A rumor starting here suggests that Transformers Animated will conclude after it‘s third season. The rumor began as an anonymous source claimed that Animated would end after season three. Then more un-named sources from within Cartoon Network were unwilling to confirm or deny the rumor when asked.

Additionally, Marty Isenberg, the writer for Transformers Animated, has been asked to leave his office at Cartoon Network.

Now on Derrick Wyatt’s blog, he too was asked if season three would be it for Animated. He responded:

Sorry, I can‘t comment on this.

Which could imply that he cannot say the rumor is false…

Stay with Seibertron.com as updates surrounding this ongoing story come in.

as much as i dont want the series to end, im not surprised. season 1 sucked, season 2 picked up a little bit. i think if season 3 delivers what we wanted, we'll get a season 4.

It would make sense for Hasbro to cancel the show, and relaunch another new show. That's the best way for them to sell new toys. Personally, I've really been enjoying Transformers Animated. Maybe they can do something like Ben 10 did. "Reboot" the show by jumping into the future, or change the focus from Earth to Cybertron, or at least other alien worlds.

Well seeing it is just Rumor at this time, then hopefull people won't go half cocked and make things worse.

but i highly doubt that.

It always amazes me how people, always take an "I Can't comment" statement as proof. There are a number of reasons he may not be able to comment, and not all of them need to be bad news.

Not good news for animated fans, now, if the series is over they might try to continue the G1 continuity with a new transtech series or something, that would be cool.

Sorry for those of you who love Animated

A "reboot" would be interesting. The Alien Force reboot of Ben 10 is imho better than the orginal series. Much darker tone (and I don't mean the animation itself) but the storyline seems a bit more "serious" yet they manage to squeeze in a drop or two of humor (like his first time using Goop)

Maybe we can see some of the repaints appear in a "reboot".

Dont know wat all the fuss is about. The 3rd season dont even have a start date let along worried about the rumors of it 2 end after that 2 b taking to seriously right now

I look at it like this....

Animated continue after the 3rd season giving us fans more updating look of characters thru out the transformers universe...

OR

Stop at season 3 b4 the show get 2 corny and jus introduce a fresh new series....said like ...i dont know....the "TransTechs" or sumthing like that so we can get sum fresh new lookin characters.

Either way as long as there more transformers in the future.....I really dont care....jus my 2 cents

That would cost a fortune. I would like to see a series based on the movie but it would more likely be an animated version of the movie characters and in the tridition of all cartoons based off movies, would not fit the continuity and would be verry short lived.

If they did make a live action series they'd probly have to focus each episode on a single character for each side as I doubt they can even get the budget to do anything more than that.

I'm allso better if Animated is ending it's so Hasbro can start working of the Revenge of the Fallen toy line.

Animated ending may only be tempory though once Revenge of Fallen hype dies down we could get another season or another series following the same continuity as Animated but with a different title. Maybe they'll bring back the original Transformers Heroes title.

On a side not, if they made an entirely new series. They did make that Transformers Universe video telling the history of Generation 1 only... with badly animated versions of the Transformers Universe toys. It was listed as episode 1 "Action Blast" so that kinda sugests they intend on makeing an episode 2 allthough I don't think I could stand another episode like that. It was cool for that little video but if the whole series was like that, gawd that'd be worse than Armada.

I heard the whole rumor spiraled out from the fact that CN asked Isenberg to leave his office, and somebody exaggerated it to the point that TFA will be discontinued.

The show sucks but i didnt think it was doing that bad. There were enough good episodes so i wonder why its getting canned. Guess its because it would interfere with the crappy movie. If thats the case they're idiots. This is what ya get when you let CN do Transformers. The keep the really crappy shows and can a some what decent one.

[quote="Chaoslock"]I heard the whole rumor spiraled out from the fact that CN asked Isenberg to leave his office,...quote]

This alone can mean a few things.
- The show may be cancelled
- Season 3 is basicly done, S4 won't start production for a while and they need the office for a show currently in production.
- A restucturing at CN
- Marty could even get pulled from the production as Hasbro is worried he is more concerned about the fans then selling toys.

