In an interview at Sci Fi Wire John Voight has confirmed that, if he signs the papers, he will be playing the secretary of state in the forthcoming Transformers Movie.

Jon Voight told SCI FI Wire that nothing is finalized, but it looks likely that he'll be joining the cast of director Michael Bay's upcoming big-budget Transformers: The Movie. "I'm playing this ... well, we haven't signed the papers yet," Voight said in an interview. "But it looks like I'm going to play the secretary of state."

Dispite some errors in the article, i.e Jerry Bruckheimer has nothing to do with this movie and the lead is called Spike (not Sam), it's safe to assume that Voight's testimony confirms he has been offered the part and is considering taking it.
