Weird!
Optimus looks like the design from Transformers Prime a little. They should have really changed it up if they want to increase sales of toys...
I'm hoping for a Gavatron character. I'm thinking there is a possibility his toy might satisfy classics as well.
I would love all 5 dinos in the movie, to add to there popularity, so we get some classics toys as well.

On the other hand, we've had 4 different silver cars already.

As far as Prime's new alot mode. Its not bad, but its not great either.
Likes-
-Color choices
-new truck type
-Bigger, more bulkier stance.
Dislikes-
-Triple Chrome stack. At certain angles, it looks like its just one big smoke stack instead of three
-Buldge on the hood. The nose is tall enough. Didn't need to add to it.
-Mirrors. Really?? Prime is 13 feet tall in truck mode and you add in some tiny ass mirrors meant for a Datsun 240Z?? Terrible. Just terrible.
As for those complaining about them being to flashy and not "robots in disguise"... TF have always had some sort of flash to them. IN G1 Mirage was an F1 car. Jazz a Porche 953, Warpath a red Tank, Powerglide a red A-10 warthog, decepticon seekers were muli color F-15's, etc. TF: Energon brought Prime as a fire truck with giant folded wings and water cannon's on the side. Face it people, flash sells. And when all this is said and done, there summer movies designed to make money. Personally, i'd much rather look at a Green hopped up corvette over an 80's minivan any day.

Dammitman wrote:The vehicles look cool but I am concerned about one thing in particular. The Optimus Prime truck is a custom, therefore actually seeing it on the road is nigh impossible unless you happen to live where they are filming. I don't know about the rest of you but growing up as a kid with Transformers, road trips were more fun if you could spot an autobot on the road. Seeing a yellow Volswagon bug meant Bumblebee was nearby. Happen to see a white Porsche, bet that was Jazz. It really is a nothing thing but custom vehicles for Transformers just take the fun out of it.
As I stated earlier, G1 had quite a few exotic cars themselves. Mirage was an F1 car, Warpath a red tank, etc. Now fast forward to today, you c!n easily see about 10 yellow camaros a day, black Topkick trucks aren't all that unlikely as well. Check, it's not even uncommon to see a CH-53 helicopter fly over ( Blackout).
Sorry but this isn't the 80's and flashy sells. That's one thing I like about th movie alt modes. There unique.

1. Why is an aerialbot now a car?
2. Drift was not a Samurai as a decepticon.
Different continuity, different origins. Think of how Optimus acquired this universe's Matrix. He didn't have it on the fly in the beginning of the franchise.
Plus, those are names that haven't been used in the movie frachise, might as well make use out of them.

Eagleblaster wrote:That new prime looks good to me. All of that flame details probably won't make it to the toy, that's a lot of paint for one figure.
Not really. Visualizing a toy out of this, it would most likely have about the same amount of paint as the past movie Optimus Primes, whom also had flames on their chassis.
Samurai Drift, sounds good. I hope that Bugatti becomes a leader class figure that would be or they could make it voyager size or even better make it a human alliance figure that came with a hubcap figure that fitted in the trunk or hood of the Bugatti.
Didn't you know? Those spots are reserved for Bumblebee, since he's so popular.
I can see a Human Alliance coming out of this, but a straight up Voyager or Leader? That would wreck up the scale, if they decide to have scale as precedent. Now if he had been like a tank or larger, I'd agree with you.
New Idea: Car transformers with car transformers that fit inside them.
Carception.
No thanks.
That Bugatti is just WoW. The fastest car in the world, a transformer
267.8 MPH. No kidding, that shit is fast, it's ridiculous. (source)

Wikipedia isn't a very reliable source. Remember, people of questionable standing edit the thing like crazy (even though the staff is well known to fix any errors, deliberate or accidental). Have they cited their source?
I'm curious more than anything about the rusty old cab. Could have sworn Bay was above the use such vehicles as main cast, if the cab is destined to become an Autobot/Decepticon.
*whew* That took time to write all that. I do believe this is the longest post I've ever written.

The Transformers Live Action Movie Blog have also posted an image of the black Camaro cruising with green Concept C7 Corvette Stingray. They speculate this may not be a Transformers character at all, but possibly one of Jack Reynor's character's race cars.

I'm pretty sure it's to be set several years after the events of Dark of the Moon, or like the newest Spiderman film, a complete reboot. Who knows?