It could one of those or any of a number of things that could be speculated about.

season 2 was good... a lot of fan service... but I realized that's all the show has going for it is fan service. Take out all the references to past TF series and it's just a cheesy, wannabe-anime kids show. The toys are ok, but I think a lot of collectors are a turned off by them (myself included, only bought a few... unlike cybertron and energon, they don't mix well with classics/universe). Season 3 looks good, albeit a little out-there.

My dream is Hasbro and IDW collaborating on a G1 reboot as an ACTUAL anime cartoon (not silly manga style). That would be the best show yet... they could even use the classics/universe characters if they wanna sell toys (maybe even rerelease a few for the kiddies and collectors who missed out). I'd just like to see IDW's art style and serious subject matter made into a show (or at least an OVA)

Weather this is true or not Transformers Animated will eventually end at some point and we will get a new series at some point.

Lets focus on that aspect. Rather than worrying about weather or not Season 3 is the last of Animated how about what series should replace Animated.

I have two ideas both of which would take place on Cybertron. We all would like a series that's actully set on Cybertron.

The first is a series where for once Megatron is not the Decepticon leader, at least not at the start of the series. I don't know about the rest of you but have you noticed Optimus is allways the one shown takeing his job from a previous leader before him and never Megatron?

For once I'd like to see a series showing how Megatron got to his position of leadership rather than starting him out there. And just as an added twist sence Starscream is normally the one seeking leadership I thought him and Megatron could be friends both seeking the same goal however in the end Starscream gets killed and Megatron attacks an allready weakened leader.

The other idea is the Autobots and Decepticons aren't even organized groups and the series would focus more on single characters and recuring villains than armys.

Each "Prime" would assume a super hero type role where he'd only become Prime when his abilitys were needed. Villains would be called Decepticons but as a name for their deceptive nature rather than as an orgainization. Citizens of Cybertron would colectivly be called Autobots.

The Primes would eventually form a group called the Elite Guard and the Villains would form their group as the Decepticons. Both would change their symbols from that of an ordinary Autobot.

Basically in this idea everyone is essentally an Autobot/Civilian untill the Elite Guard/Heroes and Decepticons/Villains are formed.

The Elite Guard would include but not be limited to...

Orian Pax/Optimus Prime: Orian Pax works as a technician with Elita-One and Dion. Unknown to them Orian is allso the city's greatest hero Optimus Prime. Granted super powers by an anchient relic, the Matrix, Optimus Prime has much the same powers as the Green Lanturn.

Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime: Hot Rod watched as his own creators were killed in front of them. He trained himself as an archer and started fighting crime as Rodimus Prime.

Ultra Magnus/Omega Prime: Ultra Magnus much like Ironman suffered serious damage to his Spark chamber caused by a weapon his company designed that got into the wrong hands. He designed and built the Omega Prime Trailer/armor to put an end to the criminals he unknowingly created.

Sideways/Nemesis Prime: This confused Transformer for some reason has the unique ability to read other Transformers thought processors wirelessly. Not abe to get a grip on his ability Sideways went insaine not knowing who he was with the thoughts of other Transformers in his head. He became Nemesis! The Elite Guard eventually picked him up and helped him deal with his powers reforming him into Nemesis Prime.

Alpha Trion/Vector Prime: Alpha Trion is nothing more than a simple mechanic but an unknown visitor from the distant future seems to think otherwise. Unknown to Alpha Trion, Vector Prime is his future self.

Primal Minor/Sentinal Prime: Primal Minor is a police officer by day and hero by night. Sword and Shield are the only weapons he needs to get the job done as Sentinal Prime.

Shockwave/Longarm Prime: Shockwave is an ex criminal allthough his fellow criminals don't know that. Like the Green Hornat he maskerades as one of them then foils their plans as Longarm Prime.

