Just like Soundwave and company, this is going to have to wait until after Christmas.

And yesterday I found the shelves of a local toystore completely full of these guys at half the price.
I felt like a jerk, but well...at least I was able to got bulkhead at fair price.

I know that feel bro. I got my Bulkhead at robotkingdom over the summer for $60, then word came out of the TRU exclusives. Glad I at least got OP for $30.

gothsaurus wrote:Yeah, while I appreciate Hasbro eventually getting these out to the public, I know there are a LOT of people burned. I know I overpaid for a few of these, scrambling to find them or import them early on. I hope someone gets demoted to a dim, basement office over it. and that we see a better distribution plan, including an end to short-packing the troop builder characters like the Vehicons and Insecticons.
I'd be willing to bet troop builders will always be in short supply. As has been said many times over, we the fandom/collectors don't drive distribution, kids do. And their parents. And odds are a kid asking for 3-4 vehicons is going to get a "don't you already have that figure?" response. If 90% of their audience is held captive by their parents' purchasing power, they're not going to sell armies.

I know a lot of folks are going to disagree with me on this, but I'm really hoping Hasbro makes good on reissuing all of the FEs at some point, as I still need Bee and Cliff. They could at least get the Bee and Screamer box with Silas out to us stateside.
Yeah, my OP is missing the dark grayish/brown paint app on the vent on his chest right below the fake window.

W-What?! Are you saying you bought one from this 2012 reissue of FE toys, and it doesn't have the missing truck side paint apps?Philosophus Prime wrote:I snagged mine at a brick and mortar TRU when the first sightings came in. Got the last of each, and thankfully the paint was good.
That fills me with so much hope!
Though, there's still no way to tell in the packaging if it does or doesn't have the missing paint, so it's still a gamble.

Mine is also missing the red around the truck mode side windows. I think it's as others have said, it's the same paint mapping from the transparent version, that whole piece is one solid piece from one side, across the windshield to the other side, molded out of brown plastic.

Sorry, that was meant in addition to an earlier post of mine. It's missing a vent paint app on the chest and also the window thing

Looking on the bright side, I think the 2012 toys' missing paint apps may have gotten few million more kids into customization. Snicker.
Seriously, we need to have the new galleries posted with their best match paint colors in the accompanying text.

~edit, I just read where the confusion is coming from I think. I misunderstood your question. Mine is a small vent that should be painted gray, which isn't, inside the larger red chest piece just below the fake window, not the larger gray area underneath.

Is this a difference that is visible in robot mode in the packaging?fordprefect294 wrote:~edit, I just read where the confusion is coming from I think. I misunderstood your question. It's what I circled in yellow. Mine is solid red, no paint on the lines. Def visible in package. Not horrible, but a bit of a bummer.

So the chest vents are gray on the 2011 version and red on the 2012 version, or vice versa?fordprefect294 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Is this a difference that is visible in robot mode in the packaging?fordprefect294 wrote:~edit, I just read where the confusion is coming from I think. They're both gray on 2011, and my 2012 has one gray, one unpainted.

Yours might be an isolated incident since other reports show both vents painted gray on others' 2012 versions.fordprefect294 wrote:They're both gray on 2011, and my 2012 has one gray, one unpainted.

Without a doubt. QC isn't perfect anywhere. Still something for others to look out for.

President-prime wrote:I think hasbro got you people into gripping over insignificant points on a toy. Seriously, they raised their voyager prices from 19.99 to 24.99, and all you guys talk about is how cheap the toy is at toys r us.
Retailers did that. MSRP on Voyagers is still $20. Including the FEs, so Hasbro isn't making any extra money on TRU's upcharging.
Ever consider the hype at the beginning about the first edition stuff was a ploy to change your mindset, of raising the price on you and make you feel like your getting a good deal. I'm not talking about people who shell out 50-60 bucks for a 20 bucks toy.
I'm pretty sure that's exactly what you're talking about. You're saying, overall, that by the poor distribution initially, our incentive to shell out a few extra bucks is increased, in order to get something we've been wanting for some time, but didn't want to pay an extreme amount for.
You guys just couldn't wait, knowing full well that they will release these figures in some form or another, ie exclusives or later in different packaging.
I can't disagree with that, as I figured there would be a re-release of the FEs. However, the reissue FE voyagers suffer from issues, the QC on Bulkhead and the paint app on Optimus. The latter is a minor annoyance, since you don't see it in robot mode, but the former is a bit of an issue.
It's kind of like oil price increases. When they want to raise oil prices by 30 cents, they went overboard and raise the price by 1.00. Everyone complains. Then, Prices slowly go down...then, raise it up again until its at 30 cents more than the original. At least the raise wasn't 1.00 more, you say. Well, the original intent was .30 anyways .
Oil prices are indeed a bitch.
Hasbro got you guys good. Hype up toys, bury them for awhile, bring out newer batch, then release first edition. How rare is that! Everyone picks it up. Hasbro makes a killing. Toys r us makes a killing. they win! I think that's some genius work from Hasbro's marketing dept. and here you guys make it seem like its the rarest toys.
You really think so? I'm pretty sure that everyone that wanted them would have picked them up in the first place if the distribution hadn't been so piss poor. I sincerely doubt that them "holding off on them" made any difference for that reason alone. Now, it's the holiday season; it just makes good sense to re-release big ticket stuff now. People are more inclined to spend a little extra.
TL;DR
TRU always upcharges stuff, that's not news.

President-prime wrote:I agree. But like I said, certain toys stores know how to raise prices without us complaining. Look at target and Walmart. Kind of crazy just randomly picking a price to raise. I haven't been to Walmart or target for toys in over 3 months. Why go there? Their prices are higher than toys r us now. I can just stay home, order online for free shipping, and not worry about the fuss or gas money. It's especially true now that I'm actually collecting the higher end stuff and not worry about the crappy cheap plastic deluxes, that are coming out. Oh, and by the way. Thank you Seibertron.com For the new toy news.
It's hardly random, it's just not been done with transformers much in the past, I'm guessing. Prices of jewelry and other luxury goods have ALWAYS seen similar price bumping and then severe 'cuts' after Thanksgiving and returning the normal prices sometime after the season has ended. Prices are back down to near MSRP now.

I've been seeing the opposite. TRU is always $4-6 more than Walmart or Target. I thought the retail price for Voyagers was/is still $19.99 and TRU has them for around $26. What sucks is TRU usually has the hard to find figures, so either pay more or wait/ make multiple trips to Walmart/Target. Also I find TRU very difficult to do any price matching. They want to see the exact figure at the specified price point to match it.
Thanks for the great toy news, I grabbed a first edition Bulkhead!!
