Greetings Seibertronians!

Thanks to fellow user aronjlove, we have the first pictures of Shattered Glass Jetfire! Normally the Shattered Glass line is supposed to be an Hasbro Pulse exclusive, but the pictures come from the Australian online store Zing Pop Culture. The preorders are already up! Does that mean that SG Jetfire will not be so exclusive and be available to other online stores as well? Will this transcribe to the other toys from the SG line?

Shattered Glass Jetfire is a straight repaint of the previous commander class Siege Jetfire. This time, the deco is black, purple, and bright green. No remolding is apparent. Those colors really pop though and it turns Jetfire from a noble warrior to an evil agent of darkness!

Feast your eyes on the pictures below!

Do you have hope to see more SG toys in other stores than Hasbro Pulse?

I mean.....I suppose this was inevitable, given that there are very few bots at his size they could remold him into. Though, given that this is the final figure in the Hasbro SG line, it makes me wonder if the rest are worth collecting now.

We got that SG Primé and Ratchet 2-pack, we're getting Goldbug, Blurr, and Jetfire all on the Autobot side, and only SG Megatron, and Starscream for the SG Decepticons. You could even throw in Rodimus Unicronus from POTP for another Autobot.

I get that any Transformers toyline will always be in favor of the Autobots, because they're the good guys (though not in this love, obvs.), but this is a little too much of the Autobots to be interesting to me anymore. >:oP

This is the LAST one? Well, I suppose that they couldn't remake everyone in SG colors. But at least they could have added Soundwave (with Ravage and Lazerbeak) and Shockwave at the very least to even things out.

It's the last that we know of. They might make some more down the line as Selects releases, but this is the last confirmed release

At least in this line, I think. On Pulse, it says the SG collection will be five figures. I suppose they could do more, and might, if it sells well enough, but I don't think any of them have presold-out, the way figures like Wreck-Gar, Slag, Kingdom, etc have.

Maybe, just maybe, they could sell more if the SG line wasn't a DAMN PULSE EXCLUSIVE and instead the things were available worldwide even if only at online stores?

I dunno, just a hunch. :BANG_HEAD:  >:oP

They probably don't wanna jump the gun on such a gamble. Selling five figures on Hasbro Pulse is most likely testing the waters to see if they might be able to expand the line with more figures sold at more venues later. After all, this is a line that goes against the very heart of the Transformers series, consisting entirely of Evil Autobots and Heroic Decepticons. That's a risky move from a marketing perspective.

Maybe. But Canadians must pay 30$US of shipping for a single figure (plus taxes) and the rest of the world can't buy anything. That's a test with only the Americans in mind. That's way too small for a sample.

I don't call the line to be available at Walmart, Target, and Toys R Us. worldwide Independent online stores that specialise in nerdy collectors would be more than enough.

Given that this is available online at this Australian retailer, it might be available other places online in the future if it sells well enough.

Maybe the previous figures will also be released to the other stores too? As if it was only a "timed exclusive" and/or Hasbro finally notice that they will sit on unsold stuff for way too long if they don't yeet them to other online stores?
:-?

Jetfire is the one I want the most. They saved the best for last. I can't wait to get him. I have no problem paying commander prices for this one. Sky Lynx & Rodimus are a rip-off. I got $20 off Sky Lynx with Target's sale. That was the only reason I bought him. I'm waiting to see if something similar happens with Rodimus.

He’s nice, but a lot of the black paint looks matte so it gives him a cheap car paint look. I like the use of the blue blast effects too. The painted eyes stand out way better than his normal ones. Not sure if he’s worth the extra SG markup though.

Well darn it. Now I really need this. And because I need this, I’m gonna need ALL the SG figures. Because that’s gonna be a dang cool looking shelf of figures to display, even if half of them are characters I don’t even care for. I really do love this jetfire in those colors. Absolutely stunning.

Looks really nice but not enough to make me want it or need it over other stuff especially at the price tag.

I think I might get it? On the one hand, it’s yuuuge, and in my mind Shattered Glass Jetfire is like the Astrotrain of the Autobots (in that he’s huge and looks like a total grumpster). But on the other hand, the basis of the fictional Shattered Glass Jetfire, the one Takara dark exclusive, looks nicer to me and I’m missing having a version of Classics Jetfire. I guess this’ll be a soft want like the new Fangry but not a need like the rest of this line.

Looks great, but should I get this, as I've got the TT "dark Jetfire" version of the previous mold (which looks similar to this version)?

Right, the "Shattered Glass" collection is five figures, but they released seven including the Amazon two pack. I don't think there is any reason to conclude they won't make more, but this is the end of the line. I do assume they'll be less common.

These were never going to be big sellers, they're just ways to make use of existing molds. To a later point, they would have sold more if they weren't exclusives, but more significantly, there would be more unsold merchandise. That's the bigger issue.

That Jetfire look pretty nice in these colors. I don't care at all that he's "Shattered Glass". For me, he's only NEMESIS JETFIRE and he can stand on his own. :michaelbay:

Unless I randomly happen upon him in store and on sale, I won't be getting him though. Having the regular Siege is enough for me.

