I don't have both, only the Siege version, but comparing that to the photo Will posted, they look to be completely identical, down to the plastic tie going through both of his fist holes.
So the answer is "no" then, got it. I mean, yes a straight repack appears to be the intention and 99% likely to actually be the case, but hearing assumptions like that thrown around as fact for years on some Superlink and Galaxy Force items that were merely very similar but not identical after all scarred me.william-james88 wrote:I saw that written on the boards where this latest picture comes from and I also saw in the image that his legs still have all that gunk. Really hoping we get those (or some other Seeker we haven't gotten, like Sunstorm or Slipstream) rather than Thundercracker and Skywarp. I'm aware this statement could piss some people but it would make sense Starscream is the only seeker in this trilogy to be done twice purely because of how big a seller he is and how he's one of the 'household' names in the series.
I agree, we have gotten the main 3 seekers in 4 size classes over the past 6-7 years, let us have coneheads again finally. I still need all of them

With regards to this mold... Frankly, I think they should have lead with Skywarp or one of the Coneheads rather than Starscream because of SIEGE Starscream lingering.
I don't want a Sunstorm redeco. Sunstorm should be a redeco of the SIEGE mold, IMO. Now, I wouldn't say no to a Slipstream redeco
Well, I can't help. I haven't even seen SIEGE Astrotrain on shelves, let alone Earthrise grumble grumbleScottyP wrote:Y'all ain't here until you produce Astrotrain comparison picschuckdawg1999 wrote:ScottyP wrote:TF-fan kev777 wrote:ScottyP wrote:Has anyone bought both and taken pics? Seems like a pretty prominent character from G1 who hasn’t gotten any run over the last few series- no?

Well, you could give him properly 5mm-compatible hands (his seem to be a bit off), but yeah. He could stand a reissue though, it's been a while.

Coming from someone who owns both PotP Jazz and Selects Ricochet, that mold is a better foot than a bot.ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:Sabrblade wrote:He was in Power of the Primes two lines ago, and you can't really improve upon the perfection that was Reveal the Shield Jazz.cackman17 wrote:I don’t mean to come out of left field on this one- but am I the only one thinking Jazz as really gotten a raw deal? I mean they overcame the cockpit paradox they’ve mastered waist swivel technology for Primus’s sake there’s no excuses.

Ahhhh, that's what they meant with eliminating it for the sake of transformation! For some reason, the cockpit piece has an extension in the back. The slot it leaves behind is for the hinge of the nosecone when it's lowered in robot mode position (unlike the Classics mold, it's attached to the cockpit, not the head, so it sits lower), that extension then ends up sliding into the waist area, effectively blocking it (even more with the skirt in front and the flap in the back).

Well, there's more to it than that. There's also the fact that the chest needs to be able to open up for the arms to tuck into the torso. Between accommodating that joint, and accommodating the cockpit, there's just no room for a waist swivel.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Stargrave wrote:Seems to me like if they could give Siege Starscream a waist swivel, and Jetfire a waist swivel, ER Starscream should have a waist swivel.

Stargrave, Skyfire A. is a Commander-class toy and thus has room for more complex engineering than a Voyager-class toy and B. uses the entirety of the chest to form the front of the jet mode (whereas the G1 Seeker design uses only the cockpit), so he doesn't have leftover sections of chest that need to open up for the arms to tuck in.
SIEGE Starscream is able to work in the waist swivel because of faux-parts and not having to care about altmode integration

He's ever so slightly smaller than Siege Starscream, if that helps. My best estimate is that the Classics one comes to about the Earthrise's chest.

1. The Takara Tomy "United" release is the superior version
2. It is a gorgeous toy, almost "Masterpiece" worthy
3. It's a pain in the butt to get the window speakers tucked away just right in alt mode.
4. The toy is just too big now for modern collections, unfortunately.

I think he's still quite viable. He does end up as a tall boy, but not horrifically so.

Other than that, though, we're due for some minibots. The last Brawn and Windcharger are fine, and the recent '85 bots are perfect, but we need proper versions of Huffer and Warpath. My secondhand T30 Gears has some faded paint, so I wouldn't mind him getting an update. I'm treating Earthrise Bumblebee as a certainty.
Once all of that is settled, then I'll be happy for a new Jazz.
Posted by cackman17 on February 14th, 2020 @ 10:31pm CST
I think Hasbro missed the boat on the mini bots. They were key G1 characters - could’ve gone with a mini bot series instead of the micro masters and been in good shape. Cliffjumper reboot in Earthrise is a tad too big. Nostalgia alone would’ve carried the mini bot reboot to a mid price point (above $9.99 micromaster) and I know I would’ve paid $14.99ish for siege mini bots.

Well, as I've said (a couple times now, I think) we're definitely getting Sunstreaker thanks to the Wheeljack mold (They have very similar transformations, and the way Earthrise Wheeljack's lower legs are done... Well, have a look below).AcademyofDrX wrote:PotP Jazz isn't up to the standards of WfC, but he's about the right size and has decent modes. I'm not saying he's great, but he seems right at home beside Sideswipe. I'm much more interested in the other '84/'85 characters we haven't seen since T30 than the second Jazz in two or three years.
I realize that we technically had Sunny semi-recently in Combiner Wars, but that one's a Breakdown mold in a Sunstreaker suit.
As for the others not adequately covered by SIEGE or Prime Wars...
* The Coneheads seem likely, given the design of the the ER Seeker mold.
* Inferno and Trailbreaker are gimmes.
That leaves Skids, Blaster, Cosmos (well, I suppose the T30 version got reissued in PotP), Huffer, Gears, Warpath, Tracks, Whirl, Roadbuster, the Omnibots, and the Deluxe Insecticons to be determined.
News flash buddy: Several of the Minibots were covered by Prime Wars already.cackman17 wrote:Big list.

1. Prime Wars is the trilogy that contains Combiner Wars, Titans Return, and Power of the Primes, so saying "Prime Wars and Titans Return" is redundant and ignorant.
2. So, you're saying that they're "off scale" because they were made bigger than the original Minibot toys to be IN scale with the similarly bigger-than-the-G1-toy versions of the rest of the cast? I don't think you know what scale means.
Or "Clunky" for that matter, because they have decent articulation for their small size. I know, I own some of them.
Posted by Emerje on February 15th, 2020 @ 4:34am CST
Reaction was kinda mixed. They were nice figures, but they didn't feel quite right with the rest of CHUG. The rebranded Legends scale during the Prime Wars Trilogy felt much more like part of the same line and scaled better with the rest of the figures.
Cliffjumper does make one thing possible and that's six-bot Combiners like Monstructor/Dinoking since it doesn't seem like we'll ever be getting those Dinobot and Terrorcon retools. A smaller bot with extra accessories could make it possible to bulk up the combined form with the extra parts needed to hold the whole thing together along with weapons, head, fists, and feet. It wont happen, but it's nice to know they've left a possibility open by redefining what it means to be a Deluxe.

Redundant, maybe, but ignorant? No, that’s not necessary.
Also they’re extremely clunky. I don’t think you know what clunky means.
