*edit* It's not a bad figure IMO. But I'm not sure what to think of the exposed ball joints on the fuselage sides.

anyways. i'm all in for this. grey starscream will always beat out white starscream. especially with the light blue. it's perfect.

I don't like the plastic-y color on him: and I feel that Takara are leaning more on the 'toy-value' of this item than on the 'display-value' (and I'm guessing they are banking on a cheaper 'translation' to a future Hasbro release). Same thing happened to Binaltech (before that fizzled out).
Economically, it's probably a good idea but, as a fan of highly detailed Japanese toys like the Yamato 1/60 Macross figures, to me this seems a step backwards in the 'Masterpiece' aspect.

I just hope they didnt use that softer plastic

Since he looked so cheap.

i'd MUCH rather have a more "simplistic" "cheap" paint job as long as it's accurate to what the figure is trying to portray.. which, in this case, it is.
i certainly don't think it look cheap, in my opinion i think it looks way more crisp and less dull than the US release of the figure.

Otherwise this figure is a huge step up. The addition of heelspurs is especially ingenious.
Of course, all the improvements are what should've been done in the first place, so I have somewhat mixed feelings...still on my want list though, but I don't know if I'll ever get around to it unless they do a Hasbro release. I would like to see a Thundercracker repaint without the Coronation Gear.

Again, Takara misses the mark and comes out looking cheap, although their prices say otherwise.

I'd also like to mention that when looking at the prototype pics, you can tell that the hands are unchanged. This means that Shapeways hands are still compatible!

I don't think there is one...

I know what you mean... I guess it would have been nice if they had changed it to be more secure.

For over 150$, I would have prefered a completely new mold.
I will pass on that one unless Hasbro release him in Canada.
(Insert comment about the usual Store Exclusive Bullshit will happen again.)
For now, I'm plently satisfied with these:

I was examining the side-by side pics more closely, and I think MP-11 not only has a different face and head sculpt, it's also bigger, and I guess more in proportion? I'm not sure I like it more or less.

Popping off the hip-kibble on any old MP seekers is pretty easy and it goes back in with as much ease.
Then, they snap solidly on the legs. Sure, you need the stand, but why would you not use it?

I did it and it looks pretty good. The extra posability makes him look even more awesome!

Yep, it's now a clip-type joint that should pop loose instead of breaking:

I will not call you a ham-handed, but I wonder waht you mean by "breaking". I have 2 MPStarscream, one old G1 colors and one Ghost. I transformed them back-and-forth a couple of times and no breaks of any kinds ever happen.

This. I didn't think I had any issues with any of mine either...then I went and inspected my Starscream that I transformed several times and noticed the hinge had a small crack in it. I ended up repairing it by reinforcing it with super glue while applying pressure with a needle nose, but it put my off from transforming the mold any further.

i just dont understand why people are buying this when the igear version is much cheaper and delt with all the problems the original hastak mould had. Getting the igear version+the coronation kit is just cheaper than having to buy this version from takara.
I just find it alittle insulting that only NOW there saying we can have this figure AFTER we have bought the crappy gundam version with awful hip kibble and then the repainted hasbro version with all the same problems.
They should have released MP starscream like this 2-3 years ago instead of giving us this crappy version

I will not go as far as to say the old MP Screamers is "crappy". While the original MP Optimus have a perfect robot mode but a flawed vehicle mode, the MP Screamers have a perfect jet mode but a flawed robot mode. A flawed robot mode easely nfixed just by forcing a partforming by popping-off the wingflaps of the hips and plugging them on the legs.
However, making the original one GREEN was pretty stupid.

I haven't let it stop me from transforming it carefully, but if I notice further damage I'll take steps to repair it. IMO it's probably fine just leaving the crack how it is as it alleviates the stress in that area.

I was initially annoyed and agree this is how it should have been originally done, but seeing the figure I feel it would be worth another purchase because it has enough changes from the original. It's an impressive-looking piece that would look great in my collection. If I really felt bothered enough about it I could always sell my MP-03, but I'm not, so I won't.
As for iGear, I'm not really fond of KOs in my collection, whether they are cheaper or not. I do own other 3rd Party figures (Fansproject) but the distinction lies in the fact that they were designed from the ground up to be something new, whereas the iGear seekers are just copies of the real thing. I purchased 1 KO figure, G1 Mirage, and regretted it soon after because I feel like it's 'not the real thing'. But that's just my personal opinion on how 3rd Party & KO figures do or do not fit into my collection, not trying to start a debate.

Agreed. I know why they did it, but it doesn't make sense for what the MP line was supposed to accomplish.

But I'm definitely going to have to check that wing joint ...
As for this new version, I'm definitely on board. Sooner or later. But first .... new MP Convoy.

Btw to those who complain on his "cheap-looking" paint job? You do know it's meant to be painted like in the G1 cartoon right? Seriously look it up on google and try to compare MP-11 and the G1 cartoon Starscream. The paint and details are spot-on and accurate.
And here I thought you guys want "G1 accurate Starscream". You do know that most of the details in the original MP seeker mould doesnt exist in the G1 cartoon right?
So here's 2 choices
A) Choose the "Extremely detailed" painted Starscream that doesnt look accurate to the G1 Cartoon.
B) Or choose the accurately painted MP-11 that looks like a spitting image of the G1 cartoon Starscream that I know most of you loved.
IMO the B choice is much better. I rather have accuracy than "Overdone" details >.>...