Indeed, it will be Dark Skyfire in my collective. :APPLAUSE:

Jetfire is Available on Pulse now $92. If it ever goes on sale I may get one. I doubt it will though, so that is fine. SG is cool, but just not my thing, unless of course they did a SG combiner or something like that ;)

If Titan-class is being retired, at least for a bit, and the rumors about Commander-class Motormaster are true, this figure might be my last large-scale figure for a while.

I've seen several tweets with screencaps from TFW, I think, about Motormaster being a Commander-class figure with combiners being done again. I haven't seen anything about it in a couple of months, but back in May, there were many tweets about it.

I know a LOT of people didn't like the CW Stunticons, well specifically Motormaster. However...I'd still rather get Combiners that haven't had a modern release than redo ones from just a few years ago. If this team is a one-off then fine, but there are still so many characters (both combiners and non-combiners) that need new toys before redoing what was already done, even if it wasn't ideal. I mean we've had 3 Astrotrains since 2013. I thought Siege/ER was pretty good, but I still see people wanting yet another Astrotrain :BANG_HEAD:

I believe the Motormaster rumor is that because of how poorly recieved the CW Stunticons as a whole were, they're redoing Menasor, but they're not diving into redoing them, and Menasor is serving as a test for whether or not there's a demand for redone combiners

If they do end up being redone, I HOPE they retain the CW system. I already have a CW Motormaster (with the fixed hip ratchets).

Although... I'm gonna be a troll and predict CW re-releases... with Motormaster as the original CW Voyager with trailer!

Back to SG Jetfire!

Either way...if it is new or CW, if it still uses the established Generations Combiner System (and the Trailer also integrates with Menasor), I'd be ok with all of that.

I hope this means they'll eventually redo Bruticus and Predaking, since I never get PotP or MMC version. And I've yet to see a set of combaticons that's worth it imo

A new devastator would be cool too but if not I'll just get GT Rebuilder

One thing that makes SG Jetfire a little easier to buy is the flipping insignia. Nothing stopping me from making him an Autobot who turned Decepticon to mirror the path the original took.

I really wish they get redone. While the system and figures were and to some degrees are a TON of fun, the joints are garbage. The ratchets didn't work as well as they should've and the individual limb joints couldn't hold up anything heavier than a piece of paper. I have a Piranacon that's missing an arm because I just don't feel like opening up the final two members of the Seacons since I know exactly what to expect.

Jetfire looks great in those colors. I preordered him to complete the set.

i hope the con badge is still there, I want to make this one a con.

It also makes me regret getting the original release, I don't really need the exact same commander twice

I gave up. Transformers fans are still *CONSTANTLY* asking for Devastator, Predaking & Blaster. No matter how many we already have I still see those 3 names popping up constantly. :BANG_HEAD: :BOOM:

Once in a while Hasbro throws me a little scrap or crumb like Fangry. And I jump on it like a starving dog. And that's the best it's gonna get. :(

I wonder how many years will go by & how many more Devastators & Predakings we'll get before they give us Squeezeplay or Horri-Bull. It's been 5 or 6 years since they released Chop Shop & still no sign of Ransack, Barrage or Venom. :-(

It's really hard to stay interested. I'm hanging on by a thread. They're releasing just enough cool new stuff to keep me in.

Rumours persist that we may be seeing the Autobot Headmaster Juniors next year (Siren, Nightbeat and Hosehead) in a mix of the Generations retail line and Selects line, and I'd wager the Decepticons won't be far behind. Though they still have the advantage over the deluxe Insecticons in that they appeared in a Transformers TV show.

Basically, just take what you can get as some fans are still waiting for updates to their favourite figures.

I don't get why are you mentioning Predaking. There was only TWO. The G1 original, and that huge Titan one. That's it. It's not a team that is remade over and over. If people want a Combiner-Wars sized Predaking, they'll just have to go for an undersized K.O. Personally, I don't feel the need at all because the G1 original is already excellent and IS CW sized already.

As for Devastator, there was many versions, but only ONE truly "G1", the titan CW. Once again, people can just go for the undersized K.O as I did. If G1 Devastator would ever been remade, it would be for the MP line by Takara. And they would have to slowly make them over the years as they did with the Studio Series ROTF Devastator.

Now that leave the "big six" that are being remade over and over again, meaning Optimus, Megatron, Soundwave, Bumblebee, and Starscream. But those are the breadwinner, the gateway to Transformers for many.

THAT LEAVE TONS AND TONS OF NEW CHARACTERS THAT ALWAYS APPEAR ALL YEAR!
Just because what you want is not being made doesn't mean that Hasbro is not making anything new ever. There's still HUNDREDS of characters to be made. Just give it time and eventually, the character you really want will be made.

Also, please, PUT THOSE BANDAI INSECTICONS TO REST.
You will never, ever, EVER see them again. those are Bandai's property.
FOR EVER. So if you want a modern take of the Bandai Insecticons, take it to Bandai. Like they did for the classic Gobots.

