Thanks to Hasbro Pulse, we have word that live action movie fans are about to get a very special treat in honor of 2022 being the 15th Anniversary of the Live Action film franchise. That treat is a 5-pack of the original Autobot team from the 2007 movie!

The new multi-pack consists of the original 5 on-screen Autobots: Optimus Prime, Ironhide, Ratchet, Bumblebee, and Jazz. Optimus utilizes the 2nd version of the voyager mold with the more screen accurate chest, Ratchet comes with his original release saw, Bumblebee uses the later movie 1 tooling, while Ironhide and Jazz use their only mold releases to date. The figures have also been repainted with some additional paint apps, most noticeably some extra silver on Ironhide and Ratchet as well as gold highlights on Jazz.

As is typical for Studio Series, the set also comes with a backdrop, or in this case, 2 backdrops, one showing the alley where the 5 Autobots originally united, and a 2nd showing the Witwicky household where they tried to hide to hilarious effect from Sam's parents.

The preorder is stated on Pulse to be an Amazon exclusive, and retails for $141.99, a fair price given current deluxe and voyager prices. The preorder is currently open for Pulse premium members and should be open around 2 for non-Premium members. We are awaiting Amazon preorders.

This is cute, and I like how it it comes with two different backdrops, but I'm not sure I can justify paying that much money for two moulds I already have (Ironhide and Bumblebee), two that I never liked to begin with (Optimus and Ratchet), and one that's just OK but I'm in no hurry to own again (Jazz).

That’s so cool! A great chance for people to get Ironhide and Prime in particular with how expensive they are these days. Jazz’s darker silver paint looks awesome, much improved from the original release! I like the darker windows on Bee, but I’m not sure if the yellow plastic is different.

I already have all these guys so I don’t have the funds to go buying them all again, but I think this set is awesome and definitely what the line needed right now!

It is awesome, isn't it?! I am sold with the backdrops, I will definitely keep these 5 together with one of those backdrops, it was meant to be.

I am now extra shocked that, 4 years later, we are getting an Ironhide again at last, but we still haven't got the DotM version

and the good version of Prime, not the first one with the odd looking chest windows.

Prime alone is going for close to the price of this set.

Owch on the pricing here at £150 for two voyagers, 2 deluxes and a borderline core class Ratchet (vehicle mode wise) and most of them were on deep discount when first released. Will be nice if it gets a counterpart decepticon set at some point though.

Amazing. Everything you said here... is wrong.

$33.99 per voyager plus $24.99 per deluxe makes this set retail price. Ratchet isn't even close to core, he is the tallest of the 3 deluxes.

And none of these ended up on discount. Ironhide and this mold of Prime sold quick and are extremely expensive now, as much as this whole set. Jazz also sold quickly. Ratchet and Bee moved well. helicopter Dropkick and SS86 blurr and kup are the only ones who really have had issues moving, the rest have been reliable movers.

I think he was referring to the UK market for these but even still you can't get these now without paying through the nose on the secondary market. Of course this set is perfect for those who missed out or new collectors.

Nah, Jazz and Ratchet were £10 at multiple places for a lengthy and consistant period of time (tho I missed out picking up the ksi sentry and shadow raider which were rare sights) and Ironhide was pretty much all smyths had in for ss at half price for a long while too along with which ever starscream it was. I sold my ratchet on a few days after purchase due to vehicle size -ambulance smaller than a car- and it felt a big downgrade from the original movie line and g1 color releases.

Oof, I'm still not used to these price hikes. I picked up the Autobots United 5 Pack for AOE that was similar to this for less than 2/3's of this price, and that wasn't even a decade ago (granted, I think I got it on sale).

Still, it's a good looking set, and I like that they put the "improved" version of Optimus in this. Doubt I'll pick it up, but nice for anyone who wants these molds (as others have pointed out, some of these got REALLY expensive on the secondary market).

Difference in deco or not, this is a golden opportunity for anyone who missed out on some (or all) these molds.

A Decepticon set would be cool as well, but I have the slight impression that it would be a teeny bit more expensive.

Especially since there were eight Decepticons in the movie rather than five.

And the size class differences. Frenzy and Scorponok are basically accessories, only deluxe would be Barricade, everyone else from that movie is a voyager or leader.

8?

Let's see:

Megatron (Voyager)
Starscream (Voyager)
Blackout (Leader)
Brawl (Voyager)
Bonecrusher (Voyager)
Barricade (Deluxe)

Am I missing someone?

Unless you count Scorponok and Frenzy as separate figures to Blackout and Barricade, however there's no SS Frenzy for them to include in a set as far as I know.

It would probably need to be done in 2 sets.

Megatron, Starscream and Brawl

Blackout, Bonecrusher and Barricade

Nah, just one set, SS69 style. Add a core Scorponok and a core Frenzy that are EXCLUSIVE to that set to seal the deal.

Honestly, I don't think they will include Blackout in a set unless it's an exclusive like SS69 was. If they try to keep the price around the same as this set, 4 voyager would make that up. And the box would be roughly the same size.

My guess is Megatron, Starscream, Bonecrusher and Brawl would be included.

Or if it's more about prominent characters, then it would include Blackout and Barricade in place of Bonecrusher and Brawl. And the price would increase.

I have not been this excited for a transformers preorder in a long time. That set is incredible and will get it's own shelf most likely. So cool they dropped it on the same day they are showing it in theaters again. Even the pricing is great. I don't have a single complaint with this set. And the fact they are using the concept art on the box really drives this home. Absolutely love it.

It's one of those movies that really does improve when watched in theaters.

