Lavenx.blogspot.com has posted an extensive pictorial review of the MMC KM-03 Knight Morpher Cyclops (HoS Shockwave) prototype that has been making the rounds. The images show off the figure's many fine details in both iron-clad steamboat and robot modes. The figure comes in at approximately Leader class size, he towers over MMC's first release KM-01 Knight Morpher. Many more images can be found by clicking here, we've mirrored a few below.

The figure is priced at approximately $160.00 and scheduled to release in May. Check our sponsors for pre-orders.

I wonder why they gave him those ridged Rail Racer fingers, those don't really look that good when you open them.

Image

I know I'm nitpicking but for the price you'd think they'd give him something that's not as "old fashioned".

I hope they release one in the Shackwave colors.

It would be a cool homage, and look more like the real craft after which he is modeled.

Much like the black and gold version of Prime.

My WALLET hopes they don't. :D

I'm really stuck on the fence here. I look at and I dig it and really want it, then I look at it some more and I don't care for it. 8-} Eventually a video review will make me choose..."the waiting is the hardest part..." :BANG_HEAD: :VEHI:

I do not like this design. You would figure if they are making a homage to SHOCKWAVE, it would at least be PURPLE. Easy pass for me. Very happy with the DoTM SHOCKWAVE. He fits in well with my Classics line. Having anything else is simply illogical. :CON:

The final product is purple, this is a prototype.

Wow! Thats a serious amount of right arm kibble going on there, probably better its not what some of those are focusing on!
Look at those crazy correctional shoes! Reminds me of 'Sloth' from The Goonies!!
"Hey you guuuuyyyssss"

This is one of those "I love it but where the hell would I put it?" figures. Looks well executed though-good job MMC.

The arm kibble is ridiculous, but dead on compared to the actual comic design. Fortunate/unfortunate.

Ah, so that's where the photos from the collage on Robot Kingdom came from.

I was wondering when we'd get to see those pics full size. =) Looks slick and I can't wait to save up and nab him when it comes out.

Right arm kibble? No, that's a built-in shield.

I love it! I can't wait to have this monstrosity squaring off against Prime.

I hope they'll make more Autobots soon. Optimus is kind of outnumbered

Oh is it? I never read Hearts of Steel. That makes more sense, however I consider anything that limits articulation or posing like that to be kibble. Fair enough.

This thing is insane. As in, insanely awesome. And uh, kind of insanely priced. Although considering what Takara charges for MPs nowadays, fairly appropriate. Just out of my league, though.

I'm heavily leaning that way too. I liked the first figure. He's only okay though with multiple construction issues. I can not justify buying multiple figures that come from a comic that was so terrible though. Sure they look okay to me but lines are having to be drawn in my collecting. I'm taking a hard look at third party stuff first. These guys are out for me.

It's still 3rd party even though I love my black colored TF collection, I would pass.

Like Flux said, I must draw the line, and this "Shall not pass!"

I too drew a line, however I finally decided to nix the TF: Prime line for this and other 3rd party items.

I can always go back and collect the Prime line during the next Movie craze.

You know what my "line in the sand" is? Generations FOC Bruticus. Sorry Hasbro, but when third-party companies are outclassing you to the degree TFC has with Hercules and FansProject has with their Bruticus limbs that's a problem for me.

Really, you're not going to even try FoC Bruticus?

I know there is 3rd party stuff that is much better than HASBRO's stuff, the price on this particularly is scaring me off.

If this thing happens to get clearanced down to $100 or less, and not for similar reasons as Sonic Ron, I might jump back on board...but for now it's off the table. And without this one, I'll surely be skipping the subsequent releases. Kinda hoping it stays off the table, though. As cool as it looks, these just aren't necessary for my collection.

Hell, I don't know. When I see them on the pegs I may change my mind. One thing I can say for sure though, if I buy them, they will be the only combiner team I have that are displayed as individuals and not combined. I can understand price being an issue for many fans when it comes to the third-party stuff, but just think, if Hasbro/Takara had made the TFC Hercules figures they would have only cost you about $20.00 a pop and there's no reason they couldn't make those. They're rather simplistic figures.

Exactly this. The only reason why the 3rd part stuff is so expensive is because they don't have the means to produce it as easily. I just don't understand the engineering behind hasbro's stuff, some of them seem to have been rushed during the process, just like fall of cybertron bruticus.

As good as it looks, I gotta ask why the ship has lights on the roof when the lightbulb had not even been invented yet ? They should have left the orange lights out and just had chest armor.

I suspect it has to do with the coal burner emiting light, but I can't say for sure.

It may also be an artifact of the fact that Hearts of Steel as a story doesn't know itself when it takes place:

Mark Twain lived in San Francisco from 1964 to 1966, but he mentions having ONE daughter, which would place it somewhere between 1972(birth year of his first daughter) and 1974(birth of his second daughter).

In addition, John Henry's famous interactions with steam hammers(or more importantly, his race against them) occurs anywhere between 1969 and 1971.

The invention of the Lightbulb occurs in 1979, with a patent in 1980, so it's possible, too, that someone didn't fact check, especially since the "lights" are grills/vents on the actual original design:

Image

They also appear to be vents/grills and the right color of the production model, as opposed to the orange ones the prototype has.

Looks like I have to have a chat with the owner next time I'm in town.

which one is KMX-01? Is that the shattered glass Prime?