I'm not a lawyer, and maybe I missed something in the time since RiD and when CW Chop Shop came out, but I personally don't think this is accurate. The original toy designs and the molds are Bandai's property, but their names and characterizations are Hasbro's. Hasbro would need to make updated transformation designs for updated toys, which would obviously mean new molds. IP doesn't mean "no one else can make a cicada that turns into a robot for 35 years."

Of course, none of that means that Hasbro wants to make new Deluxe Insecticons, or that they should, just that they can. There are lots of reasons they still might not want to.

If that was true, we would have seen Gobots Cy-Kill, Leader-One, Scooter, and so on by now. But to avoid the Bandai license, they would have to change them so much that they will not be recognisable.
If the Bandai Insecticons ever come back as Transformers, they would have to look so different, that they would have nothing to do with the originals, making those "remakes" pointless.
They could make a Select SS-86 Wreck-Garr in Cy-Kill colors but that's about it. Like they did with Universe deluxe Mirage in Gobots Crasher colors. But both aren't nor will ever be the classic Gobots.

They could make new original character though. I'll always welcome NEW characters rather than pale imitations.

-Kanrabat- wrote:I don't get why are you mentioning Predaking.

Unfortunately an undersized KO of PotP Predaking doesn't exist that I know of, otherwise I'd be al over it like I was the undersized KO Devastator

-Kanrabat- wrote:Now that leave the "big six" that are being remade over and over again, meaning Optimus, Megatron, Soundwave, Bumblebee, and Starscream. But those are the breadwinner, the gateway to Transformers for many.

Actually it's far more than that. If we got just those 6-8 legacy characters (I'd include Shockwave and Grimlock as well), every couple years it would be fine. But in T30, Prime Wars, and now WFC we've had *many* of the 84-86 characters done over 2-3 times at least. Each line does fill in some of the holes, but not many. Aside from BW characters, and Fossilizers that are new, Tracks is the only Original Series character released so far in Kingdom that hasn't had a new figure in the last decade. (Slammer will be the 2nd I believe)

Aside from the afore mentioned Deluxe Insections, Raiden (If we ever see the TT Masterpiece), and the remaining 2 1987 Autobot Targetmasters, I believe most of the characters from 84-87 have had modern updates, but 88-92 still have some huge gaps to fill. I understand niche characters, and some Japanese characters may be harder to market, but Hasbro/TT have produced several of them in recent years, I just want to continue to see them coming, even if they are only through Selects or whatever means necessary.

It's possible Hasbro legal doesn't even want to mess with it at all, but it's untrue to refer to GoBots as a "Bandai license." GoBots is Hasbro IP, which is documented and demonstrated through the IDW comics miniseries. The characters in that book had all the design fidelity to the originals, even as the plot was changed. Notably, the Action Robo releases don't use the GoBots brand name or character names, which would require Bandai to license from Hasbro.

But what you're really getting at is the more relevant question. Even though Hasbro owns the GoBots IP, could they produce toys that infringe on Bandai's more narrow rights? And the answer is "it depends" or "probably not but maybe," and that could be enough for Hasbro not to bother. The other point that you make, like a retooled Wreck-Gar into Cy-Kill wouldn't be the "Classic GoBot," or I guess "real," is probably just a personal feeling one way or the other

I've gotten really off-topic by expanding on this, if there's any interest in continuing the discussion I'll take it to a new thread. I find toy intellectual property fascinating and I think there are a lot of misconceptions about it, but I'm no expert.

I see nothing but dead horses being beaten again and again and again. For a line that's all about change, they sure don't change much do they? I don't see a single name there that hasn't been redone a half dozen times in the last 10 years. Fans get all excited about being fed the same thing. Even pizza lovers get sick of it after a while. The one good thing about the movieverse was that it was WAY different than before (and the whining tears of 10's of vocal fans ruined that)...a new take on old stuff, whereas this stuff is all just a do-over on the same thing over and over again. "We'll change this little bit and because the fans are sheep they will buy it over and over again!" Even Cyberverse is just G1 Redux essentially.

I know I'm kind of trolling, but I've seen a few people here that are thinking the same. But most seem to be along the lines of "The TF mythos is rich with good stories and characters so why change?" Yes, there is a great mythos and it's really diverse. Why, then, has everything the last decade been exactly the same thing redone over and over? Where are the OTHER characters? Could a new line/mythos with good characters ENRICH everything? Or should we be happy with HasTak just making micro-changes and rereleasing the exact same characters over and over? Hoist and Trailbreaker? Done in Generations, CW, and WFC. Sideswipe and Sunstreaker? Same. SKids? Ironhide? Ratchet? I'm not even going to get started on the seekers and the Dinobots. It's the same characters redone with maybe 1 or two "new" (read: old but not yet redone) characters. Windblade, Drift, and Victorion are the only real completely new characters in the TF mythos since Beast Wars.
