I'll honestly admit it. I did not expect 2010 to be that strong of a year compared to 2009. Well I was completely wrong there. After living and breathing the Transformers lifestyle for the past 12 months, it feels like Transformers has gained a new level of popularity, and another level of excellence. 2011 brings mystique and new horizons. Yet if it's anything like 2010, then we are certainly in for one heck of a ride.
Can you believe it? We're about to enter the 27th year of the Transformers franchise! While franchises have become defunct, or have fallen off the face of the Earth, we have stood strong together. Certainly it hasn't always been pretty, take the transition from Generation One to Beast Wars, or the split-opinion on Michael Bay's Live-Action films as examples. However as a long-time fan and member of this site, as long as Transformers continues to be what it is - the heroic Optimus Prime fighting against all odds, or that joy you get when you open up toy packaging - then every year will be a great one.
Before we embark into 2011, I think it's suitable that we celebrate 2010. With that notion, I have the help of eight of my fellow staff members - Burn, Counterpunch, Dead Metal, Delicon, DevastaTTor, Diem, Mach, and Razorclaw0000. Before you get to know their Transformers tastes, let's get to know a little bit more about the people who help maintain Seibertron.com and assist this wonderful community!
- I'm Blurrz, from the land they call Canada. Armada crazed, and you don't need to guess who my favorite Transformer is.
- Burn is here to give us his "disgruntled" "I-like-my-TF's-as-bricks" opinion. We're not actually sure what he does on the staff though!
- Counterpunch has a knack of making other people buy Transformers. He also keeps the forums safe with burning justice, or was that Punch?
- Dead Metal is crazy, from Germany, and he helps out the news crew while most of us are fast asleep. Did I mention he's crazy?
- Delicon is a humble Transformers fan from the Northeast United States. He keeps the news up and running.
- DevastaTTor has this addiction to collect transforming plastic toys. You might have heard of it.
- Diem spent most of the year in Takara territory, and made his way back to the US later on. He got married this year, so congratulations!
- Mach keeps the news looking mighty fine from Singapore. He's an Optimus Prime fanatic, he probably has more blue and red trucks than you!
- Razorclaw0000 is a big contributer on the News Crew, and still has the time to maintain one of the most comprehensive Mini-con collections in the world!
Now that you know a little more about the staff, here's how we're going to reflect on 2010. We're each picking our favorite candidate for the following categories listed below. Once you're done reading our input, we'd like to see yours by replying in the forums through the 'Discuss This Topic' link above. Early this year FansProject surprised us all with a third party figure, Warbot Defender, who bore more than a slight resemblance to a certain sarcastic triple-changer Autobot. Now Seibertron.com is pleased to present its extensive gallery of the figure. Click on the images below to see the full gallery:

RenderForm, the high-end garage kit company by Seibertron.com member
Venksta, has tackled the impossible - giving Blaster fans
every possible head they could ever want, and a reason to actually own the uninspired 2008
Universe Blaster. Dubbed "RF-003 DJ Rockblast", this kit will convert your mediocre Universe Blaster into everyone's favorite Cybertronian Hipster (or brooding loner) - G1 Blaster.
Choices, Choices
Few other characters in Transformers history have been portrayed as inconsistently as
Blaster.
His
toy appearance features eyes inset into a visor, rounded head, straight ears:
His
cartoon designs generally show him with a smooth face, rounded head, and angled ears:
Finally, his
comic appearances take a radical departure, showcasing a red and yellow face, and squared off ears:
Although, in his
IDW Spotlight, Blaster returns to his toy form, but with the original comic squared off ears:
So, if you're a Blaster fan, but not a fan of the toy, you may despair to yourself at night, believing you have no alternatives. You would be wrong! The DJ Rockblast kit comes with heads, visors, and faces to reproduce any comic and cartoon appearance!
Just take a gander at these:
Comic head
Cartoon head
IDW head
Renderform has built a clever set of interchangeable faces and visors, which slot in securely to either version of the helmet. A full set comes with three faces, four visors, and two heads for maximum Blaster customization. Every one is excellent and expressive, they fit together snugly and feel durable. These are hand painted pieces with very small details, so I did notice some very minor paint application issues, particularly on the eyes of the visored silver face. There's a tiny spot where the paint didn't stick. However, they still look great!
Unfortunately, the heads are incompatible with Device Label Blaster completely.
But wait, there's more!
In addition to the dizzying array of cranial customizations, RF-003 comes with a correctly sized (though still comically large) version of Blaster's signature Electro-Scrambler Gun. The gun is excellent and weighty with great molded detail. The kit also includes a re-imagined version of Blaster's Action Master Gun, with equally impressive molded teeth and vents. Both guns fit will in any 5mm fist hole:
The kit also includes a Backpack/Weapon which can hold the other guns in robot mode, and store in vehicle mode:
Finally, the kit includes a certificate of authenticity with some wicked CGI renderings of Universe Blaster and a small sticker sheet which can be used to mask off Blaster's tape door to appear more G1 accurate, like the Universe box art:
The kit shows an excellent attention to detail, rivaling FansProject in it's slavish devotion to give you everything you'd possibly need.
It's not all perfect
There are a few slight issues with the kit that I'd be remiss if I didn't point out. I've contacted Venksta about them, and they appear to be inconsistent, so as always, use caution and common sense. Renderform and Seibertron.com are not responsible for any damage done to your figure when using this upgrade.
- The sticker isn't very sticky. Make sure you clean the area first. Also, my Blaster had poor paint apps on the chest door, so it was tough to line up. Go slowly, use tweezers.
- There is some mold flash you may want to sand down gently.
- Be careful when inserting the backpack. The hole in the back is not a 5mm hole, and the backpack peg is graduated, but mine was just a hair too tight and forced the backpack on. My Blaster now has a minor split in the ring. The backpack still holds, but use caution!
- The ball joint for the new heads did widen the neck hole on my figure, and the original head is floppy now. If I wanted to return Blaster to factory state, I'd need a few coats of clear nail polish to build up the original ball.
Despite a few flaws, this kit is a worthy addition to an otherwise worthless figure, elevating Universe Blaster from "meh" to "holy crap". I personally cannot recommend the kit enough, and as long as you apply some common sense and caution, the kit will give you years of enjoyment. I am impressed that Venksta put the care and thought into this set that he did, and am ecstatic to include it in my collection!

