Did you recently have a big payday and are ready to start your holiday shopping for the big Transformers fan in your family? Why not get them their very own BARRICADE from the first Transformers live action film? One of three Police car Saleen Mustangs that represented Barricade in alternate mode is currently up for auction on eBay and is available for bid through tomorrow. The auction description for the car reads:

Motoexotica wrote:Motoexotica is proud to offer one of only 3 custom Saleen Mustangs built by Steve Saleen for their role as 'Barricade' in the 2007 movie blockbuster "Transformers". Steve Saleen created only 3 'Barricades' for the film and this was the #2 car, also known as the camera car. It was heavily screen used in the movie due to its attention to detail and no damage. The car features all of the standard Saleen options including 3V Saleen modified engine, mated with a 5spd transmission, full Saleen body kit, Saleen hood, Saleen sail panels, Saleen rear wing, Saleen 20" wheels, Saleen leather interior, Saleen gauges, Saleen shifter, Saleen badging, Saleen suspension, Saleen exhaust, Saleen carbon fiber front chin, and Saleen carbon fiber rear diffuser.

For the film the FX department added a Police front pushbar, state of the art Police low-profile LED lightbar, front and rear strobe lights, camera mounts, Wilwood stunt brake line-lock, tinted windows, police decals, "to punish and enslave" decals, Transformers Decepticon decals, and Michael Bay's lucky number 643. All of the lights and strobes work with no problems and are operated by a control box on the right side of the center console.

The paint on the car is nearly perfect with no major imperfections. The car has been well taken care of throughout the movie as well as after. Decals are all in good condition and not peeling off. The tires all have good tread life left on them and the wheels are free of any scuffs or curb rash.

Inside, the car retains its original interior and has not been gutted like many of these movie cars. Both seats are in great condition with no wear as well as the carpet, dash, headliner and door panels. The most major modification to the car was taking off of the supercharger. Since this was a camera car that had microphones installed, the supercharger whine would have been picked up by the microphones. Due to this, the car does not have a supercharger installed currently and does not come with one.

With this vehicle being reintroduced in the 3rd Transformers film, its value is sure to go through the roof. An interesting bit of trivia is that these cars were built by Steve Saleen as the prototypes for the S281 Extreme. We have seen a lot of these movie cars and can honestly say that this is the cleanest movie car we have ever seen. It was purpose made for the movie and only has 7,200 original miles. The car is 100% street legal and is being sold on a clean, Missouri title with VIN number 1ZVFT82H755115527.

While there's little doubt that this was one of the cars in the first movie, the rumored appearance of Barricade in TF3 described in the auction details is highly suspect and very doubtful.

What he said.

If that had any truth to it, this site would have known way before some guy trying to flip the car just because he thinks he can make a few (thousand) bucks on TF3.

Not to totally defend the sellers comments about the car but, The seller has a note added on 11-1-10 all the way at the bottom of the auction about the odometer error and that barricade will not be in T3.

"On Nov-01-10 at 10:59:09 PDT, seller added the following information:

PLEASE NOTE: The odometer discrepancy that shows was due to an inspection error. The mileage read 1,465.0 at time of inspection. When the vehicle was inspected, the inspector added the 5th digit by mistake. There is NO discrepancy with the odometer and the mileage is correct for the vehicle.

Also, this vehicle has been written out of the third Transformers film. As of right now Barricade will NOT be in Transformers 3.

Thank you all for looking!!"

Anyone else find it ironic how Barricade ended up on eBay?

While he won't be in TF3 (in car-mode, at least), it'd be interesting to see if the buyer makes fan-movies of him.

I'd sell both my kidneys, most of my blood, one of my lungs and whore myself out to a thousand fat chicks XD just so I could drive around "punishing" and "enslaving" all those stupid drivers on the roads. Plus it's be pretty bad ass in my driveway.

I can't believe someone is actually going to pay $65,000+ for this. For that kinda money you could have pay to have a 1000hp+ custom car built from the ground up, any car, any motor, any way you want it. Stupidity is amazing.

