We thank Sabrblade for letting us know of a new trailer for the upcoming Earthspark show. This show will be on Paramount Plus first, and then on Nickelodeon (both owned by the same company). This trailer gives us a lot more Megatron. There seems to be some confusion regarding this character switching sides, but he still retains his Decepticon symbol, is himself a Decepticon, and still sounds very much like Megatron. The "change" here though is that after his war against the Autobots, he allies himself with humans to take down the new enemy Mandroid. The trailer also shows us Swindle and Hardtop and we get to hear Nolan North, who voices them.

No way, Hardtop?! Cybertron Hardtop was my first ever Transformers toy! I had him stand in as leader of my Decepticons until I got a proper Megatron, and head-canoned him into being a high-ranking and powerful member. As one of the line's toy-only characters, I figured he was forever destined to remain obscure. I can't believe he's finally getting some action, and that they've even retained his relationship with Swindle. That is some deep-core lore this show is getting into. I'm becoming increasingly excited for this show with every new thing they reveal about it!

Is Mandroid mind controlling the Decepticons? The way he's talking in this trailer makes it sound like it. I'm looking forward to this show more than I though I would.

I thoroughly enjoy hearing a human call Megatron "Megs".

I am loving what I am seeing with this Megatron. I am so excited to get more into him!

Also, Hardtop is such a deep cut and I love it so much.

I feel like Hardtop is going to be this series's Prime Cliffjumper, a sacrificial lamb to be killed off early on for the sake of making the new villain seem intimidating, what with Hardtop's arm being part of the Mandroid build-a-figure in the toyline.

I'm sorry guys, but this kind of looks fun.

Megatron an Autobot, very interesting!
I saw a pink Arcee.

New transformers species Terrans, cool idea.

The cop mom is kinda hot and I would love her to be a cool team with Megatron.

I'm mildly excited for this.

"What about an autobots-decepticons tango?",they fight and dance to death to avoid the bullets TOGETHER.That can be the meaning:it références the prescence of Megatron with them.

The name of Ghost has been mentioned and not just in the leaked synopsis, the human alliance, there's nothing surprising about them except we don't exactly know what they do to captured cybertronians.

I don't think they're going all IDW on Megs and making him an Autobot. They just say he's not a Decepticon anymore. The logo on his chest is not an autobot logo, so maybe an non-aligned or Terran aligned faction or some other third path faction.

I just assumed it was Mandroid's logo, since it seems he's controlling the Decepticons and Megs mighta broke out of his control.

Optimus and Elita wear the same symbol. It's a tree with a :BOT: or :CON: in it depending on who's wearing it.

In Cybertron, Hardtop and Swindle are brothers. Hardtop is green and purple as opposed to Swindles beige and purple.

HOLY SCRAP HARDTOP MY BELOVED! Loved that figure as a kid and still have him, the movie repaint and the swindle one in my collection still, always loved his look, and he's always my go to character for a Decepticon sniper character and I've considered him to be an honorary Combaticon or in some continuities who was supposed to be in Swindle's place until an untimely demise.

I am beyond stoaked to see him here, even if he doesn't really quite match up with his Cybertron design although his gun does, if they removed the ear things he'd look more on point but Hardtop is Hardtop and I hope he gets a good long role on the show-

I would argue he might still be safe, the Mandroid BAF also includes Swindles arm for the left arm, so he might just scavenge damaged parts too, or dissect without killing ala Prime Breakdown in season 1

If they can play out the inner conflict of being a Decepticon for millions of years and finally making the decision to stop conquering well, I'll be happy. This could ALMOST be a sequel to Prime where Megatron changed and left the 'Cons after Unicron subjugated him...

Prime did it well. I'm dreading that they will draw from the IDW version. Which cut corners to push the story forward. That was completely at odds with all prior in-universe characterisation.

