The Tech-Central site, part of TheStar.com has put up an interview with one of the Head Animators of Industrial Light and Magic, Doug Sutton, who was part of the team that animated the Michael Bay Transformers movie.

The article goes in depth about the process on how ILM worked with Michael Bay's team to produce the animation on the Transformers movie. The work that went into creating making the Transformers photo realistic. And what it was like to work with Michael Bay.

"To do the transform, what we did was have the robot model scrunched up inside the car model. Then as the transformation begins, the panels of the car move out of the way to reveal the robot parts and so on".

"How is it to work with Michael Bay? Well, Mike is a jerk! But he’s a very talented jerk — he’s usually right in his choices. You have to understand Mike is a very energetic person, and if he doesn't like something, he'll say, 'That is the most terrible thing I've ever seen! I hate that!'".

Actor Jon Voight, who played the Secretary of Defense in Transformers the Movie, has done an interview with hollywoodscoop.com regarding the upcoming sequel to the Robots in Disguise trilogy. Not many details were released in the interview but Mr. Voight did have this to say:

"This is a big one. It's gonna happen, we're getting ready to go." Although there are no confirmations of what stars have signed on, we have a hint that Jon will be in the second edition

Speculations still surround the whole fact vs. fiction degree of the film with Michael Bay insisting that disinformation is purposely being released to keep us in the dark about the film. This interview took place at about the same time Michael made a comment on his blog stating that all info released regarding the film was false to date, save filming preparations for Philedelphia. You can view the original discussion on that here.

'Music4Games.Net' interviews fan-favorite Transformers music composer Vince DiCola because he is recording a new song called "Moon Over The Castle" for 'Gran Turismo 5's Prologue:

Vince DiCola is best known as the composer for Transformers: The Movie (original animated version) and Rocky IV. Among his scoring accolades, he was a co-nominee for the "Best Album of Original Score Written for a Motion Picture or Television Special" Grammy Award for co-writing the soundtrack to the movie Staying Alive and the song "The Touch" from Transformers: The Movie soundtrack won DiCola an Apex award for Best Original Song - Fantasy/Science Fiction/Horror. Having spent the last decade or so producing music with numerous artists and working as a session musician for various recording projects, DiCola recently collaborated with the Japanese band T-Square for the new arrangement of the main theme music "Moon Over The Castle" for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. M4G caught up with the composer to find out how he got involved with the soundtrack and why he became inspired by the modern age of video game music...

About Transformers music...

M4G: I have to ask a question regarding the many Transformers-based video games that have been released over the years. Was there ever any interest from game developers to have you compose new music for any of these titles? It would have seemed to be the perfect choice for the games.
Vince DiCola: At a Transformers convention years ago a gentleman who claimed to be developing a Transformers-based video game at the time approached me. Nothing ever came of that, however. I would certainly welcome an opportunity to contribute music to any project related to Transformers, considering my history with the franchise.

M4G: Similarly, were you ever considered for the latest Transformers (2007) film?
Vince DiCola: With the help of my long-time friend and manager Robin Garb, my composing partner Kenny Meriedeth and I did submit some material for the 2007 live-action film. We were aware from the beginning that director Michael Bay was specifically looking to distance the new movie from the original animated version as much as possible. As much as I’d like to believe our package at least made it into Bay’s hands based on my history with the Transformers franchise, I have a strong suspicion we were ruled out before he even listened to any of the music we submitted (if he ever even listened at all!). That having been said, many are certainly aware by now that yet another sequel is in the works, and let’s just say I can be persistent!

M4G: To delve back in time for a moment, how did you come to be involved with scoring "Rocky IV" and the original "Transformers: The Movie"?
Vince DiCola: I mentioned my work on the movie “Staying Alive” earlier. That movie was written and directed by Sylvester Stallone, and I had been working with his brother Frank for some time when the “Staying Alive” opportunity came about. As everyone knows, getting ahead in the music business (as with any other business) relies heavily on personal relationships, and I was very fortunate to have had these particular relationships in place when the opportunity for “Rocky IV” came along. (My manager Robin Garb was also the music supervisor for both “Staying Alive” and “Rocky IV”, so that certainly didn’t hurt.)

