At that rate, I didn't see the lesser (voyager class??) Prime figure as well. I wasn't really out looking for it tho; I wanted my Leader class instead and purchased that.

I do not like the movie Megatron whatsoever. Might as well simply call it another Decepticon and end it now.

Megatron looks Megatron enough to me!
Starscream I already have but this guy is up next...

I had the same problem man. Not ONE Megatron of any kind to be found. Not One!
I got Voyager Starscream, and he kicks even more @ss than i thought he would!

I like this toy though I still think it's a horrible Megatron. It would've made a great "Thunderwing" toy with the persona of the G1 Pretender. Maybe we'll get the Voyager class Megatron repainted as Thunderwing at some point.
No hot air here. Just wish that they had put as much effort into giving us elements of G1 Megatron in this design as they did with Optimus Prime. Ah well ... what's done is done.

Haha, I love this! Poor Megatron..I think Starscream was the sculptor, come to think of it.

Hmm...to my knowledge, these are the elements that g1 megs and Movie megs share:
-Silver (duh)
-A helmet
-Wide shoulders
-Long legs
-Arm gun
I can't take credit for this...that was WIkipedia . And as for thie figure itself...they could've at least TRIED to hide that head, instead of just lat useless flap. I wouldv'e bought this - hell I would've bought ANY of the Movie Megs figs if it weren't for the badly hidden heads.

That Decepticon group shot makes me very excited. It also serves as a reminder of how honkin' big Starscream is in robot mode. I can hearly wait.
This fella and leader Prime are due to show up in UK Toys'r'us stores next week. With the special offer on it might actually be cheaper to buy them locally than to import for a change!

If the design for Masterpiece Megs was used in the movie, all it takes was a kick in the knee from Prime and it'll all be over.

The problem is that those same criterion can apply to like 900 other Transformers. The Megatron design is just... eck. The head is great, I think it passes for Megatron very nicely, the problem is with the body. He has no real shape and just looks like a jumbled-up mess. His hands looks like old noodles and his colours aren't agressive enough, even black would have made a better main colour.
I still prefer the Leader version, much better than the yellow-handed, blue (for some reason) Voyager version. I'm glad to see he has some head movement, though it almost looks like cheating a bit since it's just not locking in the head during transformation. If he could move his waist and had better colours, I would pick him up - but for the close to 90$ he would cost me in Canadian dollars, this one is an easy pass.

And how did you get the head to move? I thought it was locked in place.

This toy is a must have for me. It could be improved, but it's still pretty neat looking in my eyes!

You missed one. I once made a pic showing similarities between Movie and Energon Megatron.
The main one was the two whatevers next to the extended cockpit.
I don't have the pic anymore, though. I lost it when my last hard drive decided it didn't like me anymore.

I got his head to move simply by NOT locking it in place. I cheated and was careful with most of the photographs to make sure the camera was angled so that his head covered over the spot where it should connect. I couldn't stand just having his head in a static position ... I had to do something so that it would be able to be posed in some creative positions.

i gotta say i love how the toys sizes seem to reflect the movie.....like bumblebee next to prime or megatron (least the leader classes) is more or less how small he is in the movie next to them
and i love the shots of megs holding bumblebee and that one with jazz like in the trailer..lol

Nightwatcher wrote:Bah. I know it's a bad figure when not even Ryan's images can make me want it. Just compared to Leader Prime you can tell he's outclassed in everything from aesthetics to articulation to paint apps. So sad. Prime is what a Leader Class figure should be. Tons of paint, awesome articulation, cool functions and just an overall awesome design. Megatron has none of this. He can't even have his feet sit flat. I mean how freaking hard can it be to throw a damn ball joint on his ankles?!
Yeah really. Megatron has been castrated.
He has no ball joints.

It especially looks bad next to MP megatron. MP looks sleek, cool, and bad ass. This new movie megatron probaby couldn't lift up jazz because his stupid spider fingers would simply snap off.
That is what is missing from these new movie robots. They don't look sleek. They look bulky and like a trash pile.

This will sound dumb, but it does appear to be an issue so try not to giggle my fellow droogs.
The transformation to put Megatron into Jet mode is so low on tolerance, that it seems to naturally cause some stress marks on the edges of the codpiece.
Look here at Megatron's groin: (shut up.)

Near the edges by the gold detailing, you can see the stressed corners.
This just seems to be a byproduct of the transformation, but it annoys me to all hell.

I agree, if they release this guy as a Target Robovision exclusive in all metallic paint scheme, then I'd buy him, but as he stands now, I'm not impressed... i really don't like the whole glossy black face, he doesn't have it in the movie, nor does he have it in the movie art I've seen of him.. so why should his toy have it?? I am okay with the blueish tones, but if they did the metallic paint, did the blueish tones a tad softer and the innards in a dark Metal finish instead of Black, i would buy him...
Come on target, get Leader Class Megatron already!!! I want a revised paint scheme, thats a little more movie accurate!!!!
Also can I get a Skywarp Starscream Repaint please??

Just got my Megatron this afternoon from Amazon.com and sure enough, right out of the first transformation, I got the same stress marks, and they're driving my OCD insane. I'm about to take nail clippers to 'em and snip off the whitened pieces.
Even with that as a detractor, I have to say he's one of the best figures in the line. Seriously. He's got a fun transformation (except for the legs) and his Automorphs are quite fun without being intrusive.
I highly recommend him, I really do.
NOTE: Skip the final steps of the instructions because they're absolutely worthless. Use the picture of the final panel, and the artwork on the box to see exactly how the legs should be. Otherwise they will not attach to those wings and lock him together. For nothing...

Call me stupid, but I don't see it...
EDIT: Wait, nevermind, I see it now.
Weird, I hope it doesn't happen to my Megatron when I don't buy this crappy figure.