I like how someone ask a question regarding Carfax, that's hilarious. Dude, if you're worrying about carfax, you shouldn't be driving a car like this! :D

And Sideslap, relax man, it dosn't take all that to have a fast ride. All it takes is a job, a car, some parts and some time. A car like this Mustang might get you some oohs and ahhs from people who don't know anything about cars, but it won't get you true respect from car guys. You gotta have your own car, something you put together yourself to get that. That being said, it would be fun to take Barricade for a spin. Or two. Or three. Ok, I'd roast the tires right off it, and I'd love to see the look cops gave me as I drove by in it, that'd be priceless. :)

How is $65,000 for this stupid? This year S302 Saleen Mustang was like $80,000 new. Seems like a deal since A.) Special edition Mustangs do end up being collectables and B.) Movie props also end up being collectables and are thus worth more.

And saying you can build any car into a 1000hp+ custom car from the ground up for $65,000 is extremely innacurate.

So many people debating about if Barricade will be in TF3. Did anybody mention the car is BAD ASS ???

$65,000 is actually a fair price considering the car was in a major motion picture and has a custom paint job that is exclusive to the movie. It's not like the Bumblebee Camaro that got a special "Transformers Edition" that you can order for a couple grand more. But for that price I would rather have an Escalade on 26's, ya digg ???

I don't think this will meet the reserve. The seller is going to want more for it than he will possibly get. I am actually surprised that the bidding is up to $65G. Maybe Planet Hollywood is trying to buy it...

I pulled up the Motoexotica's website, and they have some interesting cars. They have a nice Batmobile Replica!

This car started life as a Supercharged S281, later known as the S281 Extreme. Base price before any upgrades would be around $45-47G. It should be rated at around 500 bhp (SAE net).

I do agree though, that it is pretty well impossible to custom build a 1000bhp from the ground up for $65,000. That is simply not going to happen.

it's amazing what being in a movie does for a car's value.
this particular car, I would pay 65k for easily, if I could afford it without letting things go.
it's fucking barricade forcryingoutloud.
I saw that new show on sy fy the other day about movie prop auctions... you would be amazed. 80k for a gun prop from "lost in space" from the 60s.

as for 1000 hp.... not many engines are even capable of that no matter how you build them... toyota supra springs to mind though.

EMD 710. :P (Because I fervently belive we need more trainbots in this world)

I too was worried about the reserve. We'll see what happns to it in the next 19 hours. But I'm inclined to believe it won't hit the reserve. Still, nicew to know that Barri is "out there" and there's someone eilling to part with him for the right(ously insane) price.

Most US States have "blue light" laws, keeping you from having light on your car that could be mistaken for law enforcement. This would definitely fall into that category. Plus, I suspect you'd get in trouble for impersonating an office.

Very cool though and would make a great display piece in a killer home theater/man pit and would also be a big hit on the car show circuit.

Visit any dragstrip on any weekend and you'll find several 1000hp cars that were build for far LESS then 65 grand. And yep, from the ground up. Also keep in mind that the supercharger is missing from this car if you read the details, which means it's pretty much a stock mustang, so about what you're getting is a paint job, a light bar and some stickers for your money.

Whenever you're buying a *new* car with "performance" packages, you're always paying way more than what you're actually getting performance-wise. Example, your $80,000, 500hp mustang vs my old truck with it's $2500, 400hp+ engine. Ask anyone who races and they'll tell you the same thing.

Lamborghinis, Vipers, Farraris, Saleen, all these "exotic sport cars" are aimed at rich people who have tons of money to throw away and just wanna look cool to their other rich friends, or to help them pick up their girl-of-the-week. Remember that scene in Fast & Furious were Vin Diesel talks smack to the guy in the Lamborghini (or whatever it was)next to him at the stoplight? Yeah, that's about as much respect as you'll get from most car crowds if you show up in one of these.

