That's right fellow Seibertronians after starting the day with a strange glitch that saw the counter dip down to about 1,500 backers (supporters, orders, Unicrons) Haslab Transformers Unicron is ending the day swinging coming in at a combined number of 4,782 backers! The turquois titan is still in the fight but he can't come into full being without your support! We're in his corner and we need to pull for him. There's only five days left to go!
For Fanformers old and new Unicron is the end of all storylines. In many cases he plays a big role in the beginning of them too. All roads in our fandom inevitably lead to conflict with this character because he is thee omega, the end all be all for our favorite heroes and villains to finally come together and defeat what they alone could not manage or muster separately. He has always provided the darkest hour for us to shine our brightest.
And now, like all conflicts against Unicron, we must band together and fight FOR UNICRON! Know an old friend who might like this? Ask them about Unicron! Have a co-worker claim they're the ultimate Transformer fan? This is the item for them! Let anyone who you know that loves Transformers know about the opportunity to support this project.
Below we're re-posting the questions that were recently answered by Haslab about the Unicron project. This open invite was posted to Instagram last week with fans chiming in with their questions about the Chaos Bringer. Our own editor William-James sorted through and wrote them out for you to read:
"Hasbro has just posted a video where the brand team answers questions that were asked regarding their big Unicron. As of right now there are 2,945 backers through pulse but this does not include orders from other channels yet. 8,000 orders are needed for this toy to be produced. Here is a breakdown of what we learn, of course please watch the video to see exactly what was said.
There is currently no intention on extending the deadline.
There are no lights and sounds, conversion was the most important part.
While what we have seen so far is a prototype, it is the best representation of the colour the final toy will have.
The project started over a year and a half ago.
He has six joints in each of the hands with a total of 50 articulation points.
The bot alone is 19 pounds.
He has both 5mm and 3mm ports for integration with the Siege line (and anything else that fits those measures).
You can watch the video here."
Here's Unicron's product listing from Haslab:
“The Lord of Chaos. The Planet Eater. The Chaos Bringer. Unicron stands alone as the most menacing figure in Transformers lore, capable of devouring entire worlds and civilizations. He debuted in the 1986 film Transformers: The Movie and his insatiable appetite nearly brought the entire universe to its knees.
But his legacy transcends both space and time.
“I have summoned you here for a purpose.” - Unicron
Transformers fans may be mere humans, inhabiting a miniscule planet hardly worth consuming, but they are some of the most passionate fans out there. That’s why HASLAB, the Hasbro Pulse crowdsourcing platform, is the place to awaken such a massive project.
Introducing the first ever Transformers HASLAB project: Transformers War For Cybertron Unicron.
“Then it pleases me to be the first.” - Unicron
Join us in a historic opportunity to celebrate the legendary Unicron with a figure whose features, detail, and scale are worthy of his gigantic legacy.
This campaign will move into production when it reaches its minimum goal of 8,000 backers. All support must be received by 11:59 PM EST on August 31, 2019. If the campaign is successful your payment method will be charged on August 31, 2019. Orders are estimated to ship in early 2021.
*Limit of 5 per transaction.”
And here's all the videos Hasbro/Haslab has posted on the project so far. Here you can find videos of the Transformation, the features, and that adorable freaky little noggin that pops right off those spiky shoulders. Enjoy!

Gonna cost me a fortune for having it shipped to Europe (the Neterlands). But gonna be worth it.
Let's hope it gets backup.

*Five days later...*
Hasbro: Time's up! The total number of Unicrons ordered is... 7,999... I'm sorry but we are not going to take this to production.
Me: I feel like this is partly my fault...
Seriously, I am giving all my moral support. I want this to succeed!

Hasbro is introducing more movie accuracy to the Bringer of Chaos. Just revealed, the legendary Unicron will come with interchangeable chins, allowing fans to switch back and forth between a smooth chin and a goatee-style chin, just like in the 1986 Transformers The Movie. Now, the infamous Planet Eater is ready for any scene!
The colossal Unicron will also come with a Galvatron slug figure so fans can pose out epic movie scenes with the two villains. The Galvatron figure is a slug that stands 3.75 cm (1.5 inches) tall, ready for battle with his iconic blaster and just the right size to fit in Unicron’s hand as seen in the 1986 film.
You can see the images below and you can click them or here to order Unicron on Hasbro Pulse.