Read the rest of the interview of the composer of the original Transformers Movie Soundtrack here.

Nice to hear about what Vince is up to lately! 'Dare' and the rest of the original movie soundtrack really scored with Transformers fans, and helped to make that movie what it is to us all. Thanks Vince!

*Thanks to Hans, and others for reminding me that Vince and Stan are indeed separate entities. Apologies to all.

Seibertron.com's own Burn has posted a new monthy E-zine covering info, interviews and a peek behind the curtain of Heavy Metal War. Here is Burn's original post with the updated E-zine:

Welcome to "Behind Enemy Lines", what will hopefully be a monthly e-magazine dedicated to all things HMW.

It began by a suggestion from Hollow One that someone come up with an idea to fill in the gap left by Kamjin and Frontline's disappearance.

Thus Behind Enemy Lines was born. The concept is simple, showcase as much of the talent the HMW playing community has to offer as well as interviews, news, crosswords, well, basically anything that can be crammed into it that people will hopefully enjoy.

And hopefully we'll do it monthly!

As of Issue Zero there is only one full time position on the magazine "staff" and that's myself as Editor and Compiler. Will there be other positions opening up? Yes and No.

Because this magazine will be open to EVERYONE to contribute to. Whethere you can draw, write, photoshop, kitbash, compile a puzzle or whatever you feel you can contribute, you can. This is a magazine for YOU made by YOU. There are absoloutely no limitations on it.

Now I think i've just about covered everything in how this is hopefully going to work, so let me tell you about Issue Zero. It's a "preview" issue, 10 pages in total (including the cover). Seems a bit small? It is, because it's just that, a preview issue, to show you how the magazine will be set up.

We've got a sample of a REALLY old interview from Mkall.
Artwork of Gore.
MTMTE bios from Tammuz
A brief excerpt from JP's story for the "Echoes of the Past tournament.
And most importantly, an update on Alpha Strike!

So enough from me, it's time we got on with the show. At this current point in time you have three options for downloading and reading this comic.

• ImageVenue links, complete with thumbnails. - Just click on them to open them up and read. I went with IV because the files are too large for Seibertron.com's attachments option and too large for Photobucket.

• A zip file hosted at Rapidshare - Just download the file and unzip it and use your image viewing program to read

• A CBZ file hosted at Rapidshare - This is pretty much the exact same file as the zip file, just the extension is renamed. This is the format used for digital comics. To open it you need to use CDisplay to view them.

Yeah, i'll shut up and post now.

[size=200">ISSUE ZERO

{ ZIP File } | { CBZ File }

Any problems with any of the links let me know ASAP!.

NOW GO AND ENJOY!

Seibertron's own Counterpunch has started a series of articles on how we, Transformers fans "have it good".

This series of articles will focus on what was good about certain toy lines of figures, focusing on the positive, rather than the negative.

In his first article, Counterpunch discusses all that was good and right with the Car Robots/Robots in Disguise series.

I'm going to start this conversation with RiD/Car Robots as the basis. Beast Wars was fine and good, but I think of Car Robots as the Preface to modern day Transformers both in style and substance.

When I first saw RiD, I was to put it mildly, blown away. This was everything I had hoped for in Transformers from when I was a kid. Detailed toys, great sculpting, TOYS THAT WERE ACCURATE TO THE SHOW, and a Train combiner! (how f’n cool was that? Seriously, I'm an American kid and we never got that before)

Then, I found out that these toys were complicated. Damn Sideburn is really hard to Transform. What's going on here? Prime and Magnus combine? Megatron is a frickin puzzle? This was way, way more than I remembered from my G1 days of flip the legs out, pull the arms, flip the head, you're done. These toys were engineered in a way that was asking for adult and older collectors to actually handle them. They looked great and were fun/tough to transform.

Counterpunch continues on with the article, which you can check out in full in the original thread, and please feel free to add your comments and thoughts on the topic in Counterpunch's original thread. Please remember that we are trying to keep these discussions positive, in relation to the articles.

The Movie Reporter was also there and had a short video interview with the Blonde, Australian actress. When asked if you would return for the second movie, her response was an unsure "I doubt it".