I race and I disagree with that. I go to the drag strip quite often and most and most cars that are 1000hp have over $100,000 into them. An to be honest, most of the exotics get more respect then the drag cars because people are impressed that people are using the cars for what they were inteded. And if you drag race 1,000hp car, you know that things break and the cost to maintain a car during racing season adds up pretty quick.

Umm... I doubt it. 5,6,700hp maybe. But it takes quite a bit of know how and money to get over 1,000hp. And anyways, those are purpose built drag cars. Most couldn't go around a corner to save there life, and are not street legal. And if they were, their stripped down racers, that you wouldn't want to drive more than a trip to the local hangout. Now, can you build a nice performace vehicle for less than $65k? Of course. But its not going to be easy, and its going to take some time. Alot of it.

Liftgate wrote:Also keep in mind that the supercharger is missing from this car if you read the details, which means it's pretty much a stock mustang, so about what you're getting is a paint job, a light bar and some stickers for your money.

...All true. But thats not why people buy cars like these. They buy them because of the history they were apart of. Their colectability. The rareity. The performace aspect of it has nothing to do with it.

Dude, you call yourself a car guy and you quote a scene from "The fast and the Furious"?? :BANG_HEAD:
While yes, many of the cars you meantioned are overpriced aimed at people with more money than sence, you'd be hard pressed to find cars built privately that can compete with the likes of Saleen's, some Vipers and Corvette's that are well made, pretty to look at, and can go around a corner, and pull off an 11 sec. quarter mile time... on street tires that you can drive to and from the track. The Z06 was an amazing value for the money, and the Viper ACR is a purpose built machine designed to compete in SCCA racing. Heck, it set the record at the Nurberg ring for the fastest production car. (its since been beten by a porche which cost almost twice the price i believe). You'd be very hard pressed to build a vehicle for the same price that could lap in the same time.
And you'd be wrong about the respect level as well. A true car guy reconises any make and model that has a level of performace and an owner that knows his stuff. just cause your truck has 400hp doesn't mean your going to get respect from other car guys. Knowing your stuff, being respecfull of other makes and models (it does no good to smack talk the Viper that just pulled in when you have no chance of beating it)and backing up your talk is what gets you respect. Not building the most power for less.

I will jump in this conv as the owner of a saleen. A brand new saleen in 05 would be about 50,000 and that is a non supercharged car, i could pretty much say the car used for barricade was not even supercharged since there would be no reason for it.

saying that , saleen are well respected and bought as collectibles. a 04 mystic cobra saleen sells for about 65,000 still used, and there was 3 made. Since this is a genuine movie car, it is prob worth closer to 100,000 than 65,000. I would not be surprised to see this care sell for over 100k.

Why he calls this street legal i do not know , since you cant drive it as in on any street legally. Im also curious to how he got this car, cause I was almost positive saleen took back all 3 cars after the first move, cause they even had the at saleen shows, but where it said police that put the work saleen.

I was pretty sure I'd catch some flak for my remarks, I'm not surprised. Fast & furious is a crappy movie that does little to show what owning a fast car is really like, but everyone has watched the movie and that one scene does illustrate what I was saying pretty well, and there's alot of other guys besides myself who feel the same way about these type of cars.

It's true, there are afew dudes out there who buy these kind of cars and race/drive it the way it should be, but I think the majority of these wind up in the garages of people who don't, where they sit gathering dust until they're bored with it and trade it in for a newer model or whatever. But I guess that's how that "collector car" junk goes.

5150 Cruiser, I don't think I'm off on the respect thing too far. When you pull up in one of these cars, what do you think is the first thing through other's minds? It's 'Wow, that guy has alot of money!' Now what are they thinking when you drive up in a custom car you put together yourself? 'Wow, that's awesome!' Sorry man, but I'll take the latter any day. There's alot more respect and pride in something that's one off, that you put your ideas, your time, work and money into, something that's your own car. Not something you have simply because your wallet was fat enough.

