Looks like the limits of its articulation is a 360° swivel at the shoulders and waist. Zero paint, it's all stickers and even then there aren't many. The monotone plastic is so rounded it looks like it was designed by Fisher-Price. I really don't see more than a few thousand of these being sold worldwide.

Well, since they're a UK con exclusive, I'll have to agree with you that only a few thousand will be sold worldwide!
I like them but they seem to suffer in a similar way to the Vector Powermaster Optimus set. They needed more time, more money and a larger release venue. Still, if I collected Joes I'd be all over these.

This design is based on the snake armor that was featured in the devil's due TF/GI Joe crossover, which were giant robot mecha rather than just suits of armor.
The fact that this particular design comes specifically from the TF/Joe comic makes it more relevant to the TF universe.

Really? Well, it has been a while since I read that comic.

And it's......these.
WTF? They are about as Transformers specifc as the Weeble Tree House.
I will not be doubling the attendance by heading to Southampton if this is what's on offer.

Maybe it's the red used for the molding but that one looks better than the Arashikage or Cobra models. Blood for the Baron indeed.

To be fair, the old Weeble Tree House DID kick ass...but yeah.

They're not molded, as far as I can tell, and based on the previous exclusive, these are kitbashes and painted.
griftimus prime wrote:they were in a comic once. so that makes them transformers related? sure
Yes, they where featured in a GI Joe vs TF comic series, in which they where made from Transformers tech. So yes, they are Transformers related.

The exclusive last year was a Pretender shell tribute to the Kraken Action Force figure and this is along the same lines and the shell has a minicon mount.
The details here are incomplete, so I can understand some of the confusion, but these are fan made to help support the show, so as a result there are some limitations to what can be made, but carrying on the theme of the Pretender shell. It does not exactly mimic the design SNAKE armour of the Dreamwave comics, but then that did not mimic the GI-Joe SNAKE Armour toy either, just as many 3rd party products do not replicate the inspiration they mimic.
It's not the only thing that has been created for the show either, so again, full verdict, relegation and the death seal is a little premature, but that's what forums are for
Personally I think it is cool, but I am more gutted that Motorthing won't double the attendance of the show, positive figureheads are always in demand.

The figures are not kit-bashes they have been scratch built for the show much like The Kraken last year.
The show is a G.I.Joe/Action Force/Transformers event. The Transformers side of the figure is that, much like The Kraken, that the figure doubles up as a Pretender shell.
There are more exclusives that you can see over at BloodForTheBaron which is where these preview images came from. Better images will be released soon.
These will not be produced in the 1000s, at the moment there will be 30 of each colour.
The figures come with a sticker sheet so that you can customise them for the faction(s) of your choosing.
As Dave Tree said they are not based on the IDW cross-over they are a continuation on the Pretender theme the show started last year, they have just been up-scaled so that they can hold a Joe figure or a Transformer.

I read the making off of the Kraken, and it was made from a cheap toy.
If the only conection to TFs with these SNAKEs is the fact that they can hold a Gi Joe in them, how does that count as a Pretender homage?
The original toy did the same as far as I know. So why even bother with these?
They look infirior to the original from the 80s and they're not based on the design they'Re advertised as.
