look great though are clearly hollow from the front view. The weapons are nice though the axe lacks the orange paint shown in some stock photos but the sword has it. In the last photo I added the removable smoke stack extensions I made which I think make the truck look better. "

That Jetwing Optimus looks like a dollar store KO. I can't believe anybody could actually like it. In the video he says it looks "ABSOLUTELY AWESOME". There is absolutely nothing awesome about it.

You need to tell me what Dollar Store you shop at because it is absolutely awesome. I ain’t never seen anything like this as a cheap store knock off.

Yeah i dunno if I'd called it 'absolutely awesome' (honestly I don't think that about any figure TF or otherwise cos I'm often so darn picky) but it's certainly way beyond a dollar store KO (and if not then yeah let's all buy those toys instead cos they sound amazing and save us some monies :P ). It has the typical limitations of a budget restricted mainline TF product like it really could use more paint and the booster parts of the jetwings are a bit hollow for my tastes (looking about for stuff to fill them in with a bit) but this set is a lot of fun to play with. I still prefer (the Jetpower Prime's design and toys (a voyager and a whole other transforming Leader figure) overall but Jetwing Prime is hugely entertaining to play about with too and definitely worth a look especially if having not yet got SS32.

Still working on a way to hold the shield properly. It's got a post, two tabs and a slot. There must be some way to hold it on his arm without it looking silly. :P

Anyone else getting 503 Kremzeek errors on this site today?

Great pics, Carnivius! I’m even more excited for mine now!

I mean, it’s missing paint, but I can fix that (and have a lot of fun fixing that, too). What I can’t fix is the mold and sculpting, which they did a great job on here. DOTM Optimus is my favorite version (and look) of Prime in any continuity, and they went out and made it with almost every accessory seen in the movie. For me, this is the figure I’ve waited 8 years for now, and it doesn’t look to disappoint.

Oh yeah you're gonna have fun painting it up and you already do the long smokestacks thing (thanks again for that idea. The truck looks so weird with it's small smokestacks especially when towing the trailer). I'm like that with a lot of action figures, especially Transformers, paaaarticually movie stuffs, is that if you're willing to put in a bit of extra work with paint and stuff to improve your figure you'll often be much more satisfied with it.

Dunno how you feel about the windows being solid plastic and painted silver. Silver's a weird colour for me there cos I like to paint the wing mirrors and windshield wipers silver but they won't stand out against silver windows so maybe black windows with some sort of attempted effect at reflections a bit like a real-world version of the cell shaded stickers Toyhax do for G1-type figures). Or if wanting to have proper transparency there might be a way to switch the ones from SS32.

No problem!

So that’s one of the things I’m thinking about. It doesn’t really bug me that they’re not clear, I just have to decide what color they’ll be. I have the chrome marker that would help details like the window lining stand out against the silver, but I kinda want to have more contrast. Currently, painting the windows either gloss black or like a dark gray is what I’m thinking.

Yeah gloss black might be good. I have some of that myself so may do that.

Quick pic of SS32 again wearing the abs and standing in the weapons ring. For quick photos SS32 is my robot model here and SS44 is in truck mode for truck photos. :P

Don't like the way the shield has to be held in robot mode cos it's only got a post, not a handle. SO made a temporary handle out of a drinking straw piece folded down. It'll do for now.

Nice pictures Carni! Looks like you're having a lot of fun with him! If I had space I'd go for the DotM version.

And yes, if cheap shop kos looked like this, then I'd think hasbro had some serious competition on their hands

Thanks. Yeah. I kinda wish there were 5mm ports on the front sides of the trailer up near the roof so I could plug the large grey guns on like Powermaster Optimus does. Would be neat. Still wondering if I can fill the hollow booster thingies of the jetwing pack too. Anyways dinner, catch up TV and an early night must be attempted cos i gotta get up at half 5am for a 12 or so mile walk. Hope your weekends been going great. :)