Online toy retailer
Captured Prey is apparently jumping into the ever-popular Targetmaster arena with their own new exclusive offerings. Their Targetmasters,
Mastershooter MS-01B Brown King and
Mastershooter MS-01M Mega Gun, feature designs similar to G1 Megatron and come in brown and black or silver and black respectively. The description for these new accessories reads:
Captured Prey wrote:Mega Gun and Brown King are the debut release of MasterShooter Collectibles! Limited in number and made with the expert help of a fan favorite third party company (who has asked to remain anonymous), these figures will be produced using high quality steel injection molds and durable ABS plastic!
Measuring approximately 2.2 inches tall in robot mode and 3.17 inches in weapon mode, Mega Gun and Brown King will be cast in color and pre-painted, ready to make any bot in your collection shake a washer loose with fear when these imposing weapons are aimed at them! Articulated shoulders and elbows allow each figure to aim his own weapon as well, making them the perfect scouts or assassins. The figures are designed with a stepped 4mm to 5mm peg handle, allowing them to be used by original Targetmaster Transformers, and almost all modern figures, too. And, as a bonus, an adaptor is released that allows Classics Starscream or any later version of his mold to carry Mega Gun along with their own weapon under the wing!
Both Mega Gun and Brown King will be limited to 500 pieces each, or produced to meet demand if more pre-orders are received. This item is currently estimated for release early in the second quarter of 2011.
The figures are listed for pre-order for $18 USD when purchased separately or for $35 USD when purchased together.

Ray and our friends over at
RobotKingdom.com have posted some updated images of the upcoming releases from Perfect Effect:
PX-03, PX-04, PE-05, and PE-06.
PE-05 and PE-06 are the Ejector and Rewinder figures, Perfect Effect’s take on Autobot cassettes Eject and Rewind, and are currently only available as a two-pack. The
PX-04 Ultimate set, being sold by RobotKingdom.com as a combo pack with PX-03, is a collection of four figures, Ejector and Rewinder, along with The Sun and The Night, tributes to Sundor and Garboil, that transform from condors to arm-mounted flame throwers and then to missiles.
PX-03, like the PX-01 add-on for Fansproject Shadow Commander, is a backpack for your City Commander that allows him to carry his original add-on missiles, his original large gun, or the Ejector/Rewinder or Sun/Night pairs. The updated images show how all of these new accessories can be mounted to the Commander armor and how Ejector and Rewinder look with Universe and G1 Blaster.
These images can also be viewed on Perfect Effect's blog page by clicking

Thanks to Seibertron.com member El Duque for letting us know that third party toymaker
iGear Toys has updated their Facebook page with new pictures of the replacement head they're creating for the upcoming Hasbro Generations and Takara Tomy United Kup figure (aka Sergeant Kup). This head, which
appears to be a quick swap with the production version, features a more comic-styled look to it including his signature "cygar". Some would also argue that it better captures the gruff nature and battle worn look of the elder Autobot warrior. No word yet on when this accessory will be released or whether it will be an exclusive on the
iGear online store or available from our sponsors. When we know more about this product, we'll let you know!
The images below are mirrored from the iGear Facebook page.

The back-packaging of
PerfectEffect's Ninja and Kingbat Two-Pack revealed PerfectEffect's next project,
Reflector! The SFX Reflector set looks to be a spot-on representation of the G1 character. With new photos posted on
PerfectEffect's blog, we've got a look at the middle component of Reflector,
Viewfinder. Viewfinder is a tad taller than their Shadow Warrior, looks very articulate, and like their other figures, can dual wield weapons. We also get a look at some of the weapons that come with the SFX set. Check out the prototype images below!
