The Walmart exclusive Velocitron Speedia 500 set, which is not available to purchase/preorder until July, has been revealed by hasbro today.
It includes deluxes Blurr, Clampdown, Cosmos, Burnout and Roadrocket, voyagers Override and Hauler and leader Black Convoy (aka RID Scourge).
Important points, Clampdown has white plastic instead of red plastic in areas like the legs as a conscious decision to further differentiate him from Red Alert. Also, the panel confirmed that the Black Convoy in the set is meant to be RID SCOURGE, unlike what some fans had guessed (or hoped?).

With all these Sideswipe repaints, wonder when we will see another use of the Sunstreaker mold. Been so limited, and its the one I want the most, since I was never able to pickup a Sunstreaker or the Selects repaints Cordon and Spinout.

Using the Crosscut head for Burnout is an interesting play, I don't not like it?
Cosmos...sure is a G1 Cosmos, which means I'm passing as expected. The flag is funny though. Looks like the rumor of being a Warpath retool/shared engineering did actually pan out, looks like the arm/backpack setup works the exact same.
Road Rocket looks nice, so I guess Clampdown and Cosmos will be the only ones I'm passing on.
Are there other Sunstreaker repaints for them to do? I thought those 2 Diaclones were the only ones. Or are you just looking for a straight rerelease?Overcracker wrote:With all these Sideswipe repaints, wonder when we will see another use of the Sunstreaker mold. No, I think those 2 are it for Sunstreaker repaints.
We have 4 straight releases of Wheeljack and like 8 or so Sideswipe repaint / retools to various degrees, they could just make up a color. I just want the mold in some way.
A straight re-release of SS would also be fine by me.

Not to make him more boring, but to differentiate him and make him more police themed while keeping red alert firefighter themed.

They did say that both he and Override were fully new molds. They usually let us know if they are partials.
Sabrblade wrote:Also, Road Rocket may or may not be female now, as they kept using female pronouns to refer to the figure in the stream. And, Scourge's robot mode deco not being accurate was not addressed.
It wasn't adressed but at least now the version he represents is adressed, and it's RID Scourge. Even on the box, so the Black Convoy listing was just a listing code and not the product's final release name.
As for Raodrocket, yeah they definitely kept saying She. I think they have changed the character's gender so that it works with the more feminin mold. Seems like female TFs can have all sorts of body types but it doesn't work the same way for males. I mean, there is a rather obvious breast plate on that Arcee mold.

> The biggest surprise is Scourge's naming. The leaks and store listings made it sound like they'd be going with the name Black Convoy to avoid confusion with Scourge from Rise of the Beasts, but because the movie has been pushed back so far perhaps they can get away with calling him Scourge now? Either way it's nice they went with the name Scourge, even though "Robots in Disguise 2000 Universe Scourge" is a bit of a mouthful isn't it?
> I'm not a big fan of Cosmos's vehicle mode, the top section that forms the robot's torso looks a bit too tall. Looking up some old images of Cosmos I'm guessing they were going for G1 toy and cartoon model accuracy, but even then, the top section on the original toy and cartoon model weren't as tall as the one seen here. Coudn't they have designed it so it collapses down a bit more? Either way, the flag accessory is cute, but shame only one side of it is painted.
> Generally though, this isn't a bad product line, even if I don't want everything it's nice how much effort has been put in to make it more than just a line of convenient repaints. I'll definitely be pre-ordering Override and Blurr, but I'm undecided on Scourge and Cosmos just yet. The rest I can skip, but they still look good.
Also, on an unrelated note, I can't help but feel the designer during the stream was actively taunting us with that Earthrise Dirge and Ramjet box in the background...

I know making the deco worse wasn't why they did it and there was an actual reason, but that's still what they ended up doing regardless.william-james88 wrote:Nemesis Primal wrote:Oh, so they consciously screwed up Clampdown's deco and made him look boring? I don't think they share any parts, but the engineering and how he transforms looks mostly the same to me, so either it's the same engineering and they didn't call it out because there's no shared parts, or it is new and they just took entire transformation steps from Warpath wholesale anyway.william-james88 wrote:Looks like the rumor of being a Warpath retool/shared engineering did actually pan out, looks like the arm/backpack setup works the exact same.

Walmart Canada sucks ass in general. They don't carry exclusives consistently. With marvel legends, they transfer their exclusives to other random retailers (so skipping them). Not sure if they will do that with these as well.

We don't have Wal-Marts here in the UK, but since at least 2020 Wal-Mart exclusives like the Netflix figures and the three Legacy Beasts have been available on both Hasbro Pulse and a large toy retailer called Smyths Toys, who are usually quite reliable for stocking exclusives. While I've never dealt with Wal-Mart, I haven't heard great things about them and I sympathise with those who struggle with them.

When I first saw the Arcee repaint I immediately thought G1 Override, though that would be too confusing since we're getting the American version of Nitro Convoy.
As for Cosmos, I like the robot mode for the most part, but that UFO mode is trash. Like, literally. He looks like a hovering trashcan. Like R2-D2 on meth. So unless he impressed me in hand, I'm sticking with TR Cosmos, who is a pretty great little figure.

