Wish I could avoid buying Buzzsaw, though. I want Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage and Laserbeak, but Buzzsaw is one of those characters who barely existed. Oh, well. His colors look good, at least. They're getting the most out of the mold. Can't say I blame 'em. At least we're getting Ravage, even though he can't really be repainted.

You could also do Glit that was in that 3 pack with Sundor and Rosanna. Finally SG Ravage. That molds has more repaints than the Rumble mold!
I stand corrected.
Actually, I would probably prefer SG Ravage to Buzzsaw...

Actually, when one consults the official scale guide from the G1 cartoon, they are exactly as show-accurately sized as they're supposed to be, with Rumble/Frenzy reaching Soundwave's knee panels, the birds being bigger than his shoulders, and Ravage being just a bit bigger than the birds.Rated X wrote:Looks great, but cartoon wise the cassettes are a bit too small.
Hard to tell, but my best guess would be that this Ravage it about the same size as the Ravage that came with Universe Hound.Rated X wrote:Im would like too see how the cassettes fit in with classics. Are they scout sized ???
Though. if want these to fit with the Classics figures, you'd be better off wishing they were smaller since MP Soundwave is about the size of a Leader and all the guys who were Soundwave's height in the Classics-style toylines are Voyagers. And the near-Voyager-sized MP Sideswipe and Red Alert are mere Deluxes in their Classic-style toys. So, when comapre to the Masterpiece toys, everything is scaled down in Classics.
Though, the Ravage/Hound ordeal fit since Hound was a small guy (not as big as the other Autobot Cars, but bigger than the Mini-Cars).

Strange i've always liked the outcast characters like Buzzsaw and Reflector.
Fingers crossed the next MP will be Reflector or Shockwave (w/Ratbat)

Although for a US release, Hasbro would make him have a yellow visor (common on all of his G1 reissues, by both TT and Hasbro), a lighter blue and possibly omit either Frenzy or Rumble (and possibly swap their names as well), Buzzsaw (even though he was included in the US release of SW) and price them between the TC price and the OP price. Either way, whichever one is much more superior, hold on for Hasbro's release.

A masterpiece Reflector would be a great piece, unfortunately the character is not popular enough for the masterpiece treatment. I wonder if it would actually sell.

acchillyaout wrote:Meh, think I'll punt on this one. It looks too much like the original G1 version and exhibits no novel creativity. The addition of the minions is a cool concept, but it's been done before. I think giving them all new bodies and transformations would spice up interest and bring in more business. At it's current state, given the price, it's not worth the commitment in my humble opinion. Why can't it be a Masterpiece sized version of Soundwave in an alternate mode that resembles a satelitte? That was fresh and drove the market in a new direction!
IIRC, the Masterpiece line was started as an homage to the G1 designs, as sort of a commemorative line. The idea is to update on the original G1 toys with today's toy-making technology.
There's always the possibility of Takara starting an offshoot line for re-imagined G1 TF's, but so far they haven't made any mention of such a move.

BUT YOU MISSED OUT ON MP-10! He beats the cassettes in my opinion.

Looking at the ORIGINAL molds (not the Movie Masterpieces, they're repaints of prereleased molds) in the Masterpiece line it's pretty obvious that G1 hommage is the aim. The G1 deco Starscream (MP-03 repaint) even boasts on his box that it recreates the 80's appearance.

Yep and that's the reality of it Hasbro haven't really ever cared for the character would TakaraTomy think the same (i doubt it). The expenditure alone is too high 3 big figures all with different workings (ok two would be the same just reversed).
But hey i can hope!

Ravage XK wrote:Wasnt there a 3rd party MP Soundwave due, is that still going ahead or was it canned in the light of an official figure?
It seems to have quietly faded away, there hasn't been any news since it's last redesign was shown.

Thanks. Hate to think how much was spent on developing that.

Personally, I would LOVE an MP Reflector with a working microscope. And it is true that nobody was really expecting Sideswipe, so that does throw a door open to unexpected characters. That said, I think Takara will likely focus on a few more cars to fill out the Sideswipe-scale figures. Back to topic, December, get here, Soundwave, get onto my shelf.

Are you thinking of Perceptor? Reflector is a camara.

Yes, I believe it was cancelled. Good thing too, it didn't look as good as the official one!
