If you're collecting Micromasters like Pokemon and strive to build the largest base for them possible then you're going to want this set! Thanks to Seibertronians LinaNui and Nuclearxpotato we're getting our first look at the fifth and final Galactic Odyssey Collection entry Botropolis Rescue Mission at Amazon for $59.99. Release is planned for February 15, 2021, but as with all of the GO line that's likely to change. Turns out the rumors were true and we are indeed getting a white version of Ironworks (with no name change) along side a repainted Airwave now named Overair that changes things up with with two shades of dark gray plastic and added gold paint details. The colors of both were intentionally designed to complement Sky Lynx to really expand your launch base.
Along with the modulators we're also getting more Micromasters based on the Astro Squad. Individual names aren't given and the first is a simple repaint of the previously released space shuttle which replaces much of the shuttle's black outline with red. Names could be the same as the previous release as well like with Ironworks. The more interesting set is based on the team's missile truck members Missile Master and Moonrock (no telling what the final names will be), repaints of the Battle Squad figures Direct-Hit and Power Punch with the canon replaced by a missile launcher unique to this set. If you're after all of the unique Micromasters you will need this set to complete two-thirds of the Astro Squad.
A single photo shows a white version of Doubledealer's missile similar to the original Rocket Base that came with Countdown. None of the descriptions mention the missile so it remains a mystery if the missile will actually be included in this set or if it was borrowed from a possible Doubledealer redeco.
Amazon's description is as follows: As the Autobots and Decepticons speed through space during the events of Earthrise, special side missions take some of their members off course. Their duties lead them to unfamiliar planets where they encounter epic adventures and unknown dangers. Now fans can come along for the journey and explore the Transformers universe through the Galactic Odyssey Collection. Sky Lynx is in trouble. Overair, Ironworks, and members of the Astro Squad are tasked with the mission to find and rescue him. They encounter a roving comet called Botropolis,. They set up base on the traveling city and use it to search the universe for signs of Sky Lynx. Set up base for the Sky Lynx rescue mission with this Botropolis Rescue pack! Fans can convert Overair and Ironworks into their Modular Battle Station modes and connect them together to form a large base of operations. Astro Squad figures are to scale with the modular Battle Stations and are able to ride the tracks. Overair, Ironworks and the Astro Squad are redeco'd to match the color scheme of WFC-E24 Sky Lynx (sold separately, subject to availability). Once rescued, he can be attached to form an even larger Modular Battle Station! This pack is the fifth and final of 5 in the Galactic Odyssey Collection, available exclusively on Amazon. Collect all 5 to discover all 5 planets and top secret side missions! (Each sold separately. Subject to availability).
So what do you think about the final Galactic Odyssey set? Is the inclusion of more Modulators, Sky Lynx compatibility and two (four?) new Micromasters enough to get you to pre-order? Let us know in the Energon Pub forums!

Japan's Landshaker and Sky Hyper vehicles:
Or a much bigger long shot, Europe's Rescue Force (specifically jet and buggy):
The Micromaster vehicles seem more likely, but this is a rescue theme so I won't entirely rule out Rescue Force. Though that depends on the current design team knowing any of these exist and I'm not so sure about that.

I mean, if you (or anyone else for that matter) need alternate name suggestions that are suitably space-themed:o.supreme wrote:Thanks for the info. Too bad they couldn't come up with a new character name for the Ironworks repaint, instead of just "being Ironworks" in a new paint job. C'mon Hasbro, we've been used to repaints form the very beginning, making them different characters is what keeps us coming back
-Moonradar (Countdown's name in Japan)
-Comettor (Armada Jetfire's Mini-Con)
-Sky Blast or Payload (2/3 of the Armada Requiem Blaster)
-"Astroworks" (what a lot of individuals were calling this repaint when he was just a rumor)
Or if you don't want it to be space-themed, you could just call him Glasspit anyway like you mentioned in your more recent post.
EDIT: I also saw some TFW users throwing around Launchpad and Spaceport as options.

Like this.
Both shuttle dudes have 5mm pegs that can flip out in shuttle mode, then its a matter of finding the right hole on DD's missile. There's only like 6.
So glad they are using Dd's missile, but I did it first

Lmao, now I feel kinda dumb. Literally never noticed the back half had a post even though literally all Micromasters do

See, what I need now is like 8 of Airwave/Overair's gun barrels, attached in sets of 4 and strapped to each side. Maybe someone can make some resin copies...

Only bummer is, again, we have a set that doesn't really make any sense compared to the planet it's on. I think they should have thought that through more

The clones set makes sense if you factor in the previously released Decepticon clones. Since their Beast Planet bio talks about beast bots vs non beast bots. of course they don's include pounce and wingspan in their read-up, but it makes sense in a round-about sorta way.

But I would like more than a roundabout answer. "Beast planet" = autobot clones because their archenemies are beastformers is just not as straightforward as I'd like it to be.
The micromasters and Paradron set are the only ones where I feel the theme and the bots included actually fit appropriately.

