Yeah, the non-existent articulation has lowered this entire line to the level of a pitiful joke for me

I'd definitely pick up some of these if the articulation was increased, like Sandsting and Ratbat

Well, now they seem to have changed their mind about that since the Legends line will be getting Legends class Titans Returns molds in it.[BW] Rainmaker wrote:Sabrblade wrote:I guess Takara, for some reason, doesn't want the Legends line to have any figures smaller than Deluxe class anymore. Clampdown really dissapointed me. I am not fond of how they handled his pincers. Neat transformation though.

Bummer about the claws but how much more do we expect from legion class? but he is an awesome little crustacean

I expect a bit more. Groundbuster is far mroe articulated than all the others and Megatronus has a rotating turret and a removeable cannon that can be reattached. I dont think we should be too complacent.

Her face in robot mode is not so hot. I keep all my RiD legions in vehicle mode b/c I think they all look so much better that way.

Yeah, thats true. Except for Megatronus though, I feel he works better in robot mode. And man that legion prime looks really good in truck mode. Of all the versions of that alt mode released by hasbro, its the Legion Class which I feel makes it works best for some reason. Everything tabs perfectly and I love how the slant of the foot is aligned with the slant in the hands:

I'd say that middle child Jan Prime is probably the best RID prime mold though (not counting the fancy giant ones).
So, anyway... is that Windblade worth $6?
Posted by Noideaforaname on May 17th, 2016 @ 5:38pm CDT
There really aren't any other Transformers that can do the car-with-a-face look, are there?
Drift is so orange, I don't think the pictures really capture it that well.
I dunno how Windblade manages to be from the same line as Fixit. I mean, I do because WB has to also be a flat jet and Fixit's free to sacrifice his alt mode for anything and everything, but still the difference between the two is startling.
And I'm disappointed how Thunderhoof went with two sets of antlers instead of trying for a happy medium.

That was the 2001 Robots in Disguise series. This is the 2015 Robots in Disguise series. The name "Robots in Disguise" keeps getting tossed around to refer to multiple different things. Just a few years ago there were an IDW comic series that bore the name of "Transformers: Robots in Disguise" as well, which has since dropped its subtitle to currently be known simply as just "Transformers" due to the 2015 series coming about and Hasbro not wanting to cause confusion between the unrelated IDW comic and the 2015 series. And it was also previously the subtitle for the second Transformers Prime toyline, with the first being "Transformers Prime: First Edition" and the third being "Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters", long with a few other supplementary lines.skywarp-2 wrote:Wait a minute, wasn't the RID series once the USA name for Car Robots?? Wow! thanks for the info.. Confusing.. I mean if they wanted to do a Multiverse series, it would be forever adding and introducing new characters for every series.. I kinda liked it better when there were just a few series to go to.. Now with the advent of a new anthology cartoon series it seems like coming out every 2 years or so, it's hard to keep up..I always preferred the old Car Robots series of figures.. Not sure about the anime, as I never saw it, but the figures seemed much more robust and quality, it seems like now everything has a cheap plastic look, and no chrome, or diecast, unless in over sized and masterpieces, or Leader class, but sparingly..economy schmonomy, they can do better for the prices we pay for their trinkets..Don't get me wrong, the new series of RID is okay.. the robots look good (some of them) but I still have the feeling they could do a bit better in the quality dept.

well there are all these new series that keep coming out. Like the Transformers animated series, Robots in disguise, and best Hunters, unless they are all part of the original series that came out when the bayformer's movie came out, in that case I am mistaken, but from the get go there have been so many series of Transformers, it seems like they make a new cartoon series and toy series every two years.. I suppose I liked the universe continuing like Generation One did up to Transformers zone, then beast Wars, Beast machines, and Beast Wars II, which all sort of were in the same universe some events happening in the future, and some in the past. I liked Robot masters, that series seemed to be able to pull characters from the entirety of their multiverse at that time. now with Car Robots, armada, galaxy, and so on, there is just so much out there, that a fan can become confused with the titles, especially if they take from one series and tie it to a new one.Sabrblade wrote:Huh?skywarp-2 wrote:Now with the advent of a new anthology cartoon series
Well what I meant there was cartoon series, that seem to be stand alones, or maybe continuations under a different title, tho I suppose that has always been the case.

Kind of crazy how much of a difference this is compared to the last ime we had legion Ultra Magnus toys in a show series. Last time, not only did we get an optimus retool (and a nice retool at that) but we also had another one which was a complete new mold!
And now we just get a redeco.

But yes, I agree some of the legion figures are not created equally.

Cyberverse had two Classes: Legion and the bigger Commander, with the latter no longer in use. Those figures up there are Commander Class.

Yeah, they are cyberverse and this RID LEgion class is what replaced the cyberverse figures.

The choice of apps they went with is undeniably clever - can't fault choosing areas that are seen in both mode - but it still looks too much like an finely detailed white brick for my liking.

Its not rhetorical. Just a legit question. Because whatever the answer people give (and I think both yes and no are legit) would be the same answer to the fabled question "Is Chromedome a retool of Dead End". I still think there is a different between these examples and toys that share similar transformations since these are legitimate attempts at replicating a transformation, and they do copy a previous engineering design. So while it isnt a retool per say, I still think its less original in a way. But thats just me.

I say NO. Reusing a particular transformation scheme has been done plenty of time, especially with simpler toys. Such figures are not considered retools, otherwise almost every Micromaster would be related to one another.
Retools are purely physical in nature, as they involve changing or switching out already existing parts. Reusing transformations is part of the design phase on paper, no existing parts involved. That's the main difference.
The AoE One-Steps had less variety in transformations, having only 4 to 5 schemes. Yet we didn't consider them retools...
