Seriously? We just got a Pointblank! I get it that he has some issues, but why bother releasing that one if a proper version is also on the way? Is Hasbro really that blatantly greedy?william-james88 wrote:-Kanrabat- wrote:Nemesis Primal wrote:UPDATE: According to a combination of info some other guy got from a Chinese retailer and corroboration from JTPrime, "G1 Headmaster" is mostly likely short for "G1 Headmasters Universe Pointblank", and it's Pointblank with the head design from Headmasters/his original toy instead of his Sunbow/Rebirth head, not an actual figure/character who is a Headmaster.
Is its class specified?
Because it would be nice if it's the proper voyager Pointblank, the one the designers wanted to make from the start.
It's a deluxe

I would have preferred the purple version as well, but hasbro wasn't going to make brand new parts for an obscure character when they had a ready to go mold, especially 1 of that size.1984forever wrote:I was hoping for the season 3 purple and gray guardian robots remolded to have fat guts. I figured that’s why they were taking years to release the repaint. Oh well. No headless option either.

Depends on what they used as sources really. The deco is indeed from War Dawn, but the concept of a blue G1 Omega Supreme dates back to 2008's e-Hobby GADEP:
The purple ones are considered distinct by TFWiki, as in contrast to the Autobot/Decepticon-led Guardian Robots, the so-called Dark Guardians were employed by the Quintessons.
Why does blue have to be my favorite color...

*£220 at hasbro, £200 at indemand...yeagh easy pass at that price, hopefully it will end up like Black Zarak because £70+ more than Omega is a big NO
Posted by o.supreme on February 28th, 2023 @ 12:01pm CST
Perhaps they learned a thing or to from Black Zarak. I mean I know that required more extensive work, but the pre-order was almost a year in advance (10 months to wait), whereas this is just a little over a month.

Some fans were upset by the headsculpt we got with the original pointblank, and now Hasbro is releasing a version to answer that need. It's the same toy but with deco and head to match the Headmasters cartoon version, hence the name of the listing. Also, I thought wave 3 deluxes were hard to obtain, no?
Posted by Rodimus Prime on February 28th, 2023 @ 12:20pm CST
The 1st Pointblank has been out long enough for them to acknowledge the negative response and implement the desired changes in such a short time? I just thought with all the steps a production usually requires, they had this version in the pipeline before the 1st got even released.william-james88 wrote:Some fans were upset by the headsculpt we got with the original pointblank, and now Hasbro is releasing a version to answer that need. But not the body type. Thicc guardians FTW.
Posted by Sabrblade on February 28th, 2023 @ 12:51pm CST
Well, if you really want cartoon-accuracy, you should be asking for 2-foot-tall Action Masters since the Guardian Robots were built by the Quintessons as the Dark Guardians, and thus predated the art of transformation, and thus couldn't transform.1984forever wrote:Sabrblade wrote:All that white is accurate:Rodimus Prime wrote:Looks pretty good, even if it's got a bit too much white on it. Omega Supreme was the only one who was able to, and look at how much his body had to go through to make that possible.

You’re right. I’m actually not opposed to the idea of Action Masters for characters that never transformed in the cartoon. I would buy Trans-Organics, Deceptitran, Quints, Dark Guardians/Guardian robots etc., and double dip on the figs I already purchased in 3D if they were made into plastic.

I don't think this one exists explicitly as a result of what fans asked, and I didn't mean it as such. I just meant that some fans wanted a different point blank and this one will answer that want/need. There will be 2 point blanks just like there are 2 cyclonuses, that's how I see it.

I mean heck I remember Studio Series Grindor being a minor redeco of Blackout but used the opportunity to retool the hands, this doesn't really seem that wild to get a new Pointblank soon that'll address the articulation issue. I personally didn't find it that bad but, hey, if they wanna make an update on that mold and are confident it'll sell, why not? Maybe the price point might even chuck in the engine gun as originally planned too.

As many bemoan the price, equal if not more will bemoan a cheaper non-transforming new mold.

Yeah I get it. I was just trying to get it straight whether the newer figure is in response to fans' reaction to the previous one or if it was already planned to be released no matter what. FWIW I'm happy with the 1 we already got, but I get why others weren't satisfied.william-james88 wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:The 1st Pointblank has been out long enough for them to acknowledge the negative response and implement the desired changes in such a short time? I'd imagine especially for people not really in the loop - "Why is this based off a toy release from a few years ago that could transform?" and probably consider just forking up cash to get one that can actually transform.
I love Action Masters but...this ain't RED! (I am also one of those people that prefer Transformers that can transform as much as I love Action Masters. )

Nobody here could answer that question in full confidance, but Hasbro is very receptive to questions these days. When the new one is revealed, you or someone else could ask on instagram if it's a response or was always going to come. I think that since the headsculpt is pre planned, they were always going to release 2 versions

They did also announce "Origins Jazz" as well, along with the Guardian Titan. The Guardian is still available for pre-order on Hasbro Pulse. Jazz is already sold out. Go figure!

And I understand tht, but since Guardians didn't technically transform I don't see the issue in that regard. That said, yes you're buying a "Transformer" for a reason.
Maybe they should have redesigned it a bit so it wasn't a direct copy of Omega Supreme in alt mode. Though I guess that defeats the "repaint/cash grab" aspect of the release. lol

I thought we were talking about Generations Metroplex, the first titan that was sold for the outrageous price of 100$ at the time.

So far, all those that are G1 related did. Even that horrible Fortmax. The one with the lowest value remain Triptycon because so many units have been produced. For Black Zarack, all the stores stock have to be sold first so it may take a while.
I do wonder how long for the Ark and C.Metro before their value increase. It may take a few years.

The quantity available for pre-order on Pulse and the quantity produced probably don't have any relationship to each other in this case. This figure has fan channel distribution including Entertainment Earth and BBTS, and they're still available there.

Oh, no doubt, and I assume he'll come back in stock as well on Pulse. I just didn't recall Black Zarak selling out on Pulse at all last year. But then again, the pre-order window was also much longer. You could be right the production numbers are probably similar and they just adjusted their pre-order limits. Especially if there is a first run/second run scenario where different dates would come into play. I'm selfishly just hoping he will be in stock on Pulse at some time whenever they do their next sale. (And hoping to show enough restraint to not buy him at full price before then.)