I do respect all models, but as far as owners, if he really knew his stuff he'd know he didn't need to drop that much cash to get that level of performance. For the $80,000, heck for $65,000 or whatever it's bid up to now, I could build two of my dream cars, both of which would leave a Saleen in the dust. Now I wonder who would get the respect there? If you're the type with money to burn, or don't know a torque wrench from your big toe, then by all means, a car like this is for you.

I like this car because it looks mean, the paint job and styling are all great, but as far as performance, its original cost and what you're getting now? Gimmie a break. I'm not saying it's junk, I'm just saying it's not worth the money.

On a different note: Light Bars. Probably varies state to state, but I bet if you put a faux one on there you'd be good to go. Or maybe something without blue&red showing?

Not something you have simply because your wallet was fat enough.

if you change the light bar it's lost it's value. for a movie prop to retain it's worth it needs to stay original.
it's not being sold for it's performance value but for it's "collector car junk" value.
you seem to be misunderstanding that this wouldn't show up at your local Drag-strip. this would get hired to appear at World of wheels or the "what ever the crap big city you are near" auto show. the car is worth 65G or better because you could make it back with hiring it out for appearances. it's a piece of history not a declaration of how big your wrench is! ;)

Here is a pic after saleen got it back and made it street legal, notice the bumper number matches, one of the other car numbers was like 934.

There's no police lights, either. ;) Guess the sellers read the guy-who-made-his-own-Barricade-for-his-kid-and-got-arrested-for-driving-it-around article.

That's not true. This is not the case anytime I have been to a drag strip, the expensive cars (especially modified) always draw a huge crowd. And seriously, most "custom cars" I've seen tend to have years of labor and a ton of money in parts.

redsaleen wrote:I will jump in this conv as the owner of a saleen.

The car, infact, started out as a supercharged car, which would have retailed for about $47,000 in '05 (which I stated earlier). For the movie, the supercharger was removed which was stated in the information about the car. The supercharger is not with, and it will not be included with the car.

What did it end up selling for, anyway?

As for 1000bhp for $65,000........complete car, nope. I'm with GD on this opinion. I would seriously like to see it for myself.

And thats your right to feel that way. If you don't like those types of cars, then thats cool.

Well for the most part i can agree. If you put a nice custom 70' Chevelle SS 454 next to a Stock Ferrari F430, chances are my attention would be focused more on the Chevelle rather than the Ferrari. But thats just because i preffer muscle cars. But Others might preffer the ferrari for there own reasons. Maybe they follow racing and there a Ferrari fan. Or maybe they just like the looks of the car. Either way its not fair to write off someone ass buying somthing just because there wallet is fatter than yours.

Again, its not all about performace for some people. Its about having an exotic, well balanced all around ride. I'm sure you could build two of your dream cars for the price of a Saleen. But you'd be preety hard pressed to match, let alone beat the all around performace that the Saleen gives you. Now yes, there are many that are well over priced, but for the most part these cars offer alot more than just straight line speed. If you honestly tried to build a car that was fast in a straight line, handled well, could brake from 60-0 in less than 100ft, that you could drive to and from the track, and was comfortable at the same time, you'd quickly see just how expensive it can get. They offer build quality that can't be matched by your average wrencher.
Also, i really don't think its fair to say just cause you own an 60+K car that you can't wrench. In fact, most people i know with exotics (one of my old investors raced his Viper) they were very mechanicly inclined.

I've built a few cars over the years. Some performance oriented, some show cars. But over the years iv'e gained alot of respect for some of these exotic cars. Alot of people buy cars like these because of what they offer right out of the box. I can't blame them for that. Can they be beat for less? Sure. But that doesn't mean the one who bought the exotic doesn't know anyless about cars than you.

oh no? you should learn. driving can be so wonderful!

Certain traumatic events that took place a long time ago put me off the whole learning to drive thing but I suppose it's been long enough and since moving to a lil village type area having that ability sure would be useful even just for finding work and the buses are unreliable and massively overpriced here.
