Greetings and happy Sunday fellow Seibertronians! Thanks to a head’s up from news member William-James we have a little gift from Autobase Aichi on Facebook to get your week off to a great start, a few dozen fresh pics from the Transformers Masterpiece section of the Tokyo Toy Showroom floor!

You'll see images of the just revealed MP-48 Lio Convoy standing beside some Beast Wars companions MP-32 Beast Wars Convoy aka Optimus Primal, MP-43 Beast Wars Megatron, MP-34 Cheetor, MP-41 Dinobot, and the newer MP-46 Black Arachnia.

On the G1 side of things we're treated to a few great angles of MP-36 Megatron, MP-44 Convoy aka Optimus Prime, MP-45 Bumble(bee), and the new MP-47 Hound.

With the high volume of news and images pouring out this weekend a few of these may be duplicated from before, but the majority should be new to the site.
Take a peruse and as always share your views with the Seibertron crew!

Couple ideas for MP-50 that haven't been mentioned:

Mirage/Ligier - I said it before, if Hound comes with the key to Ravage's cage then Mirage should come with the cage itself. But personally I'd rather see him as a later MP (not MP-51, I want that to be Cosmos/Adams for obvious UFO reasons).

Victory Leo - Keeping hope alive with this one. I'm sure they can find some way to make it connect to Star Saber somehow with some creativity.

Rodimus Prime/Rodimus Convoy - MP-9's Hot Rodimus form is now redundant, it's time for a redo that doesn't try to do double duty (though ironically it'll no doubt cost more).

Grimlock - Time to get the big guy up to 2.0 scale.

Fire Convoy - He was 5th place on the Convoy poll (even if that was only 4.9% of the votes) and he hasn't had a recent figure in a very long time (the Encore version received a rare recall, we're owed something to make up for that).

G2 Laser Optimus Prime - Seems like a popular character design and it would be really nice to see a larger version of the still great original figure with modern tooling.

Seeker Jet 3.0 - The second Starscream was better than the first, but still far from ideal. Plus it doesn't match the current cartoon aesthetic of the line very well. A 3.0 will happen some day, hopefully sooner than later.

A combiner - Not possible in 1.0, but more possible in 2.0 since cartoon accuracy means we can ignore vehicle scale.

What it wont be is Star Convoy or Armada Convoy (currently being made for Selects, they likely wouldn't do both collectibles at the same time), and probably not Dai Atlas (just released in Legends, but enough time may have gone by by the time 50 is released).

1, that overpriced Optimus prime (OPOP) is really good looking. I bet I break down and buy it one day. Hopefully, on sale.

2, I would love an MP Devastator (who wouldn't?) The Toy World Constructor is close enough to perfect for me that I'd probably buy it if it weren't for all the QC issues I read about him. Seems like not a single one leaves the factory without a problem. But he does prove that collectors are willing to pay $600 for an MP scale Devastator. The big question, of course, is would it cost $600 from HasTak or would it be $900?

3, I'm itching for a Starscream 3.0 and a Grimlock 2.0 but knowing that G1 MPs come out once or twice a year tops, I know I'll be somewhat disappointed when they announce them because I still really want new molds of characters we haven't had yet. I don't know why they couldn't have banged out an MP Arcee and Kup; there's no licensing issues to wrangle with there...

EDIT: one more!

4, Honestly, it could be a tougher job than an MP combiner but: Astrotrain.

1) I agree, that Overpriced Prime looks excellent, I love it.

2) If Takara is going to do an MP Combiner of any kind, it better have this level of engineering. Zero partsforming, full articulation for the combiner (including ab crunch), and perfect, kibble free individual bot modes, alt modes, and combiner modes. An example of this:

3) A triple changing Astrotrain would be a marvel of HasTak engineering, and I would just love one.

Man, MP-46 Blackarachnia looks to be in scale even with Cheetor in those pics, she’s barely taller than him while he’s down on one knee.

If 50 ends up being an event, the ones I think it could be are:

1) new MP Starscream/seeker mold
2) Waspinator
3) Grimlock
4) Big Convoy

I'm not really feeling any others could work for 50 that are in the realm of possibility right now

Lio convoy looks nice, though hopefully he does not have crotch issues. Hound is cool as well, but man those prices. In some stores the hasbro version of the Hound is like 10e cheaper. Dunno why. I preordered the takara one.

I know price has been a big debate lately but for 50? And it’s Takara? Man, I’m thinking big. Jetfire.
With a bow on him.
Miracles happen and dreams can come true
Think big though.
Maybe a Prime from the Unicron trilogy or AoE Prime?
God I want to see Galvatron though.

The numbering of individual figures is as meaningless as it ever was. The Fiftieth figure in the line is a milestone Takara will most likely make a fuss over though. Time will tell...

Oh, it was complete sarcasm.

I am among those who cry at the BAF pieces with Marvel legends. That new Professor hulk is making me sad, and those are 6 $20 figures. i cannot imagine multiple $120-$200 figures!

Non parts-forming combiners look spindly, off aesthetically and tend to have problems with stability. I purchased Road King and im all in for FT Menasor which looks like it could be amazing. On the subject of FTs, does anyone know when Spoiler (not breakdown) is coming out?

I think you might be mixing up Road King and Road Caesar.

Trying to do the G1 combiners without partsforming is a fool's errand. Especially Devastator.

I used to think so as well, especially after that terrible FOC Bruticus...

Until last week, when I discovered that such a thing is possible. If 3P can do it, Takara can certainly do. And they can do it better.

Vanishing wheels isn't "perfect" cartoon accuracy, it's cartoon accuracy gone mad.

I would be willing to bet that the neck actually can sit properly flush and was just transformed incompetently. And I would also bet that the neck working like that at all is the price paid for some of the magic disappearing kibble.

There is nothing wrong with his neck, you just have to transform it properly. Like with any other figure.

This. What's wrong with his neck is that the schmuck who posed him for the display either didn't push it down properly or moved it out of place without noticing.

Personally, I much preferred the approach of the Masterpiece range back then, realistic alts to toon bots. Guess that wasn't where the money was though

Not going to lie... as much as I didn't want to like the "ne" Bee.... the more I look at him, especially his chest/backpack and his alt mode... the more I really do like him. That said... the original is still amaze-balls, glad I was able to get his battle mask (like the G2 Gold-bug) to differentiate them.
