I think I'll pass. Trying to get toys I really like, not ones I think are just, ok.

I think that's just the lighting making it look like that.
EDIT: I noticed some darker red areas on his vehicle mode now, and also his right eye seems larger than his left, I do believe this thing is going to be a battle damaged version. Damnit Hasbro.

That's just a slap in the face with a wet fish.

The gash is sculpted into the head rather than being just a defacement or paint splatter like Starscream for example:

i don't know. the ironhide head on the panel slideshow looks different. and they've used the x on figures before when their head sculpts are going to be different.

Oh, and I really hope that's just a 'Not For Sale' head and not battle damage.

I mean, he's sitll like, red and black. I would have preferred a solid red truck mode.

Well, you know what I mean right? I didn't have enough time to use the right word. I was trying to be quick. I was in a HUNGRY situation! Still, IT is his death scene. Coming to think of it, that makes me want a Cosmic Rust Ironhide.

My first thoughts exactly! Hasbro must have had a heap of old Mudflap plastic laying around!

I wish it was the old mold, and i dont like the look of that scar, and theres too much black, and they should have chose either black or the orange stripe, not both.
but overall im glad to finally have this. if only i could get ahold of rescue ratchet.
next they need to make a g1 leader optimus prime.

He's got the cannon from the original DOTM Ironhide. The dude with the axe is Fireburst Optimus Prime.

I think the scar is supposed to be there; after all, in the movie he sports a scar across his eye.
I think the half red/half black idea was interesting, but if people want a red Ironhide, give them a bloody red Ironhide (literally!). That red is too close to orange, though it could be the lighting, and I think it looks awkward on the head, as though the details are washed out by that colour.

Mykltron wrote:Where are the cannons?
That was my thought. In the package I see a mechtech weapon, but the posed figure isn't holding that or any other cannons. When you call a figure "Canon Force", I expect at least one impressive cannon on each arm or more than that in vehicle mode, but that just isn't happening here. I'd love to see a side by side comparison between this and the black voyager Iron Hide. Hasbro probably wouldn't want that because it would become apparent that the Black Ironhide is better and this repaint is little more than a repaint with a fancy name that just doesn't cut it. I love collecting Transformers, but I'm not going to collect multiple versions of a figure that are just renamed repaints. There has to be something unique or different about a figure to warrant me collecting multiple versions. Already went through that with OP. Not going through that with Bumble Bee or any of the others.

For those of us that have been impatiently waiting even more!
It's about damn time!
I've been waiting for something like this since, what, '07?

I don't quite know why this comes up so often, but not all the fandom kitbashes, customizes and repaints.

Perhaps not, but I personally see no point owning multiple numbers of the exact same mold of a figure that is little more than a repaint of an existing mold with no change in the figure other than color. As an example, the first wave DOTM Sideswipe was a convertible with one type of mechtech weapon. The second wave Walmart exclusive Sideswipe has a roof, and other differences beside the mechtech weapon. Not just a repaint of the same mold. I can appreciate Hasbro wanting to make money from collectors, but to just repaint an existing mold of Ironhide with no difference other than color, is pointless to me, unless you simply must have everything Hasbro produces.

I understand what you are saying.. I don't think this mold or paint scheme is attractive at all but some collectors are stoked for a red Ironhide. Plus, if you didn't buy the regular DOTM Voyager repaint, this wouldn't be a repaint in your collection.
PS: the walmart exclusive is a repaint of the HDTD Sidearm Sideswipe

I don't own any of the Movie Ironhide molds to date. I've been waiting since the first film for them to produce a proper red movie-styled Ironhide that wasn't a FaB or Legends figure. It's the highest of selling points for me in this instance. I somehow doubt I'm alone. In fact, chatting with fellow fans across boards for years now, I know I'm not. It's not always a completist being targeted. I'm sure the red Ironhide will appeal to some youngers TF fans & kids, it certainly has a basis with fans into G1 no matter the age, and having one or more of a same mold with color differences isn't always an issue for some buyers.
Posted by Cyberion on July 24th, 2011 @ 4:42pm CDT
Ok, but since I didn't buy either the HDTD Sideswipe or the first wave DOTM, I did get the Walmart exclusive. One Sideswipe is enough for me.
I'm not faulting collectors for wanting a red Ironhide due to G1 roots. It's Hasbro I fault for producing repaints of existing figures just to make more money. If there was something unique about this red Ironhide other than the different color, I'd see a point to it. If it works for you, by all means get it and enjoy it. But if they do yet another repaint of Ironhide beyond this one, you know it's for no other reason than to make money. Hasbro had better hope Takara doesn't produce an Ironhide figure. Takara figures are better, in my opinion.
