So what are we expecting? Above or below the Binaltech standard?

He does look very basic but I suppose it is very G1.

I have my pre-order in.

Being a Masterpiece has gotta make it above Binaltech. It's just smaller.

Even the Hybrid Style figures were above Binaltech (almost at Masterpiece level) and those were Scout class sized.

I'll probably buy this guy the same way I bought MP Grimlock. I'll put it off until there are haven't been any masterpieces produced in a while, then when I get him wonder why I didn't get him sooner. Lol.

Not exactly. Maybe THS-01, but THS-02 has a beautiful bot mode and pathetic alt mode. BTs have beautiful alt modes and varying degrees of decency for bot modes.

Fair enough, but BTs were pretty complex.

True. Though, how do the Alternity figures compare? More, less, the same as the BTs? Before Alternity came along, I had the top four complex lines down to the following:
  • Masterpiece
  • Hybrid Style
  • Binaltech/Alternators
  • Revenge of the Fallen

The Alternity figures are kinda two-fold, at least Convoy and Megatron. The front and middle sections have Automorph, the arms are straight-forward, it's the back end that's complicated. It's like a folding puzzle with hollow legs as a result.

Comparable in complexity, but different. BTs seemed to pay more attention to the interiors and panel lines making them look like model cars...Alternity only seem to where convenient.

Although THS, I wonder how complex they really are and how much of it is perceived due to their size. Blow them up to a size you can actually get your fingers on the parts and they might seem a bit less involved.

So far I'm digging the look of MP-12. Do you guys think this one will see a domestic Hasbro release or will licensing issues with Lambhorgini prevent that? Admittedly, I'm not too familiar with how that all works so I'd be interested to hear some people weigh in on the subject.

If he doesn't come out here, I may just have to import the Takara version. :BOT:

This guy needs to post a teaser image with this figure next to either Protector , classics Hound, Hegemon or hell, classics Sideswipe. I don't neccesarily collect MPs in fact the only one I had was Grim for awhile. His scale is acceptable on the classics shelf because he's a friggin dinosaur so it works.

I had one Binaltech, the black and silver one that had a sunstreaker face. Is that thing larger than this MP Sideswipe? It had a ton of detail, was heavy as shit and was pretty intense transforming if I remember correctly, sold it as well.

I prefer the classics hound over the BT one. I hate MP Optimus. Hegemon is better than MP Megs (imo) keeping in mind I am referring to overall scale. It should be noted I do not like classics Prime either. His arms and his height. Waiting for the Hegemon version of Prime (dont recall who made it thats why).

Soooooo...........

How big is this Lambor gonna look next to the classics Ive mentioned? If he's too big its automatic pass as I dont collect MPs. I see him as one of Prime's elite so if he's a little tall and beefy thats ok, but if he is like Towering over Protector it aint gonna work.

oh yea, I hate his classics mold too. They should make a sunstreaker with a bit more effort involved, screw red alert, what a ripoff. Tracks ok, not too much into them other 'new autobots'. In other words, I aint buyin no friggin Hoist for example if they made a Trailbreaker. The six seekers are bad enough in that regard.

Someone PM this guy and kindly ask for some scale shots.

And just my 2 cents: Is it really possible that Lamborghini wouldnt want this released in the states? That would be a kick in the testicles. I'm starting to realize no matter what I buy in america its just a bootleg compared to japan. Ah well, guess it was like that back in the day if you think about it.

Oh and one more thing. No rubber tires? Boo.

Why would an official TakaraTomy employee post comparison with a third party (A.K.A. "rival") product?

UltraMason wrote:I had one Binaltech, the black and silver one that had a sunstreaker face.
Dead End.

UltraMason wrote:Is that thing larger than this MP Sideswipe? It had a ton of detail, was heavy as shit and was pretty intense transforming if I remember correctly, sold it as well.
MP Lambor is about the same size as the Binaltech/Alternators toys.

He's roughly the size of a Voyager.

Um... okay? Why bring up Track if it's a different mold? :???:

It's not that Lamborghini wouldn't want it in the U.S.; it's if Hasbro feels the license is worth getting or not so they can sell this toy. If Hasbro feels that it's too much effort and money to get the license, then they wouldn't bother.

Hound and Sideswipe aren't hastak products?

Yes I knew his name, but the mold is clearly Sunstreaker.

MP Lambor is about the same size as the Binaltech/Alternators toys.
Im thinkin he'll be a bit bigger than what I'd like, but I can see how it'd be silly for me to try an merge MP with classics an 3rd parties in the first place, but hey that's me...I'm guessing with the right arrangement he'll fit in with some of them. Maybe...

Tracks , Skids, Inferno, Grapple, you know who I'm talkin about. Unless you're saying that Tracks is adifferent car mold altogether, as the others are repaints, with a couple added pieces. Grill, siren lights etc. What Im actually saying is I dont personally care for those Autobots enough to purchase them. I'm more into the 18 members of the Ark (and please dont nitpick what I mean by that). Tracks however is a favorite of mine especially when paired with Blaster. I grew up in that era.

I'm assuming the folks who do that sort of marketing read this forum. My comment was more or less a figure of jovial speech.

Well that sucks. I see little metal cars for sale all the time at rite-aid, it cant be too hard to get approved? Hasbro didnt make enough money to release one of their best characters? I'm sure TRU will get them eventually. Like I said, US seems to be the trickle down last stop when it comes to some of these releases. Maybe the economy and possible general lack of interest concerning big converting robots has somethin to do with it? I been a transfan my whole life since I was 4 yrs old, so its hard for me to gage other americans interest in this stuff. I hate the bay movies, yet people seem to love them. go figure. :michaelbay:

Sideswipe is supposed to up to Optimus's lower torso, so he's perfectly scaled with MP-10.

I mean, it's just weird for you to mention this since it's irrelevant to the topic at hand and came out of nowhere.

And, yes, Tracks's Reveal the Shield toy is a new mold on its own. Or, were you referrign to a hypothetical MP Tracks? In that case, he'd be his own mold then too.

UltraMason wrote:I'm assuming the folks who do that sort of marketing read this forum. My comment was more or less a figure of jovial speech.
Even still, these pics come from another website altogether.

And, do these TT people even understand English fluently enough to read this forum?

UltraMason wrote:Well that sucks. I see little metal cars for sale all the time at rite-aid, it cant be too hard to get approved? Hasbro didnt make enough money to release one of their best characters?
Different company who already has licenses purchased in advanced. Not Hasbro.

Well, Hasbro's not bothering with Voyager Prime Breakdown or Unicron. It's up to them if they feel like dishing out the extra cash.

These thing is supposed to be smaller than an Alt/BT. It's supposed to fit in the back of MP-10 which puts the alt mode closer to a deluxe or Alternity size. The bot mode might be a little bigger...I haven't compared an Alternity bot mode to MP-10. Unfotunately I don't feel like trying it out now to find out as it will require transforming MP-10 back to bot mode.

We have seen pics showing both that the vehicle mode fits inside the trailer and that the robot mode is as tall as a Voyager/BT toy.

I think it was said bot mode is 17cm which is a bit shorter than most Alt/BTs...but more or less comparable. Alt mode is definitely smaller than an Alt/BT, though. Looks like he'll be pretty much the same height as Classics Prime if 17cm is accurate.
