A shame about the lack of chrome, but still, that looks awesome. The hips look a bit odd but eh, I'm sure they'll work just fine.

His knees seem to be made with combiner port bits. Interesting.

I don't know why, but when I looked at the first picture of his robot mode, I thought there was a penguin perching over his shoulder. Look at it. I can still see it. (Its really the rocket launcher).

that wouldn't surprise me... sturdy joints, and he does parts-form to God Ginrai....

eh pass. Not so great on it's own and just like the original one it really weakens the look of Optimus Prime when combined making it look far too dorky. Suppose that's the best they could do while staying true to the original G1 toy but I always preferred Prime (or Ginrai or whatever) on his own anyways.

No wonder Ginrai's feet look kinda weird. This makes me want to buy them both & I'll display them in their combined mode.

It won't. Different set of feet. Ginrai has those skinny ones while Hb Optimus has those big boots.

It won't. Different set of feet. Ginrai has those skinny ones while Hb Optimus has those big boots.

We've got a rumored product listing for Apex Bomber or something like that as part of a box set, so I wouldn't count it out just yet.

Let me say that I'm really impressed with what we've got here. It looks great, it functions great, only slight negative is the silly-looking wings over the shoulders. It's a fantastic update to a kind of brickish toy.

He isnt leader Class, or else the price would be very different. He is more like a voyager.

And while i think this is super cool, I really dislike how small it makes the Optimus head look. Plus, there seems to be a big space between where the Optimus trailer ends at the bottom of his legs and where the feet connect (its where they palce the weapons) which is a shame since it means the Optimus feet could have been more filled out with the trailer hanging all the way down initially.

This looks really friggin awesome with the exception of, as said, the wings. Really hope they can be moved down a bit.
And finally the feet don't look atrocious! Yaaaay!

I have no emotional connection to the character, but that is a good looking robot!

Not gonna lie, that's a good looking piece of transforming robot.

Yeah I saw that and its a good point, but since this is so far a japanese exclusive toy I am not sure the same rules apply. Takara can do as they wish, they dont mind having toys in between classes and not pertaining to a specific class. And he looks much smaller than Optimus in every mode.

Hasbro is already making their own deathsaurus. It will be the Leader Class toy coming out next fall in the TR line (rumour so far).

The head only looks tiny cuz of how big all the armor kibble has to be to fit around the body. Otherwise, his head would have to be as bulbously oversized as it was on the G1 mold, which would make Super Ginrai look rather silly.

That is a sweet looking robot and I love it. hopefully the rumored hasbro release comes and somehow still work, cause I want one

The first pic I saw was the vehicle mode, not attached to OP. I thought, "look, someone is making a super deformed Godbomber. That's nice. I'm happy for those people who like super deformed, though it's just not for me." Then I saw the bot mode, and damn, I thought that looked good. What is this, a third party offering? Then I saw it was a Takara Legends figure. Wait, did Hasbro already release this?

Then I saw the pics of Takara Legends Ginrai towing the armor. Wow, that looks much better than my initial impressions were. I wonder if it armors up Ginrai...

Then I scrolled down in the thread. It's beautiful! Maybe the wings are a tad too high, but overall, I really like it.

So...preordered!

Aww yeah! So excited, this is a great update of my favorite figure sets. So glad I decided to get Ginrai over OP!

Wow, this thing is gorgeous. Combined vehicle mode looks so sick. Glad I haven't picked up Hasbro PMP yet, but not really liking the fact I have to hunt down an affordable Ginrai. Because there's no way I'm paying anything close to the $95 asking price from domestic retailers. Takara, why do you do this to me?

That's not how retools work. Retools share exact parts and engineering to various degrees. Also, Godbomber has to split apart in order to combine with Super Ginrai, which is another argument to him being a whole new mold.

And I don't know, God Ginrai looks a bit... rough around the proverbial edges. I think it's the bulk...

If you dont like the huge handling fee from local importers, you can always import him yourself for $55 plus shipping. Takara's price is quite fair.

Local importers bought these toys back when the US dolar was lower, but now it has strengthened since so you are better off importing.