Interesting, but still... And for some reason while reading that, i thought that in a world like that, Megatron and Starscream would end up being similar to Shere Khan & Don Karnage from Tailspin.

I would like to see something they haven't figured out yet. NO SLAGGIN HUMANS!!! (BW doesn't count either) (insert puking face)

Go somewhere like all of the awesome landmark battles that the universe keeps referencing and show us all of that. Even if it just like a comic book and has multiple story arcs. Bounce all over tell us what is going on and who is blasting who for what reasons and where.

I am totally done with (insert cheesy music and a couple of dumb kids) boring shows about Earth.

Man, I hope this rumor eventually gets squashed, Animated is the best series since Beast Wars. Plus if it ends now, no Omega Supreme toy! :P

That said, considering that Season 3 hasn't even started airing yet, "No comment" sounds like it most likely means "Heck if I know."

As far as I know, Animated hasn't started to falter yet. I don't think they're going to replace it until it shows signs of needing to be replaced.

well regardless if its cancelled or just ending on its own accord, animated shows theses days, especially those for kids, never last very long anyway. i mean they have 13 episode seasons now.

so this wouldnt be that big a surprise. and as someone else stated, hasbro might just be doing this to rev up a new series later.

If this is true, it would make me really sad, as I've been really enjoying the series - it's cleverly written with fun characters, and the toys are quite fun.

And I find myself wondering exactly what would replace it anyway. I mean, I'd love to see a truly serious take on TF, but I can't see Hasbro ever going for a series that isn't intended for the kiddie demographic, and Animated already does a great job of writing for the kiddies while still being fun for the adults.

The rumor kind of baffles me anyway... I had thought that the series was doing well in terms of ratings and sales.

I can't tell by your reply. Did you realize I was actully posting two completly different and seperate ideas or did you think that was all one single idea?

This...

a series where for once Megatron is not the Decepticon leader, at least not at the start of the series. I don't know about the rest of you but have you noticed Optimus is allways the one shown takeing his job from a previous leader before him and never Megatron?

Was ment to be a seperate idea from the one you refered to as "a Justice League rehash".

I did see you had two ideas. sorry if it seemed otherwise.

To clarify my response:

In the second idea you specified where the Elite Guard is made of Primes mixed with known super hero icons, it seems that they would end up as more or less a Cybertron version of the JLA.

Optimus = Green Lantern
Rodimus = Batman/Green Arrow
Ultra Magnus = Iron Man
Nemesis = Phoenix
Sentinel = Spirit/Black Knight
Longarm = Green Hornet
Vector = .... Sounds similar put not placing it, but a bit like Kang in the Young Avengers.

While reading your descriptions of these, A Megatron that would fit against them would be a Bot of power and position, much like Lex Luthur, but then I thought of Shere Khan which stuck due to the why he was portrayed, after that the idea of Starscream and the seekers being played more like Don Karnage and his Air Pirates came to mind.

If you feel that this is mocking your idea I apologize, as that was not the intent, however it is what came to my mind as I read your post.

NP I just wasn't sure. It seemed like you knew but your responces to each idea kind of ran togeather so I got lost.

Optimus = Green Lantern

Optimus was based on Green Lanturn for lack of a better idea.

Rodimus was more based on his Animated version than anything else. His backstory is actully roughly the same as Manticore. http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Manticore sence I don't know Green Arrow's or Hawk Eye's back story I went with an archer I did know.

Ultra Magnus/Omega Prime is loosely based on his combined form with Optimus in RID (that's where I got the name), and a bio I read somewhere on the internet of G1 Magnus. I'm not sure if it's a fan origin or where it came from but what I read was that the reason Magnus has the Ultra armor and we never see him as a White Optimus Prime is because his armor is little more than Life Suport for suver battle wounds.

Nemesis was actully loosly based on Savage/Noble and Malaise. http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Malaise

Sentinal was just based on his Animated counterpart. His civian name of Primal Minor was chosen because of this guy. http://www.rixrobots.com/TRANS19.jpg and Sentinal shareing the name in Animated.

