i watched the 1st 2 gi-joe episodes and quite enjoyed it.. riffs and lifts right out of the a-team but it's been a while since i've watched a cartoon that didn't treat its target audience like idiots (although kids are idiots these days anyways...)

Agreed with Frogbat: Renegades has altered some classic characters a bit too much (Dr. Mindbender almost seems like mere name-recycling), but not too far beyond the movie and IDW reboots (at least no one's gotten a sex change...yet. Dial Tone should get binary-bonded to Nightbeat next crossover), and yet the Hub previews actually have me more interested in following Renegades than Prime. The idea that Cobra maintains the front of a respected corporation to the extent that no Joes could attack them without being perceived as traitors by their own military is a perfect example of an established idea being played in an entirely new way.

Nothing against TF Prime, but Darkness Rising seems to have overreacted to complaints about Animated's slow-moving first season and shoved its intro through the paces too fast, saddling the 'Bots with 3 annoying kids as fast as Armada. Don't get me wrong, the Blood Of Unicron subplot might be the darkest thing in any TF TV series, hearkening back to Furman's most disturbing G1 and G2 stories, so I have high hopes. I just don't see it getting good enough to erase my regrets about Animated being canceled right after it actually got going. Renegades, on the other hand, might actually make Duke an interesting character for the first time since...ever! I'm hooked!