Honestly, I'd say IDW did it better because they at least used the concept for something, regardless of how well executed it might have been. Prime just closed on Megatron's redemption, and the sequel pretty much ignored it - in fact, with how many Decepticons tried to contact him throughout the series, one would think he was still evil, just lost or imprisoned (then again, that's more RiD2015's fault than Prime's).

My only issue with the presentation is how chummy everyone is with him. I can understand Optimus due to his merciful personality and the new characters for not being alive during the war, but what about the rest of the Bots and humans who experienced or are privy to his (supposed) atrocities? Isn't Dot an ex-soldier, or wasn't she around during the war?

Also, good to know Mandroid is a nickname that stuck instead of something he chose to call himself. Lets me take the villain much more seriously.

It bring this subject:who is the most awful?I would say G1 cartoon a retarded psychopath and BEAST MACHINE a divinity who stole the souls of a whole planet for himself.

New trailer/clip on Nickelodeon Twitter.

Nice to finally see some of the G1-esque flashback animation. And I really love the mix of 3D environment & characters with 2D effects.

Though it is kinda awkward to hear them call Twitch & Thrash the first Earth-born Cybertronians (weren't some Transformers like the Dinobots built on Earth all the way back since the G1 cartoon?) or that Twitch is the first Transformer with a drone alt-mode (sorry Prime Soundwave!). Feels like when HasLab claimed their Victory Saber was the first American toy of a Japanese-only character.

Aside from his appearance in TF:TM, Sunbow Megatron was never a threat. Much like Filmation Skeletor and '87 Shredder. They were part of a very strange trend of utterly ineffectual villains in the 80's. I still don't get the reasoning for it? Since there were other 80's villains that didn't go down this route.

Also ironic, considering the comic book counterparts of each* were often the opposite.

BW Megs only really did "terrible" things, when he arrived on Cybertron after the Beast Wars. Arguably under the corruption of G1 Meg.

*Not Mirage Shredder, obviously.

And that's awful in its way, held back by the context yaya.

Terrible is never used to say "low quality" in my language, more like terrorsome, terrific.I don't care about BW at all. He's a divinity who despises mortals and their primitive forms, looks undead by the way.How did he got there?I'm not discussing.

I know, but for some reason I felt those two comments (particularly regarding Twitch's altmode, which seems really odd to point out) were a bit more meta than the rest. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

G1 Megs' incompetence can be chalked up to the same limitations a lot of toy-oriented 80's cartoons had to go through to be allowed to air.

Also funny to see how easily people look at BW Megs' megalomaniacal comedy and forget his plans often involved a lot of genocide and risk of destroying the space-time continuum. Really, the biggest change between that and BM is that he got a god complex and stopped being funny and melodramatic about it (also for some reason began to care about honoring deals even when he had no reason to).

The god complex sorta began in the last episode of Beast Wars, when he started claiming to be the Alpha and Omega and spouted about how his victory was inevitable and preordained.

Thanks for that Sabr!

It was fine. The reason I don't go further than that is that this episode is basically everything that happened in the trailers and previews prior.

We also have an alternate-Sunbow history. So this show is a G1 sequel. Just not the established one. Which is interesting. Also, basically the kids are binary bonded. This universe's equivalent of Master-tech.

From what was written, only the first episode is available on Nickelodeon's YouTube page. The rest will be on Paramount+. Which means this is probably the only one I'll be seeing. As I'm tired of 1001 streaming services at this point.

Unfortunately, it is geolocked. Not even those in the U.S. can view it. BUT, the video has been mirrored on Facebook and we have that below for you as well, so everyone can see it. Here is a description of the show for those unaware:

- The show skews slightly older than Rescue Bots
- It takes place after a war between Decepticons and Autobots similar to what happened in G1
- Transformers are now a part of the culture, as it is in ours, but in this case the comic books and shows are based on real events that previously within their world.
- This episode does have some new G1 styled animation to recount the events of the war
- The show so far is serialized, so you do not get a complete story/adventure in this one episode.