Seeing how there's a noticeable lack of Bumblebee's trademark stripes, I'm doubtful this is him. Of course, the colors alone don't mean it's BB, as we've seen in DotM.
And how is a flame paintjob "unethical"? I get not liking them, but but implying they're morally wrong, whaaaaa?!
Posted by Mindmaster on May 29th, 2013 @ 9:37pm CDT
Perhaps I should have worded that better. What I mean to say is that it doesn't look good on a character meant to be Optimus Prime, who, traditionally, is just a straight-up truck colored red and blue. Rodimus is different, seeing how his pre-Prime state had flames.

Noideaforaname wrote:What's that hanging from the front of the Camaro, where a bumper would be?
Front air Dam or "splitter". Basicly a front wing designed to give the front of the car additional downforce. Given the cars wide body stance, it definatly fits with the "race car theme". So maybe it is just one of Mark Walberg's race cars.
Megatron Wolf wrote:is it so farfetched for that to be the new bumblebee? People are sick of the current BB so changing the alt mode makes sense. And since theres no way they would be allowed to make him into another brand/model vehicle they would be forced to go back to an older model.
Not far fetched at all. It would make sence given that we know the family has a racing back groud. So if Bee is involved with the family it makes sence that he would choose a new alt mode that was alittle more race inspired while still retaining his colors vehicle type that he's known for in the movies. I'm sure the next couple days will reviele quite a bit.

I think his flames fit him just fine. Help break up the standard red/blue paint scheme.

Haha! Bay is the ultimate troll... That theory makes the most sense to me.
That Bot wrote:Red looks bad on film, so it's a way for Prime to retain his iconic red chest/blue legs in robot mode without having a hard-to-film truck.
I don't really accept that. The damn things are CG'ed most of the time. And with today's amazing film equipment, I find it hard to believe a RED TRUCK is impossible to film (since, you know, this wouldn't be the FIRST movie appearance for a red f*cking truck ). Maybe against the sunset background? Jeeez... jazz it up in the final cut! They're selling car advertisement space like crazy - is it so hard to CG some red on a truck (assuming it really is impossible to film a red truck)?
Megatron Wolf wrote:thats horrible, this is transfomers not pimp my ride. The basic truck while a cool truck is terrible for prime & the giant flames just kill it. So much for new direction, had a little hope that this one would be set in reality not in bayland but so much for that.
This. Pimp my ride is approbo.

Would a green Rodimus piss anyone off? At this point, I get the eerie feeling that a lot of you just don't care for consistency all that much. Let's just be happy that someone is filming Transformers at all, right?
When you say green Rodimus, I actually imagine a neon green repaint of classic Rodimus... and that wouldn't be so bad. I guess my mind would accept the new color scheme if the robo's/alt modes retained some of their classic goodness.

Again.
I get the same impression... that the car sponsors are deciding the movie more than even Bay... I mean, does he make a list of possible characters, email a bunch of car companies and then wait patiently for some checks??? It makes writing a movie a lot easier, I suppose...

I was waiting for a truck-drivin'-hater. Cause me thinks to me'self, "Doesn't this hideous truck offend actual professionals? I'm pretty sure Bay is sh*tting all over the profession..." Well, I think the job is incomplete. Everyone knows that big trucks like this have rodeo clowns painted on the mudflaps. And drop-down blow-up dolls in the passenger seat (for carpool lanes! As for the rusty old truck, my guess is Bay is using it as the butt of a joke involving Optimus's new alt mode similarly to the whole yellow Volkswagen at the car lot with Camaro Bumblebee in the first movie.
Also just a guess, but I would say the classic Camaro seen in these pics is either the race driver character's car or if its an Autobot it will most likely be before they scan another alt mode since I doubt they would use a vehicle for a main character that they couldn't get a promotional deal with a manufacturer for a currently available model. Technically speaking even the new Optimus is advertising for a truck company, even if he is a heavy modded custom. Once again, just all my conjecture based on what we have seen from the previous films, will be interesting to see what really happens

I like Bumblbee's new look. Maybe a tad more yellow. A thin line going through the left and right sides of the car will do it for me.
I just want to see the robot modes already! It's definitely going to take a little time though. It would be nice if Bee has a voice in this movie but I don't think that is going to happen. Considering not being able to speak is his new gimmick.
It isn't a big deal to me. We just need more focus on the Transformers this time around.

Bad. Ass. Almost makes up for Prime's shitty new alt mode. Almost.
Also, Magnus wasn't exactly "scrapped" from DotM, Sentinel Prime was originally going to be called Ultra Magnus, but then they changed it. They thought Magnus was too much of a goody-2-shoes to be a turncoat.

Source for why they changed the name?
Shockwave and Megatron were labelled "Blitzwing" and "Cyclonus" in concept art, despite their identity being blatantly obvious. I could see them doing the same for Sentinel.