Longarm was based partly on Animated only reversed and loosely on the Green Hornet.

Vector Prime was based on Cybertron Vector's ability to travel trough time. He was allso loosely based on these guys only without the one of them being a villain part.

http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Dr._Aeon
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Professor_Echo

While reading your descriptions of these, A Megatron that would fit against them would be a Bot of power and position, much like Lex Luthur, but then I thought of Shere Khan which stuck due to the why he was portrayed, after that the idea of Starscream and the seekers being played more like Don Karnage and his Air Pirates came to mind.

I'm not sure what you're even talking about beyond the Shere Khan refrence.

Going back to that first idea though there's another twist idea I had but didn't post.

How about a Megatron and Starscream role reversal? Starscream starts out as Decepticon leader and Megatron trys to take power from him. Only difference is Megatron actully succeeds at some point and doesn't make it known to Starscream what his plans are.

Maybe Starscream doesn't actully die but rather get's kept around as a prisoner showing more of his hatred for Megatron and less of his quest for power.

If they kill the Animated series then I hope to hell they kill the Movies too.

Because really, Animated is what brought me through the awful fires of everything that is Michael Bay and the similarly facepalm toy line.

This wouldn't surprise me at all.

Animated was pretty much the "post-2007-movie" line, except the 2007 movie line had legs and ran and ran and ran (and then ran some more), to the point where you'll STILL find the figures on sale in stores.

So, given the longevity of the 2007 movie line Hasbro is probably expecting similar legs from the 2009 movie line. That would put us at mid-2010 before we see a new "post-2009-movie" line from Hasbro.

They could use that time to produce a season 4 of Animated (given that it does require lead time), or they could go do something new.

I *really* like the cartoon and the toy line for Animated - I'll miss it. But I'll probably feel a bit better with the money in my wallet. :)

I like Animated, and my daughter likes it too. At least two generations can enjoy the show.

Anyways, i think that if it ends, it will have to do more with the economic crisis than with the quality of the show. Why pay for a whole new series, when you can get cheaper reruns ?

I can imagine Cartoon Network re-recording the audio for G1, splicing in some ludicrous video edits and calling it "Transfomers Original Reboot !!!!" like some people did some years ago with G-Force. That would suck more than a hole in a window in a spaceship.

On the other hand, what i would like to see ?

I'd love to see a Transformers Universe series, focusing right here, right now, in 2009. Just after the movie, after Unicron, after the Rebirth, and finding out what the decepticons and autobots have been up to in four years.

Alternatively, i'd be happy with a live action series. Come on ! WE HAVE A FREAKIN TERMINATOR TV SERIES ! Life can be awesome.

I pray the rumors are true! The show is unimpressive visually and dull. If the ratings were so "great" then why is the show re-running at 4 a.m. (EST) weekday mornings and just one showing on Saturday and Sunday mornings? Isn't that the same thing that happened to the last TF series Cartoon Network has shown before when the ratings for them fell?

You can tell when a show on Cartoon Network has good ratings, it gets multiple airings a week. Clone Wars, Alien Force, Brave and the Bold and even The Saturdays (which is the weakest of the four) get multiple plays a week... Even the original Ben 10 is on at least twice a day and that complete series is on DVD!

I can't wait for TFA to go away. :APPLAUSE:

"If I wanted cartooney looking, transforming, sentient robots I would've bought the original 'Go-Bots' series on DVD!"

The typical run for most cartoons is usually 65 episodes or a 5 year run. A third season cancellation would put TFA at around 39 unless they decide to do an extended season.

Gawd I hope not!

Ben 10: Alien Force is more of a continuation than a "reboot". A reboot would mean to start over. TFA (in my opinion) is a failed reboot. Hasbro and others have failed to see what originally appealed to us all when they introduced us to Transformers.

