Happy with them, never heard they were doing this.
But when I read it, I was hoping for those black/dark
colored more screen accurate Dinobots.
G1 reissue complete Dinobot set never came to mind, but
for those who did. It must suck pretty hard -_-
Good for the wallet & livingspace, since I'm going to
get 90% of all Combiner Wars figures. Way too much
Transformers awesomeness, so no loss here for me.
G1 reissue Grimlock does sound like a great idea.

No way this is 80... 2 voyagers and 3 deluxes in a Platinum box set? I'm guessing this will at least be 120

I think they must have sold both types as with Ultra Magnus.
I can't say I've seen a rubber tired Rodimus with Metal feet from a UK source yet though. I should have bought the reissue to get one with metal feet and tires - but it slipped my mind that there was that difference.
I did really miss the lack of rubber tires on Chromedome though.
I wonder if they'd considered a shiny deco might look nice on G1 Rodimus if he was ever reissued again.
The Dinobots like the other recent Platinum sets are nice enough but I'd not want to pay crazy premium for them.
In a way I'd have been more keen if they'd left Sludge/Slog out and included Slash instead or left out Grimlock and sold him on his own in leader class size in G1 colours.
It bugs me that they keep neglecting Slash - do they not think people would want Slash in a colour other that teal ?
He's a decent enough toy once you swap his legs over

Would that make it, SLASH FICTION
I just woke up, sorry.
Anyway I'm happy that these exist, I might pick them up because I doubt we're getting classics dinobots anytime soon and TBH I like these guys. At the very least it'll lower the cost of getting the original set with its beautiful box. Down side these guys still have that transparent plastic that I don't like, and they could use for gold.

Exactly! Slash needs some recolors. I enjoy the mold a lot and other than the Hasbro version, the only other use is the Takara AD one. That's not very muchRAR wrote:It bugs me that they keep neglecting Slash - do they not think people would want Slash in a colour other that teal ?

And am I the only one who would have preferred Toon accurate decos? I would love Swoop to have a blue chest. Anyways, none of this really surprises me. They've reissued SDCC sets in the past (with slight alterations) for the mass market. Like SDCC Bruticus.
Oh and check this news post I wrote: http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=102664&p=1658641&hilit=dinobots#p1658641

While this last news may be fun, it should be noted that this could be a reissue of the G1 deco AOE Dinobots that were released at Comiccon, similarly to how the FOC Bruticus issued at Comiccon was eventually released as a platinum set.

The colors are more consistent. The SDCC set, bless its heart, was awfully inconsistent with the kinds of golds/browns that were applied, and whether those colors were chromed.
Here, you have a much more unified color scheme amongst the deluxes, and the two figures that have gold, the voyagers, appear to have the same tone of it. I dunno, that's just to my eye.
And if these do indeed have G1 inspired head sculpts, well... that gives this set a real reason to exist.

Had to be said.
So I retract my bad things to say about it as these were based on a faulty expectation of G1 reissues and being disappointed by that. I do not retract what I've said about Slash and Scorn though

Yeah, it's hard to make out the details, but those heads definitely don't seem to match up with the original Age of Extinction ones. It would have been nice had they gone with the G1 cartoon coloring for Swoop/Strafe (blue chest) or Slag (red helmet).

Yeah and even at $120 I kinda like them. With these colors they just look right and really ups my interest. If they were more screen accurate. I'd say a flat "no". But these...I'd say "go on..."

I have to hand it to you Megatronus, you sure find amazing TF related ways to legitimize spending a whole bunch of money. Do you have the original AOE ones too?
Oh wait, but isnt the black knight series limited to just Slug and Grimlock (and Scorn, but he isnt in this G1 set). Does that foil your plans?

Thus, leaving FOC Grimlock (and Classics Grimlock) as an odd man out, and also meaning that we wont be getting Gen Dinobots down the road? If this is the case, what do you guys feel about this?

Do you think it's the case? I mean, with the combiners out of the way, you would think the Dinobots are a pretty big priority for generations figures to be released. Maybe this is what they were waiting for.

Patience Will, patience. I don't think Hasbro has plans anytime soon to stop making Transformers. Gen Dinobots will one day be the entire focus of an entire years line. Mark my words.william-james88 wrote:Wait a sec, guys guys (and girls)... does this mean this is OUR GENERATIONS DINOBOTS? And I'm with you, WJ88. I think you may be spot on that Hasbro may consider these our Classics Dinobots, as unfortunate as that is... The molds are not completely horrible, but have too much of the Movieverse aesthetic for my tastes to fit into my Classics collection, despite several Movie molds being firmly entrenched there...

And there are also these guys.
I've been watching them on HTS for sometime, waiting on a price drop. I like the deco of those even with the clear bits. I've just never liked the retail colors much, but I dig the knights in armor made of knives looks the AoE dinobots are sporting.

Plus, the Dinobots Unleashed set (somewhat similar in nature) has all 4 including Slog as well. The bad thing is that Grimlock is the Voyager, not the Leader: that's a separate Platinum Edition.

But that Platinum leader is weird. It was always considered to be more movie accurate, but I dont see it.

That one is is like if you took the regular Hasbro retail version (sans the silver chrome) and covered it in the patina that covered Grimlock in the movie.william-james88 wrote:But that Platinum leader is weird. It was always considered to be more movie accurate, but I dont see it.
The Takara Black Knight Grimlock is the more movie-accurate version, being like if the Grimlock in the movie had taken a bath and gotten all cleaned up and shiny.