Good start, I enjoyed that

That flashback sequence was very very basic. The animation was very minimalistic, with mostly shots of stilled images staying put or sliding across the screen, with only a handful of shots that were properly animated fully. It reminded me a lot of how Filmation cartoons of the 1970s were animated, like Star Trek: The Animated Series. Most of it also looked to be completely traced over from certain shots of the G1 cartoon and movie, rather than completely original animation.

It should also probably be pointed out that in no way can this show actually serve as a sequel to the G1 cartoon. The details don't match up at all. The Autobots and Decepticons came to Earth not aboard the Ark and Nemesis four million years ago, but through the space bridge in 1984. The events of TFTM seemingly never happened either, as Megatron is still Megatron and the war apparently ended when Optimus made the decision to destroy the space bridge, as it was the Transformers' only way back to Cybertron. Meaning there were no space-worthy guys like Omega Supreme, Astrotrain, Sky Lynx, etc. in the Earth-based war. Elita One was also apparently part of the Earth-based Autobots, when her G1 cartoon episode made it abundantly clear that she and the other female Autobots missed the boat on that one.

I only bring all this up because, as soon as the first trailer that showed our first glimpse of this flashback went online, the Internet exploded with people jumping up and down saying "IT'S A SEQUEL TO THE G1 CARTOON!!!" >:oP

The use of Sunbow art seems to have been as inciting online, as that time Animated used some. It's been nearly 40 years, people. They are never going to do a sequel to Sunbow. Nor should they. Plenty of better writing and continuities have kept the series going til this point.

Meanwhile, I noticed the lack of Space fliers too. The loss of a space bridge isn't a big deal to any of those Sabr mentioned. Also, if TFTM never happened. That would explain Megatron. In that he never had his single moment as a true threat...

So it's bad. Got it.
Designs are obviously AI generated, Elita's headcrest is off center in both the show and the deluxe figure, and Soundwave's crotchplate is also is visor for some reason, not a mistake a human would make twice and if so, it's inexcusable.
I don't care whose fault it is, if it's the investors' fault for rushing them, so be it. The human protagonists are bland, boring, and obnoxious, but we haven't had likeable HUMAN protagonists (Sari doesn't count) since Cybertron (2005). Mo Malto's design is terrible, her eyes and head are too big and her proportions are off as in many shots she looks bigger than her brother.
This show also has no idea what continuity is as we're shown the kids in the 84 animation style from when the Earth War started even though it's clearly the 21st century.
Alan Tudyk is wasted and his voice direction is terrible, but that's not his fault. This show is written for 6 yo's after all, despite Prime and Animated appealing to the same age demographic this show claims to. It's a damn shame because He's the most original Optimus voice since Garry. It's nice to see someone not trying so hard to be Peter, but since Jon is a user here, this'll just get ridiculed, even though HE'S the one accepting the work and putting Peter out of a job alongside Jake. Jon's a phenomenal G1 Starscream, so he could just voice the characters of voice actors long since passed.
It's honestly a shame how you all just sit back and ignore what's so blatantly wrong with this show, the designs, the story, the art style, just because it's "a kids show" when other shows with the same demographics were so much more mature. It's this kind of fence sitting and pussyfooting that gets these shows made, and we're all the worse for it.
This show is a nothing burger and will continue to be so.

:???:

1. Soundwave isn't even in this episode.

2. Elita's head crest off centre is a criticism of what, really? Aside from anal retention..

3. If they haven't had a human protagonist you have liked since 2005. That doesn't sound like a problem with the show either.

4. The Sunbow animation was a call back. But the story it was telling was new. There is no confusion if you actually listened during the scene.

5. I didn't see any issue with any of the voices? No one else who has watched it has said otherwise either. Which everyone did when WFC debuted.

