I would imagine if they were a serious collector they would have at least visited this site on a regular basis. You would think if they were a poster they would have piped up to let us know they were going to be on TV.

But it would be funny if the guys at the pawn shop say "Well you know what? I don't know much about Transformers so I have no idea what these are worth so let me call in an expert."

Well they do that all the time for items they don't know very much about, it would be interesting to hear what their "expert" had to say. You're very right about him/her getting ripped off should they decide to buy, but that's to be expected when selling to a pawn shop.

Terrible show is terrible!
That's a little harsh, they tell people how much what they're trying to sell is worth. Then they reach a mutual agreement on what they'll pay for it. It's not a rip off if they're fully informed.

Thats where I go to get a general idea on the price of a figure. But you really never know for sure if thats what its actually worth or if thats just "a shot in the dark" as the pawn shop guys would say. Being curious, I actually went to e-bay after the "Pez dispenser" episode and looked at the going prices for Batman, Casper, and other Pez dispensers in general. I found no hard evidence to support that guys claim that those things were worth over $2000.

I like how Rick sometimes makes bets with the seller to determine the final price. I could see a bet where Chum is challenged to transform a figure faster than the owner or something.

I seen the commercial and kept rewinding it to see the collection...
Chumlee walks in this room with the same Prime poster I have.He says he has died and gone to Transformers heaven I got and in neat rows there are tons and tonss of G1...loose.I mean I saw 5 Blasters,5 Starscreams in rows.He has tons of G1 and G2 Contructicons.A alot of G2 Sideswipes
All in all it looks like a thousand figures.I will look for the ad and post it if I can.If not to those who didn't see it its on Monday night at 10 on the History Channel

And throwing money around always makes me feel terrible, heck it can even give me a stomach ache.
Though, Transformers are an exception, so long as I can actually pay for it.
I'd never put anything on a credit card for very long.
Point is, I hate to see anyone sell their Transformers collection. Especially knowing the usual reasons for it. Going into dept, getting divorced, getting married, etc... Depressing.

I can see everyone's point of view of the show. Personally I do watch it and enjoy it from a humor factor. But just as someone previously said they are a pawn shop and they're there to make money. So I think most of us who do watch the show know that if they do decide to buy the collection, and IF they get a consult from a pro in the field of collectibles like TF this guy will not get what ever they may be worth. Especially if they are top notch items....'nuff said!!

This is called wholesale.
Also, if a price is negotiated, and a seller lets an item go for a price that is MUTUALLY AGREED UPON, then the seller has no one to gripe at but himself.

In defense of the pawn shop, like others said they are in the business to make money so obviously the seller isn't going to get the full value. He probably is in a position where he needs as much cash as he can get as quick as he legally can and let's face it, a reseller buying it all would definitely be quicker than arranging deals with multiple (possibly hundreds) of collectors to get the full value. A lot of us have either been in that position or will be soon, and those who manage to get through life being able to take their collection to the grave (as I had originally planned) are assuredly the lucky ones. I still cry myself to sleep over having to sell my G1 Terrorcons and Pretender Monsters a few years back.

Also how many times in Pawn Stars could they buy an item for 200 bucks and end up paying 3000 for it after expert verfies the item!!! I think what they show is a pretty fair and honest pawn shop. At least Rick n Old Man. Chum n Big Hoss diff. story.
The offer is on the table they can decline so this is Capatlism...don't complain
Posted by Screamfleet on July 8th, 2010 @ 5:22am CDT
Those people got pretty good deals for them, weren't scammers or anything either, they thought it was as real as the pawn shop did.
If you're looking to make top dollar on an item, you don't go to a pawn shop. If you don't know this, well, sorry for you then.

Well, the general idea of the pawn is that once the shop owner figures out what they're worth, they'll reach a lower, agreeable price so the shop owner can sell them again, this time for what they're worth. Yes, they are a bit greedy, but that's what the seller gets. Another thing is that once the expert comes in and gives the shop owner the amount of money they're worth, that's the first thing the seller wants. They don't realize the shop owner usually sells them again, so they are denied their original (And most of the time, unrealistic) price. However, never look a gift horse in the mouth.
EDIT: Oops, someone already posted something like this. Oh well.

Was valued at $20K if pieced out according to the Toy store and museum owner they brought in.
There goes my plan to send my friend who lives in Vegas to see if he had any Beastbox and Squawktalks...

When he offered $5,000, I almost fell off my chair laughing.
I AM HAPPY he kept them. That is an awesome collection.

If I owned it and had a kid on the way, I'd sell all the extras and keep 1 of each. Really, who needs that many duplicates in a single collection? Some of the profits obtained from selling the extras could go towards buying some nice display cases to get them off the floor and make room for the kid.

Did he have, like, SIX Scorponoks in the corner?

From the looks of the collection overall, he probably had two or three .
But yeah, I don't quite see the point of having so many multiples, but that was a very impressive collection. Lot of Mint stuff.
Seriously, he had like five Scorponoks and at least three Omega Supreme's, three or more Skylynx's, couple Fort Max's, maybe four Power Master Ops...
I agree with Fender Bender, keep one of each(in the best condition obviously), and sell the rest. He could proably make $10,000 at least and still have a good collection.

I couldn't agree more. I understand wanting to have a nice big collection, but I don't get why he had 4 or 5 of each. Guess it doesn't hurt for resale though. Really neat to see though ty for posting Wheeljack35

Thirded!
My biggest question is why did Guy chose a pawn shop over eBay? I am sure he could get his asking price if he sold things individually....With so many duplicates, he could sell 80% of them and still have a sizable amount to pass on as heirlooms to his kids!

Probably for the same reason I have never gotten into the selling on eBay game. Time and effort. Sure it is easy to say that anyone can sell anything on eBay, but to set up the number of auctions, pack up each piece, ship them out and everything can take a lot of time and energy to do, that this guy may just not have, and felt that selling it as a lot in this manner would net a reasonably similar level of profit.
Clearly this isn't what occured, so if he is going to sell the the collection on eBay (if it hasn't already been sold elsewhere for a better offer) then it is possible that a whole slew of "AS SEEN ON PAWN STARS!!!, G1 ____________" auctions showing up this week.
