Yup.
Unless it's some sort of special exclusive Takara edition, the days of the "superior Takara paint job" are gone.
Glad that Hasbro decided to give us the "Takara paint" (while increasing the prices) instead of Takara giving the Japanese the "Hasbro paint". At least we no longer have to import anything anymore in order to have the "superior paint".

It might have been mentioned in the cartoon thread (this is the toyline thread), but I can't recall without double-checking.Skritz wrote:Huh, Takehito 'Dio Brando' Koyasu back into an Optimus role! That's one I didn't expect. He was Optimus Primal.

Honestly, in a lot of cases I don't think the "superior Takara deco" was better enough to be worth the fuss or the extra cost and bother.

It was a case-by-case basis. Most of the times, the Takara were better. Especially for the Henkei line. But sometimes, the Hasbro were the superior one. Especially for the TF Prime line when Takara's had NO paint and only stickers. Animated was debatable. Takara's were super painted, but had that super shiny color. Making them less cartoon accurate.
No matter superior or inferior, one would had to pay at the very minimum double or triple the Hasbro price for the Takara one factoring shipping. At least now, there's no longer any hard choices to make.

Evidently I didn't emphasize a certain key word properly. In a lot of the cases where the Takara deco was the better one, I don't think it was so amazingly better as to be worth all the fuss or going to extra cost and trouble to import.

On my end, I should have added:
"Whenever it was worth it paying double, triple, or quadruple the usual price for better paint was up to the buyer."
For me it was not worth it 90% of the time.

Speaking if which, was the gladiator fighting megatron in the begining of the Megatron is my Hero episode a generic using Grimlock's chatacter model?

Here's what he has to say about this figure:
Chuckdawg1999 wrote:I'm not going to go over all the complaints about the Cyberverse line, you're here so you're at least interested in this figure. After decades of being almost forgotten it's nice to see Alpha Trion getting some love if my counting is correct this is the third figure, the character has gotten. Drawing heavily on its G1 design the figure cuts a rather regal and knowing pose, Trion has seen and done things. Transformation is simple and as always the action feature works just ok. I can really only recommend it if you're a fan of Optimus Primes' wise mentor
We have embedded the video below for your convenience:
What do you think of this version of Alpha Trion? Will you be getting him to add to your collection, or are you happy with one of his other versions? It would seem that Alpha Trion is now forever doomed to continue aping the look Vector Prime's vehicle mode, which itself was already very similar to the Sith Infiltrator from Star Wars Episode 1.
Despite the Cyberverse line being so limited in articulation, I would actually argue that this particular Alpha Trion figure may look quite good when placed in a G1 collection among other similarly-articulated molds from the 1980s, specifically some of the non-Diaclone/non-Micro Change molds from 1986-onward. Like, this figure might look good standing next to some of the movie figures from 1986 like Hot Rod, Kup, Blurr, Springer, Wreck-Gar, Scourge, Cyclonus, etc.

The Facebook post also has attached a stock render for the already released, "Seekers 3-Pack," containing the Rainmakers, Ion Storm, Nova Storm, and Acid Storm. We already knew these were Target exclusives, and already had stock photography done.

At least I can expect seeing these figures, and hopefully they won't shelfwarm like a certain Target exclusive mask.

Hopefully, people will be able to get their hands on these figures, including the baddest shark around, Sky-Byte, the Autobot scientist Jetfire(who has a grimmer facial expression than Prowl), and that treacherous schemer Screamer soon.
Will you be hunting for these figures now? Will you be passing on the poet (or the others)? Tell us in the discussion below.

Fans have been especially excited for Scraplet being our first official figure of the biggest natural threat to Transformers life since cosmic rust and gold plastic syndrome. Chuck points out, and rightfully so, that Scraplet is probably the only Scout class figure many fans will ever buy and they'll likely be buying multiples. While it's a very simple figure with no articulation worth mentioning it does look good in both modes and has an effective gimmick that can be used in either mode.
As for Energon Axe Attack Optimus Prime it appears to be either a new mold or an extensive retool of the previous Ion Burst Optimus Prime figure. While the bot mode is a little more colorful this time around with more detailed paint apps and an open face head sculpt, the alt mode isn't very appealing to adult collectors and the new battle gimmick is very awkward.
Chuck also points out that while these haven't turned up at most retailers yet, both online and off, you can get Scraplet and Energon Axe Attack Optimus Prime on the still running Hasbro Toy Shop eBay store right now!

Not the first time I made that slip. I think Gnaw is part of this wave but it wasn't up on eBay. Amazon is funny like that too with the armor figures. All of the small ones but Sky Byte.

Yes, but not in this form, and I think this is a case of the Cover outperforming the original. Maybe it just has to do with the Pdime version bei g more recent and therrfore more relevent, but I think down the road if you say "Scraplet", people are gonna think of the these silver bug-eyed mouthful of sawblade critters and not the almost disney comic looking Marvel Scraplets that were literal living nuts and bolts

First off from our own Seibertronian ScottyP comes sightings of some of the new Cyberverse Basic Assortment at a Target in North Carolina. Scotty learned that basics are $14.99, and Elite are $24.99. The case breakdown for Basics looks to be 2x Starscream, 2x Sky Byte, 1x Prowl and 1x Jetfire. Elite seems to be 2x Optimus, 1x Bee, and 1x Megatron. (Also spotted at the same Target was the new Siege Micromaster 10 pack so make sure and check your local stores they're definitely making their way across the nation)
Then thanks to a member named terrific over at TFW2005 we've learned the new Tiny Turbo Changers Series 1 has hit the shelves of at least one WalMart in Ottawa, Canada. They've also learned a way to decode which character is in which blind bag! The code starts with a letter of the alphabet and it’s this letter that tells you who is inside. terrific has also provided us the full list of codes.
Tiny Turbo Changers Series 5 Identification Codes list:
A – Bumblebee
B – Optimus Prime
C – Grimlock
D – Autobot Hot Rod
E – Jetfire
F – Autobot Drift
G – Blackarachnia
H – Decepticon Shockwave
I – Soundwave
J – Megatron
K – Starscream
L – Prowl
Then lastly thanks to a listing at Amazon Mexico we have an image of the lineup for Series 2 of the Tiny Turbo Changers. In it we see Starscream, Megatron, Drift, Prowl, Grimlock, Jetfire Hot Rod, Shockwave, Black Arachnia, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Soundwave.
As always enjoy the images and share your views with the Seibertron crew in the forums, and stay tuned to Seibertron for the ultimate in Transformers news!
