Posted by robotmel on October 15th, 2012 @ 10:44am CDT
Glad to hear the Alternity line is coming back as I really loved the Alternators line (and their scale ).
I have the black Nemesis Prime repaint, Megatron and Bumblebee but clearly scale wasnt a factor when creating them! Bumblebee is massive in comparison!
I would really like to get hold of any one of the Seekers and Cliffjumper but prices tend to be a little high now, most times between £40/£60+!
I can only assume this same mold with extra stickers will be around the £70-£80 mark to the U.K.?

This makes me wonder how the fiction will handle this guy. What if he's meant to represent the American iteration of the character and has Gratuitous English phrases put into his dialogue?
Also, can anyone here translate what those images say?

The top image appears to be a survey. The lower image, per my rough, early-morning-at-work translation would be :
"Takara Tomy Boos (not sure, looks like "boost", or "goods" with a typo) is the debut of a new Transformer toy series "Transformer GT"! Japan's premier Motorsports company Super GT and Transformers are collaborating! This racing car transforms into a robot?! This new Boos series will be coming at you real soon (not sure about one of the kanji here)! Can you see all the details on this cool racing car? If you haven't heard of Super GT check it out!"

If ONLY they would make some new cars, but make some legendary GT cars from the Day, like the Toyota GT-1, and Mazda 7B7.
Now that would be epic, make binaltech look like lamealtech.

Nope...I find it an unoriginal and boring play. Feels like the movie fig treatment...Bumblebee, Alternate Race Stripe Bumblebee, Race Number Bumblebee, Nest Logo Bumblebee, Unexplicable Different Color Bumblebee, Black Hood Bumblebee, Lightning Decals Bumblebee, etc, etc.
I'm glad I never bothered attempting to complete this so called line...can it even be considered a 'line' with only 4 molds?

The Hybrid Style line only had 2 molds: Galaxy Convoy and G1 Convoy.

Well, so far, without any fiction to back this toy up, continuity ain't a concern for now.Diem wrote:Sabrblade wrote:So it's instead for a series called Transformers GT?

Still, a new series could be interesting. Thanks.

However, if they did Bluestreak, Prowl and Smokescreen using this mold I'd replace my classics with them. Not that they really need more repaints.

■ 20 years at Dengeki Festival (add image), announced series "Transformers GT" new
Will be held at Makuhari Messe on the day of October 20-21, 2008 Dengeki Festival information booth exhibitors TOMY, stating that exhibited a prototype of a toy series "Transformers GT" new has been published.
Super GT in tie-up with the goods, as far as viewing the image, it seems to be something that was reproduced in the race spec GT-R version Orutaniti.
There is currently no information other than the image you cited below. Previously, there was an article, every time the Super GT novelty of Transformers have been distributed (hear) , so eventually, the expectation that you are not to launch a full-fledged toy tie-up was. Postscript : was held in April 2012, at the Plaza event of the opening round Super GT, photo of the prototype will be posted, with respect to GT-R specification Super GT This questionnaire along had been taken to the visitors . (Quoted source blog) personal (to kill one's boredom ) is probably the same as those that will be exhibited at the festival 20 years of this blitz.
From the jest of it, this is a prototype and not the final product. So those with "head sculpt" issues might see them making slight alterations to that and anything else. I am hoping they do such with the feet and legs, though.
And as for the name... I felt disappointed when e-HOBBY did not allow the VSE to be part of the of the original Generation 1 line. However, this Super GT line might be interesting - As we might even see a GT-R version of Megatron be added to this. But for me, I have to pass if or when it comes out. I have to rewrite my entire want list, as well as refocus my 2013 goals... Which pretty much means that unless the final version looks better than this to me, I will be sticking with the original Generation 1 characters (while hoping that the All Spark manga (which I give the first chapter a 4/5) gives way to a new toyline).

Not sure either, but they certainly do think he's the safest character to make toys out of, for now.
The past few non-Hasbro releases have started and ended with only OP and Bee (DMK, Revoltech, Tomytec cars, and the recent Caliber statues). And now that Bee seems to have become the public enemy of TF collectors, OP is the only one they feel can ensure sales.

That is the thing, P-P. Takara Tomy DOES NOT know their market in account that their stocks are worth an estimated $5 a share. And one part of that is in part of the fact they do not really know their market. Because if they did, they would have put out an actual reissue of Sixshot and not the one that was released in the Asian market.
In other words... You and those like you cover 1% or less of the market. Because the rest of the fanbase include a combination of the Dinobot fans, the city-bot fans, the Scramble City-style combiner fans, the non-Scramble City combiner fans, the Headmaster fans, the Targetmaster fans, the Godmaster fans, the Powermaster fans, the Headmaster Jr. fans, the Mini-Con fans, the Micromaster fans, the Action Master fans, the Powered Master fans, the Brainmaster fans, and the Pretender fans. And that excludes those who only prefer a single character, series, line, etc.
In other words... It is good that you collect a singular character. But remember that the market is, in fact, demanding a proper reissue of Sixshot... As well as G1 versions of the Dinobots (which can be done if they made an effort), G1 Artfire, and many more characters that are neither Optimus Prime or Convoy.

