There's a new email available on the SectorSeven.org website which can be accessed with the password NBETWO. The message alludes to actor Hugo Weaving (Lord of the Rings, The Matrix) being cast as the voice of the evil Decepticon leader Megatron in this summer's upcoming Transformers movie from Michael Bay, Paramount and Dreamworks.

Operation: Hungry Dragon 2 continues. As of today, Agent H. Weaving has officially convinced S.S., M.B., R.O., AND A.K. to assign him to oversee the Megaman issue. The recording will commence immediately.
All the years of investment into Agent Weaving's public persona have finally paid off. He will monitor the campaign from the inside and report on its progress free from suspicion.
By this summer, the population will think N.B.E.S. are nothing more than a figment of someone's overactive imagination.
Our power lies in our secrecy.
--------------------------------------------------
Hugo Weaving first made it big with his role as Agent Smith in Warner Brother's blockbuster Matrix trilogy starring Keanu Reeves and Hugo Weaving. He also gained further popularity after playing the role of the half-elf Elrond in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. One of Weaving's most recent roles was that of V in the movie translation of the political V for Vendetta starring Weaving alongside actress Natalie Portman.
The references to Agent Weaving above is a reference to Weaving's role as Agent Smith. "Megaman" is the name the humans give the frozen Megatron in issue #2 of IDW's Transformers Movie prequel comic book series. The abbreviations from the email are as follows:
S.S. (Steven Spielberg)
M.B. (Michael Bay)
R.O. (Roberto Orci)
A.K. (Alex Kurtzman)
It is unknown at the time of this post what the "N.B.E.S." acronym stands for. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

I think if Welker was going to be Megatron we would've known already by now, especially since Cullen was announced in July 2006.
I'm actually excited about Weaving being onboard with the movie's cast of voice actors. That's awesome.

I think he was referring to involuntarily associating in his mind Megatron and the character Weaving played in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert... which happened to be a transvestite struggling with his sexuality.
I'm not sure what's so inflammatory about that? I doubt he's the first person to have made the association. It was Weaving's breakout role.

If it weren't for the fans non stop death threats and what not, Bay wouldn't have even considered Peter Cullen.
But I suppose the Megatron fanbase wasn't nearly as strong.
In any event, I have mixed emotions about this. On one hand, it would have been great to hear Frank Welker reprise his role again. On the other hand, the robot mode doesen't resemble Megatron enough for me to get too worked up over Hugo being the new voice of Megatron.

Exactly, I do not associate him with Agent Smith, I associate him with Tick of Priscilla, thinking of that role and Megatron leads to Female Impersonator Megatron. It is not derogatory as it is a movie refferance and he does not make a good looking female in the movie. Although a slight error in wording on my part can lead to the thought it is a dig at non fictional people, "Female impersonators are unattractive..." in question.AbsumZer0 wrote:Seibertron wrote:SuperSaiyajinSasuke wrote:Hmm... Hugo Weaving's Filmography
Complete with all his VA work he's done over the years, making him a "big name star" that has done voice over work before and not just some "big name star they got in to boost the movie's profile"
Try remembering him for those roles instead of just one...

Opinions posted on a forum tend to be of a negative nature to begin with. If you're happy with something you're more liable to sit back and enjoy it whereas if something pisses you off you're more liable to jump up and down and scream blue murder.
But that is all irrelevant to the topic of this thread.

Hugo Weaving is a good choice. He's done some good work as characters that people have identified with. True, I did not like him in LOTR much, but that could be how he was written, or it could be because he was simply in a smaller part, and was downplayed to allow the other actors to remain the focus. He was very matter of fact and non-flamboyant/emotional, and that may just be how he saw the character being for whatever reasons.
I did think that in the Matrix movies, Agent Smith stole the show, and 'was' the trilogy, and that can be attributed to Weaving's characterization of the 'bad guy'. I love how he said his, "Mr.Anderson" welcomes...very cool.
I think this is the first of several (obviously) that we will hear rumored. This was a rumor long ago, and comes up again. It's either for misleading or for sure.
One wonders if the Will Smith as Jazz rumors may end up true. Probably not, but again, Smith knows Bay, has experience with action movies and adds 'star' power, has children who might enjoy knowing daddy was a part of the movie...sorry to perpetuate hate here, I wasn't trying to.
Ryan, how do you like your WWI Megatron and Ultra Magnus TITs? Is Megatron not better than you hoped? Or am I still just all starry-eyed about him?

Hey I like just about everything in the movie so far. I wanted Kay, not Welker. I just can't stand Weaving. I've loathed everything he's been in so far, especially the Matrix movies, man were they horrible.

And here is another thought, everyone is entitled to their opinions as long as they respect others opinions and do not try to force them on others.
So as long as no one steps on any toes opinions are welcome.

So you don't like the guy because of the movies he's been in sucked or you don't like the guy because of his acting ability?
I'm a little confused as to WHY you don't like the guy here as your comment wasn't quite clear ...