Oh man, I really want that set... But it would cost 350 usd to import it, damn it. Can't justify that kind of money. Guess I'll keep hunting for the individual guys locally. Could anyone who gets it upload scans of the backdrops when you do? I'd like to print them out.

Edit: One little nitpick aside from some odd deco choices: I wish Optimus had come with an unmasked head in this one. I get why they didin't do it, most people don't like it and his faceplate is more iconic. But we haven't gotten him without his faceplate in Studio Series so far aside from a single sighting of an SS-05 variant. And he also was "unmasked" in the two scenes the backdrops included represent.

Not really - this thread is for discussion of the "Studio Series". That includes all figures made for the Studio Series - including the 86 figures. This thread is not an exclusive dominion for Bayverse fanboys. So I'm afraid you will have to deal with the fact that this thread is not for steak-lovers only, and those who prefer OTHER kinds of food are well within their rights to say so here, so long as they don't make it mean spirited! Likes and dislikes are entirely subjective, and those who like Bayverse movies (and their associated figures) are perfectly free to do so - but that don't mean I have to like 'em. ;). It doesn't take anything away from the bayverse fans when other people bow out. Just means there will be more Bayverse figures for them to enjoy.

To me, I hardly think the Bayverse films and figures are comparable to a good steak dinner. They're more like goulash, or maybe haggis.... ;)

This is true! The title for this thread here simply uses the generic "Studio Series" for identification, which can be confusing. Because the Studio Series encompasses many kinds of figures now, not just the Bayverse films. Perhaps they should amend the name of the thread to "Studio Series Bayverse" or something - that way those of us who aren't interested in Bayverse movies/figures won't stumble in and spoil the fun....

Or you could just, you know, not constantly repeat the same opinion you've broadcasted a hundred times. You don't like any bayverse designs, we get it. We know it already. That's fine. But there's no need to say it every time something about those designs is posted.

It's more like 14 years. I thought the 1st movie was OK, actually. Even got some of the figures. They did some silly things in movie 1 (to this day, the Bumblebee 'urination' scene makes me wince), but the newness and action was palatable. I don't recall ever saying I hate the Bayverse - only that I don't like it. There's a difference.

As to 'not being over it', that's simply because I felt the Bayverse movies haven't gotten any better, despite having had 15 years of practice. I was prepared be a supporter of the franchise, but they didn't learn from their storytelling mistakes. If they'd improved their technique and refined it, that would have been awesome. But I'll be the first to admit their success. They're making loads of money, so they must be doing something right - and they keep making more of them. I simply find their reliance on vulgarity, stereotypical characters, and slow-motion tumbling has become more gauche than endearing. Hope that doesn't offend - but you DID ask.

I simply find their reliance on vulgarity, stereotypical characters, and slow-motion tumbling has become more gauche than endearing. Hope that doesn't offend - but you DID ask.
I feel like TLK was made as bad as it was on purpose. Bay had wanted out of these movies since DOTM, but Hasbro wouldn't let him go until he finally made a movie that didn't make bank. And he had to have known the kind of reaction he'd get for putting Nazi banners on Winston Churchill's estate, of all places. That had to have been part of an attempt to get Hasbro finally to let him go.

Thankfully, we were finally given a decent film in the Bumblebee movie, and I mean that regardless of its Cybertron scenes. Here's hoping Rise of the Beasts learns from that movie's positives more than anything.

That would make sense if he wasn't still producing them himself.

For BB and RotB the only thing he isn't doing is directing.

Seems he's finally stepped off for the 2024 prequel.

I meant that he wanted to stop directing them. Producing he seems to be fine with.

Seems odd though to want to keep producing something you actively tried to make bomb so you could stop directing.

Unless Hasbro signed him on for like 10 movies from the beginning, I don't see why he couldn't have said "no more" after Dark of the Moon and just left.

Still, Bay is not known for good movies. Just fun popcorn romps, with some being truly horrible even outside of Transformers.
But AOE and Last Knight are just face-palmingly bad. Wether he tried to derail them or not can't say for sure. Maybe he just likes terrible scripts.

Yes BB is a fun time, but is by no means a "good" movie. Just less bad than the previous ones.

And I say this while owning all the movies on blu-ray except Dark of the Moon.

Producing lets him still get some of the money the movies make. ;)

Alright let's get back on track here. So I bought a house a few weeks back and finally got my transformers room set up. Here are my studio series shelves. So proud of this collection and am still blown away we are getting these figures. Can't wait to finish off more of the casts!

Ah, this looks wonderful. I bought a house last year, and my bots have stayed in moving totes pending my basement being finished. It's underway, but hopefully soon my bots will look as good as yours

Amazon listings in other countries show an upcoming SS TLK Crosshairs, which is interesting because initial listings indicated it was the AOE Version (bot mode is the same between movies, but alt mode has a different spoiler and hood). Excited to see what it looks like!

I am very excited for this. Crosshairs is one of my favorite designs from the last 2 movies. Hopefully he turns out as a new mold and not just a redo of the TLK mold!

Sounds cool, though I'll reserve my excitement since we've seen a lot of wrong listings on international Amazons. Hopefully SDCC later this week will give us a few good reveals. I still want a more accurate SS TLK Barricade. I would say I hope they use less clear plastic on Crosshairs, but recent figures say that's not happening.

I'm defiantly ready for them to start doing some Age of Extinction Autobots again, so am cautiously optimistic about the rumored listings

Also man that orange shadow raider lambo really pops on the shelf! I still kick myself for not picking it up onsale

He really does look better than "actual" Lockdown, doesn't he? That orange works wonders.
