Yours truly managed to purchase Deluxe wave 1 at a Toys-R-Us in Oklahoma City. The figures rang up as "unsellable" due to their street date, but the manage went ahead and sold them to me. So purchasing these before the street date will probably be on a case by case basis at Toys-R-Us depending on how strict their management is on street dates.
Roxxstar found these DOTM Activators at a Target in Lathrop, California.
It might be worth your time to swing by your local Target and Toys-R-Us to see if any DOTM toys are lurking in the toy department.

I'm on a budget and $15 for a deluxe plus $8 shipping is not in my budget. I also enjoy the thrill of the hunt.

Ah but if you use the Pile of loot feature and say add 5 deluxde figures to it total shipping for those 5 figures would be around 9 bucks for ground give or take a few bucks, subtract the ever growing cost of gas, time spent looking for said figures you actually break about even. '
Now a days the hunt can be a little too exspensive and more than likely a waste of time While I wont lie I still enjoy loking for figures, I know Warpath and thundercracker will 99.9% never be found at retail with the movie figures just around the corner..

Don't sweat it...it's not that impressive. SP was one of the few DOTM figs I was interested in, and I managed to pick one up yesterday. He's much less 'attractive' in person and has a fiddly, panel-former transformation. Not the worst fig ever, but definitely not a good sign if this is one of the better figs of the line...
Could've also picked up leader Bumblebee, but chose not to.

I tried the same thing the other night and got the street date lecture. Oh well, we will be swimming in them in 13 days.

They had ONE case of the Leaders in stock and I got the only Sentinel in the store.
Almost had the Deluxes, but they couldn't find their location in the back room.
Voyagers are there, but the computer says they're still in a storage bin.
As for Sentinel himself? ROTF Optimus Prime has nothing on him in terms of transformation complexity. Everything has to be moved out of the way for another piece to move, then you have to move the first piece back. Then on top of that, it's panel, panel, panel, tab, tab, tab, tab, swivel, twist, snap, snap, snap, and it's ridiculous.
I couldn't even transform him the first two times I attempted it. The directions are pure crap.
The figure itself is quite nice in robot mode. The vehicle mode is nice if you don't use the gimmicks.
The transformation will make you want to punch a wall.
Walky over at Shortpacked! summed it up nicely.

But I think he has a face only his mamma can love...and his shade of red sucks. The one thing I can give him credit for, though, is they split up his panels well. He at least doesn't have a huge ass backpack or ridiculous amounts of unsightly kibble all over him. I still think he's a mediocre fig at best, though.

If you go out before the 16th your odds of getting these are relatively low, and close to 0% from TRU as they have the street dates come up at the register. If you work the system you might pull off getting something early from Target.