The Galvatrons neat but it just shows how badly unicron scales with anything even in the movie (compared to the size of a spaceship crashing through his eye)

My thoughts exactly.
I wish this was a more movie accurate piece. I wonder if they just printed the easiest-to-find model they had, i.e. TR Galvatron, but plan to provide a more G1 inspired one with the final product...

Yet two reasonable third party ones to choose from, unlike Unicron (yet...)

Go for one of the other options that lets you instead save up until 2021, with only a $150 down payment instead of $600.Mindmaster wrote:Christ, now they do the goatee. Seeing that Galvy makes me wish they had made him during the days when World's Smallest Transformers were a thing. But it's not the first time I wished for that,

Eh, the scene with him getting swallowed by Unicron had him out of scale anyway. They made him too big so that he could be more visible onscreen, so this toy being too big reflects that. Otherwise, this mini-Galvatron would have to be smaller than an ant to be correct-scaled.megatronus wrote:Looking at Galvatron again, I'm pretty sure he's too big. 1 inch is probably still too big, but I'd prefer that.

Well yea, but even at an inch he's way out of scale. Unless the figure was at maximum half a centimeter the scaling wouldn't work. But I'd like to get slightly closer to the ideal.

Like I said before, Galvatron was already out of scale in the movie scene where he gets swallowed by Unicron. If there are any other reveals, I hope they may have to do with inside functionality.
I'd love it if there were an area you could reveal an area with moving pistons and pipes (when he is energized from eating a planet) — OR especially the inside command center with all the TV screens.
It seems like — since the toy has to be hollow — that they could spend some effort to detail and exploit some hollow areas to give a not to those scenes (and jump start our imaginations.)

Acid Pit!
Acid Pit!

I also thought of the acid pit, but I think it would be third on my list under the other two interior gimmicks I mentioned.
(Mostly, because it would be impossible to scale any figures to drop into the acid. It's not like you could pull out your G1 /WST Bee or Cliffjumper to put in the acid. Too big.
The other two gimmicks — brain, pistons — would look great and function without extra figures.)
Mind you I DO still want it... just as third on my list. Maybe they can work to represent all three, since much of it would simply be molded in the recesses of the figure. (There seriously has to be some monstrous cavities inside that guy's torso, stomach, back, legs — so who knows.)
Thinking about this, I guess I'd shoot for back of head or upper torso for brain cavity, and stomach area for pistons and/or acid pit to represent digestion? I'll have to look at the photos closely and think on this...

Given the head already has the swappable face gimmicks, as well as the articulated eyes, I wouldn't count on them being able to pack anything else in there. I could be wrong, though.

Or maybe Hasbro could swoop in to chip in some of the dough? Who knows, but I still have a little hope. There are a lot more people jumping in in the past week than before. Crossing my fingers.

Remember: they added 1500 in affiliate orders, but it was unclear whether that included TakaraTomy Mall, US retailers, or both. In any case, it appears there's still a large chunk of international orders that have not yet been counted, and the inevitable last day spike.
I'm very hopeful.

I wouldn't hold out much hope for molded detail within unicron as all those bot pieces have to go somewhere and as such everything will be measured to fit, molded details may get in the way of Transformation mechanisms.

I'm nearly all set to make the payment via PayPal, just waiting for my next paycheck notice before I do. And if TFSource's deadline is 8/30, then that must mean they're getting ready to submit all of their numbers to Hasbro on either 8/30 or 8/31.

It’s a down payment; if it hits the funding goal and is confirmed moving to production, you’ll get charged.

Ravage2031 wrote:Quick question about using TF Source. Will they charge the $150 if it hits 8000 or only if you happen to cancel?
So what they do is price the big U at $775 or whatever. When you preorder, the will charge your card $150. This counts towards that $775 that will be due in 2021. If Unicron fails, that is the only situation in which you will get that $150 down payment back. If the campaign succeeds, then you only owe TFSource $625 in 2021 when Unicron is released. If you decide you don’t want Unicron after, or can’t save up for it by 2021, even if you cancel, you WILL NOT get that $150 back (that’s the non-refundable part). Hope that helps