Wait...huh??? It's not easy being a toy company. Hell, it's not easy being a company. Period. First and foremost, Has-Tak is out to make money. Secondly, they will not often use the name of an obscure character to push sales. Lastly, repaints and minor alterations to existing molds return higher profits than starting from scratch. Even third parties are capitalizing on this notion. If you don't like GT Prime, so be it. But to argue that Has-Tak only releases OP and Bee is just being asinine (not strictly referring to the above quotes though.) For the 1% who only collect OP toys, only 1% collect strictly Dinobot toys, only 1% collect Powermaster toys, only 1% collect Godmaster toys, and so on and so forth. The fanbase is huge. Most of us collect bits and pieces from all over the Transformers multiverse. However, I'm willing to bet that the overwhelming majority of Transformers toy consumers are kids, even if they themselves are not the customers.

Not really what I did, but I guess we'll just continue to look like children in the eye's of these companies, when we disagree, we will just call them stupid and say they have no right to make toys because they made me boo hoo.

back to the point..
Optimus Does sell, and Japanese culture has a love for the Auto, so it makes sense to come out with limited racing versions of popular Japanese cars. It's not "Ricer" its Racing in the East. I'm sure this will be a hit in Asia.... where it's released.

Great ways of striking arguments against what I say when you both do not bother looking at all the facts! Such as this link explaining why they have seen a sharp decrease of an estimate 200 yen per share, which also impacts the amount they offer their share owners. Something that has them saying "we want to make money, but we need to adapt if we want to make a solid profit in the end." LINK: http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/business/T121008002198.htm
Which leads to my point. Takara Tomy has seen a steep decline in sales from April to October, which has forced them to refocus on their business plans. And while they say only 25% of the market are young girls, it does not mean the 75% are young boys. It means that they need to refocus on targeting those who seek out aftermarket pieces while focusing on those who want to play with their TV-series promoted pieces. (And FYI, both times I went to Japan had me near-religiously visit their Transformers aisle.)
Point being to this person is that by promoting this prototype, they are not trying to appeal to just the Optimus Prime fans. They are making it in hopes of expanding past their current G1, UNITED, and PRIME lines... By creating something that may allow them to expand the fanbase once again. However, he chose to snub the remaining 99% by saying that there is only one Transformer and that making this prototype means that they are listening to the market... Not the fact he has the chance to obtain another piece for his collection. Because as we speak, the item is fine and will sell well to select members within the Japanese market and secondary markets. But it would not sell as well as the Fortress Maximus reissue, or if they were to find a way to recreate the molds for select characters that fans are asking for.
And Rodimal? Your assumptions about me were as funny as the statement about how companies are out there to make a profit. Because I have stated that me not backtracking when it comes to my soon-to-be-AFA-graded-Transformers-because-I-hope-to-pass-onto-my-future-children collection has made it hard for me to both want one and not want one. Plus, my only dismissal of this piece involve the legs and feet! Not the fact that it is another Optimus Prime.
Point being... If you both know me, then you know I support his collection, as well as think this is a fine adult-oriented Transformer... But I cannot support his need to snub those who do not share both his love and enthusiasm for this character.

*facepalms* Funny how you accuse me of making assumptions when you know absolutely NOTHING about me and how I do my fact findings. Plus, also, this better suits my need to know why they are not doing so well stock-wise: http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/english/ir/ ... 17p_en.pdf
My point is tied to what they said: They have seen a sharp decline in sales within Japan, and a sharp increase in sales in other areas. Are you saying that this has nothing to do with the sharp decline of their stock value because you assume that I am making an assumption?
Point being is this: The marketplace only exists as long there are buyers. Buyers want different versions of Optimus Prime, so Takara Tomy made "Super GT" Optimus Prime. But if they only focus on Optimus Prime, then they are ignoring the rest that make their own marketplace exist. And right now, the fans are requesting C-108 Artfire, C-114 Fortress Maximus, and D-98 Sixshot.
And besides... Out of the 1,000+ registered Shmax members that have their collections listed, only 7 own the "Asian premium" Sixshot. This pretty much says that they missed out on a chance to improve sales in Japan when it comes to their Transformers line, as those within the marketplace wanted either an Encore Sixshot or one in "2010" Predaking-like packaging. Something I hope they do before the 2013 report says that they lost more profits in Japan.
So yeah... If you are going to accuse me of making an assumption, don't make an assumption that has you believe you know what I am saying, and so on.

It is true on account that the line was completed long ago, and they are capping it off with exclusives that did not make it into the series. Plus, they are also trying to go a new direction with their Transformers lines, so it is safe to say he is not a new Alternity.
So when it comes to this line, I can see them adding Topspin, Lockdown, Smokescreen, and me adding a padlock to my wallet if/when they do.