If they're gonna do a "reboot" cartoon, it shouldn't be a futuristic Earth. It should be a "here and now" setting. I'd want to see the today's everyday cars, trucks and airplanes animated and transforming into robots and I don't want them looking like Go-Bots with big Jay Leno like chins! lol

+1 for a TFA Omega Supreme toy. It's a "need", not a "want" :P

I kind of like these ideas.

Without a dramatic restructure, I can see this being true.

Remember, in the end, a Transformers cartoon is meant to drive toy sales.

Consider the previous 2 multi-year (-season) series, G1 and Beast Wars. Between "seasons", >50% of the primary cast would change, whether through the introduction of new bots, or upgrades to the "original's" bodies.

RID, Armada/Energon/Cybertron, got around this limitation by being one-year only series.

Animated has already put out 2 seasons, and a third is on the way. So far, the "core" cast has remained (and plans to remain) the same throughout all 3 seasons. Prime, Prowl, Ratchet, Bumblebee, Bulkhead, Megatron, Blitzwing, Lugnut, Blackarachnia, Starscream. And not a single one has gotten a new body to keep! Granted, there are "cybertron" Optimus Prime / Megatron toys, but after the first episode, those bodies were discarded and they spent the remainder of the time in their "Earth" bodies. Also, there are the "Starscream" clones, which (depending on their use) may be the first "core" additions to the series, but I strangely see them swapping to a different clone each week, making them sorta-one-shots.

That leaves the "driving new bots" part of the series strictly in the realm of "supporting cast" and "one-shots", All the Elite Guard, Wreck-Gar, Dinobots, Shockwave/Longarm, Swindle, Soundwave, Lockdown, etc. Many don't appear often enough to "drive" toy sales.

Combine that with the awkward release dates (Season 1 went all series without a toy, and Season 2's toys are just hitting market after the season is, basically, done), and you have a recipe for "toy sales disaster" - if not actual, someone saying "imagine if we actually could get the two synched".

Personally, I can see a season 4 being made, if only to bring the episode count up into the 50s for (possible) future syndication. However, it will have to live up to Hasbro's "toy sales" designs, which will include a near-mandatory reboot, with all the "core" bots being replaced with "reinforcements" and/or being permanently upgraded, and it's release schedule will be timed to coincide with a "lull" in Hasbro's movie plans (or wait till after the third movie).

The current writer has probably been asked to move on because, if his primary (only) focus is TF-A, his "track record" is not conductive to Hasbro's designers, and future season(s) will be written by someone willing to swap the cast constantly.

I'm actually shocked that CN's "still" showing TFA episodes at all, must be part of the contract or something.

Notice, that of the 5 shows previously mentioned:
Ben 10 - 100% CN designed property, mainly on to support B10AF
Ben 10 Alien Force - 100% CN designed property in production
Secret Saturdays - 100% CN designed property in production
Brave and Bold (is that the new Superman/Batman thing? If so, it's on a lot cause it's in production)
Clone Wars - in production

During Season 2, Animated was getting multiple showings in "prime" time, but right now, there are no new TF episodes slated for release. Come March (or whenever S3 hits the airwaves) expect animated to be on more often, probably doing full-series repeats on weekdays.

I would like to see the Transformers return to their roots as "robots in disguise" than as a rip-off of Justice League. Animated has walked a fine line between the two but honestly if you have to humans super-villains fighting the Transformers then at least make them a threat to the Transformers, the only villains that do that on Transformers: Animated is Meltdown, Headmaster, and maybe Nanosec. The others should be given on try outs on Batman: The Brave and the Bold where they would fit in better.

Another thing to consider is this: DVD sales. Paramount has the deal to release all the current Transformers series and Cartoon Network Studios is owned by Warner Bros. I don't think Warner is very happy about making a series that they don't get to make as much money on as a series like Batman: The Brave and the Bold which they do own lock, stock, and barrel. That is where the real money is at for some TV shows is DVD sales and chances are that Warner Bros isn't making a dime on the DVD sales for Transformers: Animated.

