Hasbro has said that they are going to continue Generations through out the movie line.
So probably in the summer.

Yes, but it had no new head, and was a store exclusive.

I really like my Hardhead with head robots update as Hardhead, but I would still pick this up.
Any suggestions on who to repurpose it as?
Flak?
Tacker from Masterforce would work:

If that is the case, I still see it as 3rd Parties 1 Hasbro 0. My Hardhead actually is a head
master. I see what you are saying though but it will not discourage me away from the 3rd party market.

Anyways, this is pretty cool just for the fact that it's another Hardhead. Plus the new head looks pretty darn fine. I just wish that if they were redoing figures they'd give us a legit Ultra Magnus with his armor.

They also said at Toy Fair that the Deluxe Prime toys will displace Generations. So, come August, no more Generations. What will happen to Generations in Spring of next year is anyone's guess though.

I always thought a good way for Hasbro to make peace with 3rd parties was to let them know what toys were coming down the pipe early. Then they could be working on upgrade kits and driving sales of a would be minor item to the moon and back at retail because nobody else would have it to sell second hand.

One problem though: they're toys for kids. The increase in sales with your proposal is largely negligible because of it. Besides, those 3rd party items matching Hasbro's releases is pure coincidence at best, and they're created by hobbyists who don't have the money for a proper Transformer license.

I have to agree with you they all ready did him, as(Hardhead Ultra Class 25th Anniversary Transformers Universe Classic Series) with the upgrade. and then they made another update of the head master.(looking more like him ,in the show )how many times are they going to do a update. So they are going to redo warpath as hardhead . hmmmm
I would like to see Roadbuster so I can add him to my classic Wreckers collection .

Nooooot exactly.
Hasbro said to me that the Prime toys were moved from the Generations line to their own line. They didn't say anything to me about Generations ending and seemed excited about the discussion on what we thought the head reveals were.

Also, if they want to put out the Hardhead version again I'd happily take one in Quake colours.

The nerve of Hasbro to disrupt the 3rd party head makers.

Thrilled with the figure and I may be the odd man out, but I loves me an H-tank. Other then the head sculpt and some slightly below common articulation I give it an 8 out of 10. (you can tell they really tried to make a faithful head while being original so I gotta respect them for that)

That would mean Hasbro actually aknowledges they have competition. Maybe it's time collectors stop using the term "Third Party" and start referring to them as legitimate Transformer companies. Were giving Hasbro way too much credit. Henry Ford created the automobile, but we dont go referring to Chevy, Buick, and Dodge as "3rd party car companies" do we ??? Basically Hasbro needs to realize that just because they were the first, doesnt make them the best.

*Ahem* You mean "changing robot companies". Anyway, you still can't precisely call them legit until they start making original characters, as apposed to homages. Hasbro acknowledges them, and they'll let the homages slide so long as they don't turn a large enough profit that they pose a threat, which is unlikely as they aim only at the collectors market.
Bah whatever, I'm to tired for this...

Like the way Hasbro are releasing Hardhead to beat the third party add-on for...Hasbro's Hardhead? I agree with you in general but this is not the best example.
Rated X wrote:That would mean Hasbro actually aknowledges they have competition. Maybe it's time collectors stop using the term "Third Party" and start referring to them as legitimate Transformer companies. Were giving Hasbro way too much credit.
No. No they are not legitimate companies. They may be producing excellent figures and fufilling fan wants but nothing changes the fact that they are taking someone else's concept and making money from it.
And really if Hasbro are fighting the third partiers in this fashion I'm impressed. Rather than sending in the legal big guns or throwing a corporate tantrum they are apparently analysing what fans are demanding from the third partiers and producing their own general retail version of it.
Basically Hasbro needs to realize that just because they were the first, doesnt make them the best.
I don't even know what you mean by this. Third party companies produce high quality, veeeeerry expensive figures targeted exclusively at collectors. Hasbro produce low cost figures that are designed to appeal to a worldwide polydemographic audience. It's a faulty comparison.
EDIT: For some reason this topic always makes my blood boil, so apologies if I'm a little more effusive than usual.

On the subject of third party companies, I wish someone would come up with a G1 style head for ROTF Nightbeat. Love Scout cars and the colour scheme is amazing. Shame about the head.
Will definitely pick up Hardhead and Warpath. So glad he hasn't gotten a faceplate.

No he didn't. And amusingly, in the case of Transformers, neither did Hasbro.
Hardhead is a great choice for a remold. Yes, its a pity he won't be a headmaster, but if I'm honest, I always found headmasters a slightly dodgy idea in the first place

Bingo. Has there been a true competitor to Transformers outside of GoBots?
If I'm supposed to think of these companies as true competitors to Hasbro, they are going to have to do a lot more than push out add-on sets to Hasbro toys and figures that are obvious representations of Hasbro characters.
Releasing a toy of Arcee or Springer isn't competition. It's profiting off the character of another company. If they want to compete, they should come up with their own stuff.
Posted by Rated X on March 17th, 2011 @ 11:55pm CDT
P.S. After a little research I found out it wasnt Henry Ford who created the automobile. But Henry Ford is credited with being the first person to create a company to market the automobile in mass quanity and make it affordable for the middle class. So he is very similar to Mr. Hasbro in a way. But along came Chevy, Buick, and Crysler, to offer him some good ol American compitition by giving consumers things he wasnt giving them. These companies were not called third party car companies. They were the real deal. And just like them, Fansproject, I-Gear, Impossible Toys, Headrobots, and Perfect Effect are the real deal. Pay homage to the people who respect us...the collectors.
