Fans were disappointed when yesterday's stream revealed nothing really new. It was, however, our first good look at the Reactivate Soundwave toy. And the reaction to it has been... not great. We now have an image of the game model (which is itself based on the evergreen design) that was used to design the toy so you can see where all the details came from. You will let us know if the proportions are better in the game model or if the toy is being faithful to it. There are also in hand images of this toy from Sonic Bomber Core.

We also have official images of all the reveals below along with listings for where to get these. The listing on Amazon claims both Soundwave and Prime are 6.5 inches high, but Soundwave appears much shorter than Prime in the reveal video (also found below). Since the Soundwave/Bumblebee bundle is a voyager and a deluxe, it would make sense that the similarly priced Prime/Soundwave bundle is also made up of those two classes, making Soundwave more of a deluxe class. The toys are said to be more complicated than the typical deluxes/voyagers found in the toy aisle. Also, these boxsets are limited releases.

Bumblebee/Starscream: https://www.amazon.com/Transformers-Rea ... 102&sr=8-1

While I shouldn't be surprised, $63 for each seems high. Probably shouldn't if each one is a voyager.

They look good though

Starscream and Optimus are Voyagers. Soundwave and Bumblebee are Deluxes. And these two-packs are also limited releases.

I don't get the criticism of Soundwave here, since when is it unattractive to have a big chest and long legs

Sadly, $63 is not that much higher than what retail prices are now. At retail, a deluxe and voyager now go for $60 so this is just $3 extra.

I don't like the limited edtion stuff, reminds me of first edition Transformers Prime toys which sucks.
I hope the game is just a good single player game and not some digital for windows live online "experience" nonsense. The trailer gives a good vibe, but we need gameplay footage. They say it releases in december, that's december 2024 right?

I only criticized it when I thought they were stretching him out to make him look taller, but now seeing he's pretty much the same proportions as the game art and he isn't full of hollow gaps from behind I'm totally sold on him.

I find the whole "limited" nature questionable, feels like false scarcity since they're still available everywhere this many days later. The way they were telling people to hurry and buy them made it sound like they were only being produced in small numbers, hence requiring the small price markup.

I'm sorry, but when I see these bots designs, and especially for Soundwave, all I can see are candy apples.

Image

Huge bubble torsos atop tiny lanky legs. It's ugly. The in game designs are much better.

And the worst is that each of these 2 packs are a whopping 100$CAN EACH!
For 15$CAN more, I have two more deluxes with the BWBB troopers 4 pack!

Hard pass unless there's a clearance sale.

I preordered the 2-pack and really like that Prime. My only complaint is that his back has that hollow section where we can literally see and touch his spinal cord. Looks like a fatal design flaw. What would keep Megatron from reaching in and just ripping it out?

Ha.

If they were going to homage a feature of the original, a terrible design flaw wouldn't have been on my list. I'm still getting the figure, but I'll have to do something about that open space, as well as the pieces hanging on the side. They totally throw off Prime's aesthetic from the front.

Whoa! Just got an arriving soon notice from Pulse for both sets. I know it isn't unusual for things to show up early these days but I was hoping after Christmas. When I saw the two emails I thought it was going to be for Deathsaurus.

You guys buy the set at around 15$CAN cheaper than us Canadians. At that price, it would be reasoable-ish. But we must pay 100$CAN for each set. For me, I don't think they'll be worth that price.

Once you got your sets, tell us what you think. Meaning are their worth their full price, or are they more of a wait for a sale thing.

Got my shipping soon notices as well for the sets.

Based on those in the UK who have got them so far, I am excited. They are involved, well painted, and apparently have some good mass and height to them. They have been appearing to be superior to current retail figures at the moment

Watching Emgo’s review of the Prime and Soundwave set, and ohhh my Primus….
All those pictures we got are so misleading. Soundwave is tiny.

Its border line false advertising.

Hasbro told us upfront that he is a Deluxe. They showed off all four Reactivate figures together when they first presented them in the fanstream.

"Deluxe," "voyager," and "leader" don't mean jack-shit as far as size is concerned nowadays. You should know that.

Even as a deluxe, Soundwave could have had a much bigger bot mode if all that backpack would have been used for the legs and a longer torso. His overall proportions would have been a bit better too instead of looking like Doctor Eggman.

Still tiny though. And somehow in the fan stream it didn't look as egregious, or it just wasn't such a straight comparison.

They also used the super out of proportion official product image.

I Got the Screamers / Bee 2 pack.

Bee is amazing looking in both modes , but he's fiddly to transform.

Starscream is excellent all over, but mine have the classic QC issue of having the exact same gun twice.
My local geek shop is closed until the 26th so I'll be able to exchange the "clone" gun for the correct one next Tuesday.

Anyone else got that issue?

I got the Reactivate toys, and have had a blast playing with them. These are easily some of the most fun toys to come out this year.

Some thoughts:

Soundwave: this has become my new favorite Soundwave toy, of any Soundwave. This guy is good. I love how stocky his torso is, the backpack and stocky stature give him the look of a communications guy who is carrying a lot of crucial gear. The limbs are good. His head is beautiful, though I wish his eyes were yellow like the box. Truck mode is very solid. Transformation is also good, I enjoy the way it wraps out and around. He's good.

Bumblebee: This guy is probably a top 10 toys of the year, and maybe top 5 Bumblebee toys ever. The reinvention of him as an armored Dune buggy is flawless, and the toy is so strong in both modes. Transformation is also really damn good. He lacks a wrist and waist joint, but those don't really take away from how good he is. This guy rocks.

Optimus: This is also a solid toy. there is some fiddle factor with the backpack components, and I think the axe was done a bit weird, but he's still very good. Not as Classics-Prime as i was expecting but still good. I really wish he had more max maxness besides the cowcatcher though.

Starscream: another banger right there. All the black looks really good on him, gives him a true illusion of being shot down and crashed. I love the headsculpt, the transformation is good, and the alt mode is pretty sleek. This clears the recent Siege and ER seeker molds to me.

If I had to rank them, I'd rank them:

1) Bumblebee
2) Soundwave
3) Starscream
4) Optimus Prime

A friend and I purchased both sets, as he wanted Bee and Soundwave so I took Prime and Screamer. I'm happy with both my figures, though the bottom of Prime in truck mode could have been tidier. As for Starscream, he's near perfect in jet mode, though I had a hard time keeping his back panels in place. Overall I still prefer the ER figure in both modes, but not by much. These will now become the IDW representatives on my shelves.

Not all seeker molds get repaints. If we forget the usual gimmicky "kids lines" and stick to the main Generations line. For example, CW Starscream.
And if a Starscream get repainted, Skywarp and Thundercracker will always have priority.

Anyway, if they keep their words and the two Reactivate packs will be the only time we will ever see these molds used, no repaints all all will ever be made.
Even if some repaints could be easy to do like the usual Cliffjumper from Bee, Nemesis Prime from Optimus, and Blaster from Soundwave.

I guess that explains why they didn't put Reactivate in Studio Series Gamer Edition despite the line feeling like it was tailor made for this game, it would be all they did in Studio Series for the next two years!

That also killed me theory on GE Sunstreaker, but then we got concept Megatron and Rumble, so maybe it could be a BB movie concept Sunstreaker.

I mean some Reactivate is coming in Studio Series, we already have the listing for a Lifeline, just not these four since these two-packs have been sitting around ready to go since before the game got delayed.

The listing has said Movie 6 the entire time, Sunstreaker being a scrapped/concept BB design has always been the easiest answer, people just didn't want to hear it.