Look I am just glad that Season 3 is coming back on this year.

I am seriously hoping that these are just rumors about season 3 ending at the end of this season.

I am hoping that the next new Transformers series will due away with the Human elements and go back to their beast wars roots.

Keep the Transformers on Cybertron, make the show more oriented toward adults younger teenage males.

Also every TF series talks about the Beginning of Time about Primus & Unicron and the Original 13 Transformers.

I think it would be a cool idea to make a cartoon series about this.

Also I would love to see a cartoon series based off of the Universe Toy Lines.

Also we could see a new cartoon where it is like a Beginning for Transformers, sort of like a prequel or a introduction about them.

But I do like the ideas mentioned above kool ideas. But animated is still going strong at the moment. And I expect that the next TF series wont be out for atleast 2 more years at the most.

Also I was kinda of hoping they would do something of how they are doing with GI Joe-Resolutte and make it a Direct-To-DVD thing also making it more bloodier and geared towards adult which would be a 1st for Transformes.

Transformers has always been geared towards younger kids 5 to 12 and I dont see that changing any time soon.

But overall I cant wait for Animated Season 3 and it is still to far off into the future to make any kind of judements or guesses about anything until official announcements are made from the source about it.

But those were some cool ideas mentioned above too bad though that will never become a reality but never say never and anything can happen.

Transfomers-Legacies

Transformers-The Rebirth

Transformers-A New Beginning

Transformers-Universe

Transformers-A New Hope

These are names on which the next Animated series could be called but knowing anything it will be totally diffrent and new.

I don't believe that season3 is going to be the last one TFA's doing to good to get axed now.

Hey your back

Rodimus2006 wrote:I am hoping that the next new Transformers series will due away with the Human elements and go back to their beast wars roots.

The entire premise of what you said is completely incorrect.

To begin with Beast Wars is not the "ROOT" of transformers.G1 is and G1 was full of "Human Elements".

Rodimus2006 wrote:Keep the Transformers on Cybertron, make the show more oriented toward adults younger teenage males.

I can agree with some of that.

Rodimus2006 wrote:Also every TF series talks about the Beginning of Time about Primus & Unicron and the Original 13 Transformers.

The G1 cartoon did none of those things.

So your wrong again.

And as far as I know very little has been said about the original 13 in any cartoon serries.

So would I.

Brave and the Bold is a new Batman series that has him fighting with a new partner in every episode and is verry simular to the Teen Titans series.

Their secret identities are rarely seen or mentioned but are refrenced quite a bit.

So far only the Blue Beetle has had his secretret identitity named and been shown out of costume.

Each episode seems to follow the same pattern. Batman is finishing a mission we never see the begineing of with one partner. Opening credits. The show begines with a new mission and some times a different partner. And the show ends with Batman's inner thoughts about what he thinks of this episodes guest starting hero.

Look we dont know if Season 3 is going to be the end of it or not.

Look lets all just wait and just watch Season 3.

Transformers Beast Wars is connected to G1, it takes place before G1. Also it showed Unicron but it wasnt really Unicron just like an ancient defense machinism.

True G1 didnt mention anything about the Original 13 Transformers but it did mention alot about Cybertron's Past.

Cybertron however did mention the original 13 bots also about Unicron & Primus.

A toon series based off of Universe would be the best thing ever but sadly I doubt it will ever happen.

Um... technically my idea proposed MORE of the desguise aspect than Transformers has ever had before.

If you notice each "Prime" was allso given a second name, their "secret identity" name.

Basically in my idea Orian Pax is to Optimus Prime what Clark Kent is to Superman.

It'd be an entire line of quadruple changers. They'd be disguised as other Transformers rather than vehicles or animals.

And really how much of a desguise can you possibly have on Cybertron. The only real desguise eliment they've ever had was on Earth and that never lasted passed the premear episode(s).

That's only half true. It was set in the past before G1 but the characters were from the future after G1 so technically everything that took place happened before G1 but was set after by the character if that makes any sence.
