I was planning on getting Ripclaw anyway, but the coloring is much better in these photos and probably even better in person. Her robot head is exactly like Ser-Ket's from the Rage of the Dinobots comic. I'm assuming that a remolded Predacon head into a bat is inevitable.
Possible spoiler (speculation) alert!
The dragon head of Ripclaw looks just like the Predacon that attacked the Dinobots in Issue #2. Again, Ripclaw looks just like Ser-Ket minus the coloring and aforementioned head. Is it possible that Ser-Ket was the Predacon that attacked them? Or does she become a dragon? This is just my guess but this figure and packaging information seem to fit together with Ser-Ket too well. It says she's a girl after all and the comic is supposed to tie in directly with TFP Season 3. Just wanted to see if anyone else was thinking this too.

Ripclaw is a clone of Ser-ket, I think I recall reading something like that. I think it's in the toy's bio?

Ok thanks. That makes sense. This also pretty much guarantees a repaint/remold into Ser-Ket then. Although I could see Takara doing this and not Hasbro, but who knows what Beast Hunters they have planned down the line.

Very glad I preordered her.
As for Screamer, yes, he's fugly, but for whatever reason I'm digging the new mold. Probably scale... I need to see him next to BH Soundwave, because literally the only thing I dislike about FE Starscream is that he's just a little too tall. This one is a far inferior mold but I'll probably get it anyway, because I get crazy when it comes to scale.

GuyIncognito wrote:Ripclaw is awesome, but Hasbro should be ashamed of that sorry excuse for a Starscream figure. Terrible mold in terrible colors. Why they didn't just retool the excellent FE mold they already have is beyond me.
That's like asking why they didn't re-release any of the FE figures for any of the succeeding Prime lines. FE figures were geared further toward the older collectors; Beast Hunters is for the young kids.
Rhinox23 wrote:The dragon head of Ripclaw looks just like the Predacon that attacked the Dinobots in Issue #2.
There were no Predacons that attacked the Dinobots in Issue #2; the Dinobots attacked the Forged. The blue Predacon from Issue #1 was Backbite.

No. Ser-Ket never attacked the Dinobots.
This is just my guess but this figure and packaging information seem to fit together with Ser-Ket too well.
I wonder why.

I'll tell you where you heard it; from Lazerback's bio. He's the clone of the Predacons.

Hey Pryme! You're right it was in Issue #1 with the dragon Predacon Backbite. I was hoping you'd join in on the discussion since you seem to follow these things very closely and read the comics. I was just thinking out loud (err...typing out loud) and wanted to see if anybody was going down the same path as me.
Don't you think it's strange they would give us Ripclaw when there is already Ser-Ket in the story line right now? It's a great tie in and may get more people to read the comics who watch the show and collect the figures and vice versa. To me, Ripclaw looks like Ser-Ket in every way (minus colors) with the Backbite head. Again, just speculating as to other theories on why or how this will fit/make sense within this continuity.
Oh btw, I never said that Ser-Ket attacked the Dinobots herself. Only again speculating as to the possible relationship between Ser-Ket and Backbite (if there even is one)!

Noideaforaname wrote:Right when I thought they were going back to the older, larger size, this Starscream happens.
Every line had it's tiny Deluxe. Even the lines with "big" Deluxes. There's still a little window of hope; let's see Smokescreen side by side with the other Autobots.

Well, Ser-Ket has the mold available to her now thanks to Ripclaw. What I think it means is that Ser-Ket will be joining Predaking as a Predacon that appears in the third season. I'll wait to see if Hasbro does anything with her in the next couple of waves. If not, it'll be another case of Kup and Ironhide and we can only pray Takara gets on it.
As for any relationship between Ser-Ket and Backbite, I think they're just similar dragons. We haven't seen Backbite's robot mode.

Ripclaw is...Meh. very very meh. Don't really like her. Might pick a few up for cheap as an army builder or source of parts.
Starscream, on the other hand, I love. Looks nothing like Starscream, but I wouldn't be using it as Starscream anyway. She'd either become a new Deceptifemme or a drone for army building with. I for one actually love the thinness and lankyness.

both look good though, these beast hunters figs have got me smiling. sometimes it's nice to depart from sharp clean angles and realistic alt modes in favor of something like beast hunters where its, well, sharp but not because of clean angles rather due to sharp pointy things haha.its sharp and they're all out armed to the teeth and are meant for brutal war rather than secret war. I mean i have never been so impressed with a bumblebee as i am with beast hunters bumblebee just for example. First edition is nice for accuracy and posability and so forth but bhbb is just plain rediculously over powered and therefore cool and fun. im smiling thinking about it right now which may be sad to some degree but whatever.

I read something about BH Starscream's shorter and smaller size; IMO, that's thanks to the BFG/claw thing taking up some of the plastic quota from the actual toy.

Ripclaw is a pass, unless she's in reality very sweet and worth however much she's going for.
Posted by Grahf_ on January 29th, 2013 @ 8:07pm CST
Oh well, if I pick him up I might just re-purpose him as a Classics Terrorsaur or something like that.
By the way, Ripclaw is a smexy beast. I imagine when she starts talking the song "Bringing Sexy Back" would be playing just like it does for Duke Devlin.

Notice that the weapon Starscream comes with resembles something else in real life:
I kept thinking to myself "They must have been on something when they came up with that" and now it seems I've found a clue .

Starscream looks stupid. Veritech-style transformation where you drop the arms and legs then fold the fuselage in half is kinda cool but doesn't make up for the poo colours.
Posted by Sodan-1 on January 30th, 2013 @ 6:00am CST
Call me crazy, but I think I actually like Starscream. Yeah he's shorter than the FE (which would actually put him in line with the mainline PRIME deluxes) and his colours are a tad bland, but it's striking a chord with me for some reason. I like the general design and the weapon is cool. If and when it goes on clearance I'll certainly get him. I may pick him up anyway.

Starscream is small. Ripclaw looks like it's about the same size as Lazerback, who's almost as big as Voyager Thundertron.

URGH. I had to remind myself of BH Ratchet's appearance. IMO that's way worse than Screamer here!

Well, BH Ratchet is unsalvagably bad. The mold itself is a TERRIBLE IDEA. BH Starscream has really good mold, but an awful deco. I'm hoping they actually do it in red at some point, homaging Terrorsaur.
