ON.cc has posted a few new images of MP-09 Rodimus Prime that give us a closer look at a couple of his gimmicks, his previously unseen Matrix and his face swap feature. We also get another look at the previously reported collector's coin. The color in these pictures looks slightly pink, but hopefully that's a lighting issue.

I think that this is the first Masterpiece I have no interest in. I'll just stick with my Protector for now.

I'm trying not to get to excited for the figure. The pessimist in me keeps saying there's going to be some horrible defect that we won't know about until people start getting him. Other than that this will be the figure of 2011 and the second greatest MP ever made.

Well MP Hot Rod looks pretty damn good..also shouldn't this "his previously unseen Matrix and chamber and his face swap feature" read "his previously unseen Matrix chamber and his face swap feature"?

Impossible, we've had Optimus and Grimlock. :P

Why does he have to be $200? Not only do i not have that kind of money but even if i did i couldnt justify spending 200 bucks on a single figure, 100 maybe but 200 is way to much.

I am almost certain this will be the first Masterpiece I get. I hated all the others. I just hope he doesn't dwarf G1 Galvatron.

They've all been great so far. Takara MP Prime is amazing in detail, heft and transformation. Magnus is a nice recolor. Despite his flaws, Megatron is pretty innovative and he does look really cool in his robot mode with his big old fusion cannon and in spite of his spindly legs. Grimlock is drool-worthy with all his cool gimmicks and eye-shifting. And the Seekers? Skywarp is my favorite, followed closely by Ghost SS, and then the other 3: Acid Scream, Thundercracker, and Wal-Scream. But yeah, 5 fantatic molds so far. I'm really glad I pre-ordered this. I can't wait for Rod to come in!

Looks awesome. I'm guessing the pink is just the lighting. Even the orange looks washed out in those images. The bottom pic looks better. Great job with the Matrix, it's even an improvement over Primes. Looks really good. I wish I could afford it right now.

Awesome figure but I think I will have to settle with my FP Rodimus Prime for now. Plus he's more to scale to an Ultramagnus +trailer :)

Anyone remember where he used a visor over his eyes? I remember that for Arcee, but not roddy.

He should be magenta. This looks pretty perfect to me if the colors are accurate.

You're going to be waiting a long time as it was recently revealed he's going to be a Toys R Us Exclusive in the USA and UK.

puttster3 wrote:Anyone remember where he used a visor over his eyes? I remember that for Arcee, but not roddy.

When Daniel sees the hole in the Autobot Shuttle in the movie, Hot Rod uses this visor to get a zoomed in look at the shuttle, then starts attacking it while he still has the visor down.

Thats really cool that you can do either Hot Rod or Rodimus Prime. And his chest opens up for the matrix, and a faceplate that accomodates the viewfinder/binocular accessory. I wanna see the wrist-installed sawblade.

The closer his colours are to how he looked in the movie the better - if that means that red becomes kind of pink/magenta then bring it on. I'll buy whichever version is more movie accurate. :BOT:

what prices are you guys paying? $150 from etoysjapan and i'll get it in my hand in the UK within about 4 days of release, Also picking up re release Megatron and Optimus for under $100 each.

And my comment on this figure - immense

Also curiously Roddy seems to have Seeker fingers...thumb and index individually articulated and the last three are molded together

Not much into Rodimus, but this figure is pretty sweet, but rather have Hot Rod with a Target master as a MP collectible.

That's more of a Magenta than a pink, so it's on the borderline of Red and Pink, but that's how he was in the 1986 Movie. I like it.

I do want this figure badly, but I probably won't get my hands on him until my Tax Returns come in. There are so many things I want this year. Verizon iPhone 4, Nintendo 3DS and this. It's going to be one or the other.

And I hope he's affordable.

Hasbro isn't going to add the trailer as that effectively prices him out of most people's spending limit and any retailer from wanting to carry it because it ends up too expensive and too large.

So either make due without or buy the TakaraTomy one.

So what are the odds that a 3rd party releases a trailer for the Hasbro MP Roddy that would cost less than $140 and be more aesthetically pleasing (sans shell). What would a MP Protector look like? Would the rumored Targetmaster have somewhere to chill? Sorry purists, had to be asked.

Upon further observation... forget it. I wouldn't buy it anyway.

I guess it's to much for Hasbro execs to lower the profit margin or take the monetary difference out of their own pockets? I wonder if the US directions will even mention Rodimus mode.

You forget that Hasbro is in it to make money, they're not going to sell a very large collector item and not expect to turn a profit on the cost to produce it. You're asking for way too much and either have to make due with the Hasbro version, buy the TakaraTomy one, or whatever. Hasbro isn't going to price this down, taking a loss on each figure just so you can get all that you want at a cheaper price. That's really a ridiculous question.

Why would anyone bother? Plus the MP Convoy trailers only came out because he didn't have one when he was first released, Rodimus will.

Plus the MP Trailer was like $60 or $90 for just an empty trailer (nothing inside of it). Anything more elaborate would be the cost (or more) of the figure with the trailer. Several websites had this item for less than $200 too (I think I'm paying around $150 for mine).

People just have to realize if they don't want to pay the price of the import they're not going to get the trailer. I'm sure Hasbro's decision was either no trailer or no figure at all, and I don't think people would like that second alternative.

I knew it was a pipe dream. I was just thinking in this day and age of corporate greed being shown to cause all the worlds ills that Hasbro would take a stand. I'm not even sure if it's Hasbro setting the price. Toys R Us, who are getting the figure, have set the bar for their MP at $60 and no higher. I don't think they want something more expensive. Another point, who says we're not getting a trailer? They might include a cardboard one in the box.

Huh? Corporate greed? In my opinion, greed is when someone wants a toy so badly that they want the company to sell it to them at a loss. Collecting Transformers is an expensive hobby, especially Masterpieces, which are designed specifically for collectors. Get used to it.