Clampdown: Diaclone-y goodness right there. Looking forward to pairing him up with Cordon. He will also be different from Red alert since I didn't get the kingdom one, so earth mode and cybertronian modes for them.
Burnout: more Diaclone goodness. Glad I passed on Skids for her.
Blurr: I wanted Armada, but IDW Blurr will continue to be a great choice for me, thank you.
Road Rocket: that Arcee mold looks nice in red, and the new head is great. Good looking figure, will love to get her.
Cosmos: I positively adore this. I had every intention of skipping this, but I love it. It's chunky, it's tubby, and I love the alt mode, that is RG1 Cosmos right there, and I love it. I think this will be my main Cosmos and my T30 one will go to the Cyberverse shelf with Meteorfire. that is a good compromise for me.
Hauler: for some reason, the shots with the claw arm have won me over on him. Only have Artfire from the mold, so I don't have the crane yet, so that works.
Override: pure beauty, thank you.
Scourge: I find it amusing that they are officially calling it "RiD2000" instead of "2001", but I don't care, I love how this guy looks, and he is the one I most want from this wave. He looks so good

Arcee, at least my copy, doesn't have a floppy waist. You just have to click it in properly.

Note that I said male body not character. It's just an observation that Override was a male character turned female for the west, Roadrocket was made female just because they seemingly couldn't be bothered to make an alternate male torso for the mold, and Burn Out is straight up Crosscut in black. It's kinda interesting that worked out that way. Though I do think there's nothing wrong with Roadrocket being a skinny guy, the mold is so obviously designed with him in mind after all.

Yeah unfortunately this means I'll likely miss out the same way I did on Bee and Soundwave, What's worse is we have to wait till July and try to remember. I'd have rather they just did it like they do for Star Wars and out up preorders next day at 1PMso we can just get it out of the way and not worry about it.
Cosmos is a definite purchase for me with Clampdown being a maybe, the rest are a pass even though I like the looks of new Blurr. The only aspect that bother me about Cosmos is that overly large looking part above the saucer area, it just looks a tad out of scale with the rest of it to me, particularly in alt mode it really stands out. Still he looks great and I'm glad I waited and not bough the TR version because the detail is very nice!
And yeah the hollow arms on a deluxe figure makes me think they could have spend the fifty cents to cover them versus a Core Class bot. I also hope he looks alright next to Cliffjumper and the other smaller bots because he does appear a tad large.

Wild speculation:
Crasher will be a retooled Wheeljack (closest thing we've had to her original Gobots alt mode, but watch it be Mirage again). Shadow Striker as a heavy Siege Chromia retool (their bot modes have very similar back and arm kibble).
Hot Rod needs to be the cartoon colors, bonus points if he comes with Daniel on a hoverboard.
The Leader slot is a mystery, wouldn't surprise me if it were Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Prime in the black and red colors of the original repaint. That would actually make me happy and it would make sense for a firetruck to be here, to say nothing of the Velocitron theme.
Some things I'd like to see in this line, be it wave 2 or a possible third wave if this goes the way of the Netflix line.
-Transmetal Tigatron (from the recent Ravage figure, not sure what price point that would fit)
-Sunstreaker (with proper matching yellow and red shoulders)
-Glyph or Tap-out (kinda crazy they haven't done these obvious and long requested repaints yet, but we got Roadranger and Puffer somehow)
-Nightracer (it's in her name and this line loves its female racers, maybe a repaint of Knock Out?)

I can accept 2 or 4 exclusives. But there's a WHOLE LINE of 30 something transformers with many characters that are 100% original that will be absolutely impossible to get anywhere. My Walmart never have transformers and Walmart.ca suck so much ass, I just have to stick my butt on my screen to get a thorough enema.

That might not be a joke. The original rumors said that Override was a retool of Hot Rod, and there was precedent in the 3P scene where I think MMC used a shared design for those two. If it's an IDW Hot Rod, as with Legacy IDW Blurr, that would arguably be a better base.
I certainly don't think it's likely, but it's at least plausible.

Posted by william-james88 on June 25th, 2022 @ 1:18pm CDT
The character this was supposed to be was not specified when he got the task. The only specification regarding the deco was that the trailer should be silver. As you can read below, the designer was guided by the material of the mold. So, with Laser Prime (who is the main use of this mold), both the alt mode windows and robot mode chest windows are made of clear plastic which is a departure from the original toy. Since the clear plastic for "Scourge" is pink, that means the entire robot mode torso would also be pink clear plastic. This mold was designed so that the torso clear plastic would match the alt mode clear plastic. So, when it came time to decide the colour of the torso, black was chosen for the torso to match the alt mode accordingly.
So there you go, it seems to all come back from a lack of unified direction for the deco and character at the beginning as well as limitations from the way the Legacy Laser Prime mold is constructed.
The designer does conclude that despite all that (limitations and lack of clarity) he went with the best looking deco he could think of. On that point, it is hard to fault him. While the deco doesn't look like Scourge, it is still striking and well done, as many fans have already said on message boards and social media across the web.
Let us knw what you think of both the reasoning and the toy.

I'm kind of using a different more head-canon-esque explanation for the character in my collection, anyway.

I certainly don't think it's likely, but it's at least plausible.
It would be easier IMO to retool 86 Rod into IDW Rod than Override. With the 86 mold, the chest and shins could be swapped out very easily, and the tall shoulders could also be done if they don't mind sacrificing articulation. I'm not even sure how IDW Rod's shoulders could even work with Override's transformation scheme, and the chest would be more complicated to retool. Not that Override couldn't work, it would just take more extensive retooling.
Not to mention, IIRC it was clarified that the wave 2 voyager assortment was going to be 2 Hot Rods and 1 Override, so it would be a bit odd having the whole wave be the same mold.