It almost seems like they started out with an idea with the Paradon set, and then just ran out of time do develop any type of coherent backstory for the other 4 and just threw some figures they wanted to redeco or re-release and just made something up to sort of fit.

Thank you. Actually the space theme doesn't bother me, it's pretty cool actually, I just don't like repaints of the same character. I'll probably just call him Glasspit even though the colors and accessories dont match .
I mean back in the day, if they just named all 3 Jets "Starscream", and you could just happen to get him in 3 different colors, I think the history of Transformers would be very different... . Does anyone happen to remember Super Human Samurai Syber-Squad (The Westernization of Gridman), Playmates released the titular character in at least a dozen different colors (just straight repaints, nto even new accessories) instead of releasing more monster figures. Killed the line instantly. I'm not saying this example is the same by any means, but Hasbro has been pretty good about creating new character names and profiles for using the same mold on multiple occasions, they just need to keep doing it.

100% this. Adding a new name and a couple of sentences worth of backstory does so much more than just giving the figure a new deco.o.supreme wrote:Nemesis Primal wrote:Or if you don't want it to be space-themed, you could just call him Glasspit anyway like you mentioned in your more recent post.

Other than that, I find him to be a really fun figure to transform. I really like how between Wheeljack, Sunstreaker and Runamuck, they came up with 3 similar yet different transformations.
Wave 3 deluxes turned out really solid.

You know, if they had done that, I bet the fiction would have depicted him as some sort of camouflaging spy with color-changing powers, or as having three different colorations for different missions: Black for space missions, gray for sky missions, and blue for sea missions.o.supreme wrote:I mean back in the day, if they just named all 3 Jets "Starscream", and you could just happen to get him in 3 different colors, I think the history of Transformers would be very different... .

Kinda like an expanded RiD 2015 "desert camo" and "arctic camo" thing, only limited to one single character? *imagines a box set of 25 different decos*

I appreciate what they were trying to do in mimicking his original toy, but it just looks dumb. Good intentions, but bad execution.
Since he has to have heel parts for stability anyway, I like that they engineered the fake wheels. I wish they had painted the hubcaps, but since that part slides into a narrow space, I guess the paint would get rubbed off anyway.

I do! One of my earliest sets. Summer 2008, we were in a CVS and there in the toys section were the whole set, all six. Because my brother was with me, my mother had us split the set between us, three for him and three for me. Storm Jet was one of mine. I was 8, he was 4. I believe that was the first and last time I've ever gotten Transformers at CVS. Unfortunately, we've since lost the head and Air-raid, but the rest are all intact, even the GPS-laden crotch piece.
But you're right, it is a pretty random reference if intentional.

Yep! Of course, I mean 'set' loosely, they were all individually packaged, but as a combiner team I think it applies.

I wouldn't call Earthrise Ratchet bad, just disappointing (I wanted an A.I.R.Lock version of the full G1 sled/repair bay, not its Transform Jr cousin).transform75 wrote:Just got these bad boys
And Lifeline is a boy in your headcanon?
Anyway...
Warning for possible shameless plug:
Something I've missed from Titans Return and Power of the Primes is the collector cards. I finally got to work making some for WFC figures based on the TR cards, starting with the Horrorcons (who in a way are TR figures released after the fact). And on the off chance that I'm not the only one who wants such a thing, you can read about it in this thread. So far it's just Snapdragon, Apeface, and Springer, but there will more. Linking to the existing thread because it saves bother and it's a SIEGE-ER mix.

That's really cool, I'm surprised they figured that out, but they do pull a few rabbits out of their hats every now and then like repainting Astrotrain like a duo from Landcross. I never got the Universe versions of these molds because I got many of the Japanese versions (the "reissues" not the originals: Six Wing, Six Turbo, Six Builder, and Decepticon Six Builder) from a seller, I think it was called Snarl's Shop, for something like $25 a set.
I think I'll continue to call the front half Storm Jet, but call the rear half Skyboom after the Energon Mini-con shuttle. Speaking of which, that mold also got the same Storm Jet color scheme three years later as Cybertron Ramjet.
In other news, Target canceled my Trailbreaker order, again claiming I didn't approve his delay. That's total BS, I did approve the delay on him and Sunstreaker as they were in the same order and the other two from wave 3 had shipped. Sunstreaker wasn't cancelled, in fact I got an other delay for him that I had to again approve, he and Sunstreaker were still in the same order together as of a few days ago. Looks like I'll have to hope I can find him at a decent price elsewhere, sure won't be as good as what I would have paid for him ($15 after .5% tax and free shipping).

I had the same/opposite happen to me, they cancelled Sunstreaker claiming I didn't approve the delay, but asked me to approve a delay on Trailbreaker which would make me lose the BOGO price. I had previously approved delays on both. I already thought they might be cancelled and ordered from Amazon and received them already last week.
