Actually, it's a homage to the Mini-con named Leader-1 from Transformers Armada who was paired up with Armada Megatron.

While there may have been a Mini-Con called Leader-1 in Armada, the truth is, Leader-1 was the leader of the Guardians (The good guys) in GoBots, which pre-dates Armada. By quite a number of years. Hence, this is an homage to GoBots.

I hate wikipedia in any capacity, but this is actually one of the only times its relevant.
Either way, this comic was pretty good. Just wish it was longer.

Look pal, this inclusion of Leader-1 is a direct homage to Armada Leader-1, not Gobots Leader-1. Armada Leader-1 is an homage to Gobots Leader-1 in name only.

Hey, thanks for trying to bite off my head. The name itself is related to GoBots, hence why I typed what I did. Its all referencing to the same origin. Your argument stands just as mine does. THE SAME.

Peej, I don't think it is. I coudl be wrong, but I don't think Armada Leader-1 is any more of a reference to Go-Bots than Armada Sideswipe is to G1. It's name re-use. Now, Energon Roddy is, for a reference point.
off topic: i went to TFWiki to reasd up on my Leader-1, and their site isn't loading. It worked last night, and at the 2:30am EST range.

In the Japanese dub of Armada (Micron Legend), Sureshock was called Arcee. The Armada MTMTE followed suit by saying she was female.

Clearly, She's the Mini-con sex symbol.

First, thanks Flashwave for actually showing a tone that is more friendly than blasting for saying something "wrong".
Next, we all know that Hasbro likes to reuse the names for their characters in each part of the TF Multiverse, but the simple fact is there are not a whole bunch of characters named Leader-1, which in point turns this into an homage/ reference to a past series/ character.
Also, I never said that it was an homage in more than just name.
I could have worded my second post a bit differently, but its too late to even bother with that now. But to simply say, as a few have stated, that a certain name is only referencing to ONE character with the same name that isn't the originating character, is very naive and closed-minded.
Also, I'm officially done with this argument. We can all agree to disagree on what this is an homage of, but now everyone is more aware of where the name Leader-1 came from.

This is NOT, I repeat, NOT a homage to Gobots. If it looked like Leader-1 from Gobots in ANYWAY, it would have been. However, there are no similiarities between the two besides the name (Hasbro name recycling) and the color.
The homage is to ARMADA Leader-1, just like the other minicons from ARMADA, Sureshock, HIghwire, and Grindor are homaged.
IF BOTCON WANTED TO HOMAGE GOBOTS, THEY WOULD HAVE MADE THEM THE GUARDS AT TRYPTICON PRISON, NOT MINICONS.
If you are looking for ACTUAL Gobots homages, look to Club Exclusive Minicon Cop-tur which came with Dion or at Walmart Exclusive Fracture, painted to homage Renegade Crasher.
Next you're gonna tell me that Transformers Prime Bulkhead is a homage to Energon Bulkhead when it's CRYSTAL CLEAR he homages the newly created Transformers Animated Bulkhead.

Leader-1 = Gobots
The leader of the bad Renegades
(I think)
Leader-1 = Armada
Name homage’s the original Renegade leader
(Only in name!)
Leader-1 = TFA
A Minicon guarding a cell: Homage’s to Armada Leader-1
(the name is a side effect)
Okay I'm done!

Not quite, Leader-1 was the leader of the Guardians, the Good Gobots, but you're on the right track.

I know I said I was done with this topic, but I saw this and I HAD to respond.
Obviously people LOVE to just pick and choose what they read on these forums, since my last post was pretty much ignored TO CONTINUE A FIGHT ABOUT A FUCKING TOY.
I'll repeat a bit of what I typed and see if you will read it:
1. I NEVER SAID IT WAS A PHYSICAL REPRESENTATION OF GOBOTS LEADER-1.
2. An homage DOES NOT need to be in more than just name. Physical representation is nifty though if it is done.
3. I knew about Cop-tur, but not Fracture's repaint. Thanks for telling me that, kinda cool really.
4. You know what, I'll not even bother to say anything about the Bulkhead comparison since that right there is just proving how low you think of other people who have a differing opinion on something. That's all it was. A FUCKING OPINION.
I don't like to swear, but its things like this that make me feel it is necessary. Am I the only one who is thinking this is ridiculous now?
Thank you for actually reading my last post and then typing in a tone that isn't taken as rude or makes you look like an asshole. Oh wait, you didn't, did you? Me = DONE.

Cool story bro. Nice to see you're able to accept the fact that your ABSOLUTELY WRONG with grace.
Fact is, Name Recyling DOES NOT equal Homaging.
Here's another example, I'd LOVE for you to decipher. Transformers Prime character Knockout. According to the Wiki, Knockout has had several characters through several different series share the same name. So which one is Prime Knockout homaging?
Protip, answer is there isn't a homage, Knockout is 100% original. I could go all night with such examples to further show how right I am and wrong you are, but I feel at this point, you either enjoy being wrong or you truly believe you are right. Either way, it is kind of sad.

Design homages
This is the kind we most commonly associate with a "properly done homage". Iconic design traits or colors of one figure are used on another, creating a visual throwback. Using the name of the original figure just completes the picture, but is not mandatory. Examples:
Energon Downshift: G1 Wheeljack
Cybertron Excellion: G1 Hot Rod
Cybertron Brakedown GTS: G1 Kup
Movie Fracture: Gobots Crasher
RotF Deadlift: Gobots Spoons
Name homages
This one a bit trickier to define, but basically any name reuse is a candidate for that. There is a big "but" however: the original name has to come from an obscure source, the reason for the reuse has to have significance, and the name has seen limited use before. The name reuses I accept as homages are:
Armada Leader-1
Armada Perceptor, after the alleged designer of both G1 and Armada Perceptor
What I just said means this for the Animated incarnations of the Mini-Cons: they're throwbacks their Armada counterparts. Same goes for Animated Leader-1: he's a design homage to Armada Leader-1, who in turn is a name homage to Gobots Leader-1.