I don't think anyone is blatantly ignoring anything with this show. Just not hopping on a bandwagon of irrational hate. It's been one episode, get a grip. :HEADHURTS:

1. Soundwave doesn't need to be in the episode for my point to be true, read what I wrote.

2.Its a tell that these designs weren't an err of a human being as it was made several times and hasn't been corrected, attesting to the laziness

3.Sari isn't a human, and Jack was nothing, Miko is an idiot and almost gets herself killed constantly, Raph exists, Danny and Russel exist. Coby, Bud, and Lori provided something every episode, Coby even building his own mech to help fight.

4. The animation has nothing to do with it, I'm referring to the Mom having the kids with her during the war despite the war being in 1984 AS STATED BY THE FATHER making the kids roughly 38 years old.

5.The direction is bland and stale, Of course Union voice actors like Garry, Peter, David getting the shaft once again, with the exception of Nolan North who is also given terrible direction.

And lastly, there's no irrational hate, it is a bland, stale, forced attempt to put out a transformers show with no new concepts because the investors are pushy and greedy.

Yes it does. To critique someone that hasn't yet appeared in a full episode, is a redundant point to make. That's judging something you haven't seen. Which is asinine.

No, just anal retention. I could point and laugh at the real example of that being virtually episode of Sunbow.

Again, these are your problems. These are favourite characters to people that actually go into these shows to enjoy them.

 Did she state that she had kids in 1984, the inciting year of the war and that the war only lasted a year? I must have missed that line... >:oP

Based on half a dozen voices from a relatively dialogue light pilot episode? That's reaching, at best.

No new concepts? So you didn't actually watch the episode. Or take note of the subtitle??

...Ok

Not a bad start, all things considered. I've definitely going to be watching the second half.

Not worth signing up for paramount Plus for. In addition, internet is too unreliable out here in rural areas for good streaming (includes cellular signals, which are often 3G out here). Unfortunately, the 25% of the American population in rural America that can't get good internet without paying tons to Viasat or Hughesnet doesn't matter to these companies. Starlink is the final answer to that, but it's a very slow rollout. If I want to see it, I'll have to hope for some kind of DVD release.

I can't critique the DESIGN of a character that hasn't been in an episode yet even though that DESIGN HAS BEEN RELEASED ONLINE?!?!?

SUNBOW'S ANIMATION ERRORS DIDN'T APPEAR ON THE TOYS. NOR DID ANIMATED'S!!! SO many things point to the designs being AI generated, the proportions, the sizes, EVERYTHING. At LEAST Wyatt's designs had a style and purpose, but the PROPORTIONS on Earthspark's DON'T.

Danny and Russel are nobody's favorite characters, and just because people like characters doesn't mean they're good characters. You don't think Jar Jar was a bad character? EVERYTHING HAS A FANBASE, THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S GOOD.

Maybe don't draw your main characters in the art style of the time period used to illustrate said time period, then get mad at me for thinking you screwed up continuity.

"Based on half a dozen voices from a relatively dialogue light pilot episode? That's reaching, at best."
If I pull my pants down on your dinner table and squat over your plate, what do you think is going to come out? A Prime Rib? We have had Five shows since Prime that has TERRIBLE voice acting with the exception of RID (from a VA perspective) It's time to wise up and notice when you've been had, stop giving them money, stop giving them viewership.
AND NO, THERE AREN'T ANY NEW CONCEPTS, THEY'VE BEEN USING THE ALLSPARK FOR FIVE GODDAMN YEARS, AND THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME MEGATRON'S BEEN AN AUTOBOT, AND EVEN THEN, DON'T INTRODUCE GENOCIDE INTO YOUR CHILDREN'S SHOW IF THE MAIN ANTAGONIST DOESN'T SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES. IT'S A BAD LESSON. YOU THINK JEFFREY DAHMER WAS REDEEMABLE? MEGATRON CAN SLAUGHTER INNOCENTS FOR MILLIONS OF YEARS, BUT JEFFREY DAHMER CAN'T WALK FREE?

IDIOT.
