However, in this case, the packaging is half the fun.
I just thought of the perfect word for these figures: droll.

Nope, they are shell formers. So the insides are filled with the bot mode parts.

My Nike Free 7.0 set came in today (the 8th) from BBTS. Unfortunetly the box was left outside and it rained all day. I came home to a soggy box and the Nike Transformer Boxes inside were wet as well! Megatron had a few sploches (barely any water damage) but Convoy was pretty bad on its upper right corner(totally soaked) and some dampness on the bottom.
Fast forward 2 hours and luckily both have dried out quite nicely and you can barely tell at all that there was any water damage.
Ive been toying with Megatron and I like the figure a lot. I wish there was more articulation in the elbow but other then that what a great figure. It was also nice and complicated as well.

Am I the only one who absolutely loves these?
How long do you recckon before they make a white pair of sneakers with prime's head and call it Ultra Magnus?

Someone made a photograph of it, and it was sufficiently humorous as to make the concept worthwhile in my eyes.

Nice pun!
What's different with the logos (besides the movie ones having that scratched-up metal look to them)?

Decepticon symbol:
The eyes are a different shape and in a different position that in the past. The eyes used to be much lower and an altogether different shape.
Autobot symbol:
The top of the Autobot eyes slant downward toward the nose. The triangle in the middle of the Autobot symbol's forehead no longer has a rounded top: it is now flat across the top.
My Opinion:
This was one of the first things that I was really irked about. I love the Autobot and Decepticon symbols. To me, they're as iconic as many other symbols such as the Coca-Cola logo, the Chevrolet bowtie and many other logos that we see everyday. Originally, I couldn't believe the audacity of the movie people that they thought they need to screw with the time tested Autobot and Decepticon symbols that have been fine for the past 23 years. To me this WAS one of those many unnecessary changes that the movie folks just had to screw with.
And then I saw the packaging and it occurred to me why the changes to the symbols were made (primarily in regards to the Decepticon symbol). If you notice on all of the packaging, the eyes for both symbols now display in the same position since the eyes on both symbols are along the same horizontal line when placed next to each other. I believe this was done for marketing purposes so that the two symbols could be easily interchangeable no matter which one was used. Once I had this realization, I accepted the new symbols because it was very obvious why this was done. Now, I only wish they had colored the symbols. I don't like the all-grey symbols but whatever ... that's the marketing scheme that's being used for this movie. I love the red and purple/blue magnets I have on my fridge of the new movie symbols, which I also use in the graphics for the movie news section.

Thanks for the insight! I actually never noticed that before. Though, I bet that's the first thing I notice from now on....

still i find the concept of a shoe transformer ridiculous. now.. if i could actually wear the thing... and what am i gonna wear on the other foot??
Posted by Liege Evilmus on May 9th, 2007 @ 8:24pm CDT
What would realy make these would be if they came as a pair that combined to form the bot. But I can see how they avoided doing that as kids normaly lose a shoe.

I get these from BBTS as a set for $59.99. They sold out and were able to get some more but now the set is $79.99.
TFsource had them as a set for $56.99 but they are currently sold out.
However Superbeeds still has them in stock but the set is $104.99!

voice of hoist wrote:I know they're the same mold yet somehow megs is so much better than prime (for once). Pity the mold wasn't 'mirrored' to give one right and one left shoe. Also, can the shell-wings be folded down behind to make them less obtrusive? I seem to remember some pictures showing this but I can't remember where.
yeah but if they mirrored the shoes that would mean who ever wore them has some serious mental issues regarding right and wrong..
Oh my..............., you know that kinda makes me think about if you had a decision, and Megatron jumps off your feet and says go for it, and prime jumps off you feet and says Just say No.. and the whole time your watching these shoes battle for the rights your thinking to your self, too late i already inhaled.. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAH
but if youtube marketed it as a commercial regarding basket ball or something that would be funny too, i guess we will see some crazy Transformers commercials regarding these shoe formers on Youtube.. or maybe Robot chicken will air something funny...

It also reminds me of the South Park episode with Pokemon. " I choose shoe! "

Candy Coated wrote:The idea is really cute and funny (and the shoe form especially looks great, could probably fool a few people with a picture), but I dunno...when you go back to the original idea? How much fun could a kid have playing with a shoe? Reminds me of the movie Big where he talks about playing with a building.

I don't think these were targeted towards kids.
