That Metroplex looks so good in the package that it's going to be hard to open it...

...But still no images of those twelve minifigures that come with him?
Those PVCs don't even look that good, in my opinion. Revoltech and Robot Replicas pulled it off much better than these.
Shockwave and his laboratory is probably the only set here that piques my interest. Generation One-inspired deco? Move aside, Fall of Cybertron Shockwave, I've found a better Classics Shockwave!

Then I saw the Deadpool Corps.
I now wish I could go to SDCC this year...

Ya. It looks like they will be non-transforming (except for Scamper, who doesn't count as one of these 12). I haven't seen anything but speculation on who the figures are or what exactly they will look like, and I've been very interested as I will have a choice to make between SDCC and the regular release of Metroplex.

I was hoping for transformer able figures

Ya, me too. I thought they would be Legends figures.

I think I remember seeing an SDCC exclusive at BBTS, but I'm not sure as I have not bought one there. The only way I've gotten one is through the Hasbro Toy Shop or Amazon.com (which was probably still HTS somehow.)

I got a few of the alternator exclusives from eBay

Look at Starscream, he doesn't look like Starscream, he looks like one of the girl cosplayers at Auto Assembly cosplaying as Starscream.

here's an idea for 3rd party figure makers... release an upgrade pack for metroplex with enough guns to form sixgun and slammer.

I hate to sound like an old fart, but I'm starting to wonder if this is worth the effort and expense just to get a second red gun without forking over even more money for the Takara Tomy edition.
This particular old fart happens to agree with you. The second red gun doesn't get you a Six-Shot figure so there isn't much point there and from my POV, given the size of those non transforming decoys, it would be more worthwhile to just pic up some loose mini-spies online to fill in that particular void if you want something close to scale. Yeah, you won't get the variety of cool designs and it looks as though one of those decoys is either Generations Scourge or the IDW Megatron that's soon to be released, but at least the mini-spies transform. In the end though it's up to you if you want to pay more for the little bit of extra bling and fancy packaging. I'm a cheap-skate so my opinion often doesn't coincide with the more avid collectors out there. It does look cool and the decoys do appeal to my nostalgic side so I'll admit to having a bit of indecision but my wallet is mightier than my nostalgic tendencies. I'm often amazed at how well it talks me out of purchases I'd otherwise love to make.

Count me as another 'old fart' that sees little to no value in getting this exclusive. One extra gun and some minis like that? Pass go, save a lot of money.

Factoring out difficulty and shipping, this set is only $25-40 more than the vanilla Metro. But yeah, unless HasbroToyShop stocks this, I'm gonna end up with Vanilla-Metro. I'm not paying Poacher fees to those A-holes who managed to get to SDCC.
I wonder what kind of limits they'll set at SDCC on this Metro... It'd be nice if one of us could make it to SDCC and just secure a sizeable stash to sell to Seibertron members! But I'm thinking it'll be something like "2 per customer" or less.

I have absolutely no clue as to what the Deadpool Squirrel and tacos are all about, but I like it!

I'm not as impressed by Metroplex as I thought I'd be. I wasn't expecting much from the twelve mini-figures, and while they are a nice little extra, I don't think they make this version more essential than either of the other two. Not really digging the chrome. It looks a little obnoxious here, and considering it may eventually chip off, again maybe not worth it. May just stick to Takara's version. Will be a damn sight easier to get hold of as well.

Probably during or after SDCC, which is 15 July. I can't imagine people getting them earlier than that.

I like the GI Joe crossover set, but like the last two years, I assume it will be sold out within seconds.

Sometimes. I think last year saw releases on the Tuesday and then more and more was released through the day into Wednesday.
