Unfortunately, in this case exclusivity is the main factor in determining the price. If these were at regular retail, they'd be at regular retail price, even if they were remolded Terrorcons.DeathReviews wrote:If I had blood, $35 per Deluxe would still be too rich for it. That's way too pricey for some remolded Terrorcons, even if the remolding is well done. Pass on the Seacons, alas, unless they wind up on discount someplace (though in this case, discounted would probably make them regular retail price).

I think there's more to it than just that. I'm looking at Skalor, who is the only one still in stock, and not only does he have the combiner hand, but there are a sword and a couple of guns. Those gotta cost something since the standard PotP combiners only had a single accessory with the hand, not multiple.Rodimus Prime wrote:Unfortunately, in this case exclusivity is the main factor in determining the price. Yeah, people have to stop looking at these as 'budget' retools. They're not, don't want them at that price, don't buy them, but the parts count on the accessories alone would make the hasbro execs blush, not to mention most of them are new, save for the bot mode legs, turtler is 90% new tooling;
I'm sure if this was released under the UW line, people would be lining up to kiss 's ass (a'la computicon), but cuz it's under a line started by hasbro, it's suddenly offensive somehow; if anything, habsro's being a bro and distributing them outside of TTmalls' extremely small market reach

I literally don't understand what you're trying to say at all.
I decided back when the preorders first went up that I didn't want them at this price, especially since I have the original G1 figures in relatively good collection, and since my Generations completionism ends at 1987. But! whenever these posts go up I try to buy them, then get relieved when they're out of stock.
I hope that everyone who wants them at this price can get them, and that everyone that doesn't can be happy without them.

The Deluxes come with upgraded combiner hands with individual fingers; multiple additional accessories; except for his hands, every bit of pink on Skalor is paint; Snap Trap is entirely new tooling except for his arms and upper thighs; and they're all heavily remolded almost to the point of only sharing engineering and a few parts... hell, Tentakil is an entirely new mold. These are basically pre-brand unification Takara figures that Hasbro is literally directly importing. To me, they're worth the money, given the extra accessories, paint, and retooling done. Granted, I'd like them more at $29.99 than $34.99... and Snap Trap at $49.99. But for what we've got, I'm fine. I've only got Snap Trap and Skalor so far, but their joints are even better (and tighter) than their "base" figures.

He's not, he reuses the waist and back of PotP Moonracer, and possibly some of the joint pieces. He does have the highest percentage of new parts next to Turtler/Snaptrap.

Fair point. Sharing 2 not super obvious pieces of a previous figure while everything else is new tooling... that's a new mold to me. I'd even say the same about Snap Trap, though his arms/turtle back legs are more obvious than Tentakil's reused Moonracer pieces.

OH! MY! GOOOOOOOOD!!!
Posted by Emerje on April 7th, 2020 @ 11:54pm CDT
Takara Tomy Mall is pricing him at ¥6,600 (about $60 USD) with release sometime in late September 2020. As with most Takara Tomy Selects releases his orders will only be limited from now until May 7 to Japanese customers. Hasbro Pulse will likely also make him available as they have other Takara Tomy Selects releases in the past, but for now TFSource and the Chosen Prime have opened their orders up for $64.99.
So what do you think of Selects new quasi-quintuple changer? Be sure to let us know in the forums!

Honestly the only thing which would make him even better if if he had some sort of leg transformation to even further differentiate the forms. Even if it was just some panel flipping or an alternate pair of feet with a red tip. Still, as he is this is some insane and whacked mix of ideas and I love it! Now I want an oversized KO even more do display his Super and Ultra forms. As for the final form, my head keeps calling it Hyper Megatron.

Considering TR Galvatron already had space to fold a head inside the torso and this guy has a transforming head, I think its safe to say he isn't.

Its also (maybe) a loose reference to the unproduced Season 4 Animated Megatron aka 'Maraudeur Megatron' who was even more Super Megatron inspired and also had a face mask based off Beast Machines Megatron. This design take cues from it but swap the BM reference with bits from TLK.

Got mine too, the shipping box was dented but thankfully the individual boxes look ok.
Don't worry, the figures come in a plastic clamshell that's packed in a box, packed in a wrap, packed in a box which is then packed into the shipping box
Busted open turtler and man what a figure, it feels bigger than it is. The packaging was interesting then I remembered it had the same number of layers as the Japanese releases. The shipping boxes are just different.

Sure is, they even open when he shoots that beam. I'm not seeing Marauder Megatron at all in this figure, always thought that figure was a step further away from Super Megatron, not closer.
I'm having trouble figuring out Ultra Megatron's chest. It doesn't seem to be as simple as popping it open and spinning it around. There's a hinge at the top not found on the Super side and the intentionally shot the figure from below so you can't see what's going on up there. I'm thinking it might be the part his head is connected to and just out of view on the super side and has a twist in it similar to RID 2001 Ultra Magnus so the head returns upright.
What we can now see that the "spin" is about half way up his abs, the bottom half stays Black while above it is gray in super and black in ultra.

It's really neat that they managed to pack so much into this toy. It's way better than the Galvatron original.

Yeah, but it will cost many between 2-3 times that Galvatron original,

2.25 times as much.
I'm not seeing less reason to want this, despite the pricing.

Given that it doesn't look like any part was lengthened, maybe ask to see if anyone has both Star Convoy and TR/Legends Galvatron on hand for a size comparison. I think SC will tower over Super Ultra Megs but I suppose that was the best mold to use as a base. Can't think of any recent leader Class molds that would have been better.

True! I guess you can toss that on top of the reasons I won't get this. Although, saying that, I like what they've done here.

Considering that it was NOT clear that he has a transforming head, I think it was safe for me to ask for clarity. But thank you for clearing that up.

However Star Convoy from the Octane mold would be in scale with that Megatron, have a more accurate alt mode (especially if they tooled some threads) and possibly a space shuttle/spaceship mode from the plane mode, which would have fitted the concept better and even elevated it beyond the G1 space truck.

Its 'close enough' so yes, it will be what I display Super Megatron with. TR Megatron will henceforth be repurposed in my collection (and maybe slightly customized) into Megaplex.

As true as that is, doesn't change the fact that they wanted to use the leader Class mold, probably for the small Optimus to star Convoy feature and the removable matrix capability. It wouldn't have gone unnoticed to them that they could have used the voyager class mold, they just didn't want to.

One part of me says it's not much more than tak legends galvatronus price, then the other part of me says leader class price for a voyager figure. Either way, sticking with animated megs for the mo.

1. Learn to use quotes when replying to something that was multiple posts back in the thread.Segor wrote:They look cool, but not $35-a-deluxe-figure cool, I know some of us have bought Takara combiners for $150, but the painting and accessories are usually better along with the packaging, but this is something that could have been release at 18 a piece, except the voyager figure.
2. As several people have pointed out, the painting and accessories of the Seacons ARE better than what you'd get with a retail Deluxe limb, plus the retooling is quite extensive. So no, it really isn't something that could have been released at $18 a piece.
