Just when you though it was safe to go back in the toy store... Following on from
last month's development where Toys R Us Australia entered administration and was looking for an urgent sale, it would appear that the company was unable to find any such thing and will soon be shutting down entirely.
According to SBS News, all potential buyers have pulled out and the failing company has no other choice at this point. Many of the previous statements applicable to consumers still stand, but now with an ending date. Items of note include:
- Gift cards and vouchers continue to be accepted, as long as customers spend an additional equivalent amount (i.e. to redeem a $50 gift card, a customer would need to purchase $100 worth of product). This will be true up until July 5th.
- Online orders will be delivered, provided the order has been fully paid for and the stock is available. The online ordering system will be closing June 22nd.
- Lay-bys will be honoured until July 5th.
- Workers are expected to "receive all their entitlements from the proceeds of the liquidation and asset sales".
Aside from the closure itself, the big (if expected) news for collectors is that the company's stock will be liquidated through Toys R Us stores. This, hopefully, means upcoming sales, which is perhaps the biggest silver lining to this stormcloud of a story.
Toys R Us Australia is expected to shut down entirely "in the coming weeks", but there's no word yet on when exactly that will be. Rest assured we'll let you know once that information is shared. For now check out our story on
Toys R Us Canada's success if you want a more optimistic spin, and as always, share your feelings on this development in the
Energon Pub forums. And of course, keep an eye on Seibertron.com for all future updates to this ongoing saga.

Thanks to the
Ozformers Facebook page, we have been alerted to a new sale for those Australian members of our Transformers community at the
Big W chain. The new sale, called the Mid-Year toy sale of 2018, will run from June 21st through July 11, and features several deals for those interested in some of the current figures, as well as an older one.
The sale focuses on the deluxes and the leader for both Power of the Primes and Studio Series, with both lines featuring a $5 and $20 price drop for the sale for the above size classes, respectively. Also available on the sale and sort of out of left field comes a sale on the Transformers: The Last Knight Rumble Bumblebee remote controlled figure, which will be marked down $10.
Check out the flyer below, and let us know if you plan to take advantage of the upcoming sale below!

Thanks to a heads up from new user
EmoTim and long time member
Itscramtastic, we have news that Ollies, source of many insane Transformers deals over the past month or so, has advertised that starting tomorrow, the stores will be carrying Titans Return Trypticon for $49.99!
Now this price may not surprise many people, seeing as how we have had sightings of Trypticon at Ollies for as low as $12 in the past month or 2, but this is the first time it is being advertised, and it must be a big deal if it made Ollies catalog. The original price for this figure was $149.99 (instead of the advertised $139.99, which was a price found on later, price lowered units), so this is a $100 savings if you can find the figure! The sale is listed as officially starting tomorrow.
Ready to hunt down the giant Decepticon kaiju? Good luck hunting, and let us know if you find 1 or many more in the comments section below as well as in our
Toy Haul Thread!

In the wake of Toys R Us Rejecting the buyout bid of the CEO of Bratz, the company has sent out an email confirming that, as of today, clearance sales have now reached up to 40% off, from the 30% they've been holding on to for several weeks.
This all but confirms the initial reports of the sales going up 10% a week, as it now appears the chain just attempted to give themselves a head start of sorts by starting the sales at 30% and holding it at that percentage for exactly three weeks. Now those three weeks are up, and we're seeing the discounts raise as a result. Time will tell if this theory is entirely true, being confirmed if they raise the clearance to 50% next Friday.
As it relates to our own fandom, Seibertronain AlvinC reports that Transformers toys are now 15% off, up from 10%.
Stay tuned to Seibertron.com for more updates during the final weeks of Toys R Us.

As is now widely known, Takara and Hasbro are producing toys that have the exact same paint layout and designs, meaning that one no longer has to choose between a Hasbro and Takara version of a character, as both are identical.
However, Takara has still proven to be a good source of new images showing figures properly transformed and in poses and modes that Hasbro might not have shown off. And that bring us to today's news, as we have new images, thanks to Amazon Japan, of Takara's Power of the Primes
Octopunch with Solus Prime,
Battleslash,
Roadtrap, and the
Predacons and Predaking himself!
These new images don't really show us much of anything new with regards to the former 3, but it does give us our best look yet at the Predacons. Of note when looking at these figures is how the combined mode kibble is being put to use, with Rampage's tail forming his gun and combining with Razorclaw's to form Predaking's gun, as well as how Predaking's feet make nice back or shoulder mounted double cannons for Torax AKA Tantrum and Headstrong. We also get a good look at the new Onyx Prime Prime Master that attaches to a matrix ring inside Predaking's chest, sort of making a Beast Matrix.
check out all the images below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

After a long, upsetting demise over the last few months, the next sad chapter in Toys R Us' decline has come to pass. Visitors attending
Toys R Us' website will now notice a pop-up window upon loading the site, noting that the website has been "shut down for any further purchases" - essentially, the company is no longer accepting online orders via their website. Following that is a link to a sparse new website,
goodbuytoysrus.com, through which users can simply track the liquidation sales at all brick-and-mortar locations around the US with a store locator.
The wording of their message does seem to imply that Toys R Us will still honor any unfulfilled online orders placed before this occurred, but there's been no official word one way or the other on that front, so further confirmation is awaited there.
Check below for the full message, and let us know if this will affect your plans at all by posting in the Energon Pub. As always, stay tuned for more Transformers news, however disappointing it may be.
Thanks for visiting. We have shut down the website for any purchases but our brick and mortar stores are open and holding going out of business sales. You can keep up-to-date with this historic sale at
http://goodbuytoysrus.com. We encourage you to stop by your local store and take full advantage of the deep discounts and deals available. Thank you for your business and support over the years.
Sincerely, Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us teams.

For those of you who have been waiting on various Toys R Us stores to start their liquidation sales, though we only have confirmation for the US side of the chain (in the UK, for example, other conditions
apply), Friday March 23rd, 2018 seems to the be the day in which most US stores should start their liquidation sales, according to sources such as
USA Today. The liquidation process was supposed to begin yesterday, but was apparently delayed while waiting for the bankruptcy judge to sign off on the process.
USA Today wrote:Toys R Us delayed the start of liquidation sales until Friday because attorneys were still preparing a court filing for the bankruptcy judge to sign off on the process, said a person with knowledge of the company’s deliberations.
While most Toys R Us locations in the US begin their nationwide liquidation process, a movement has also begun by MGA Entertainment (makers of Bratz, L.O.L. dolls, and Little Tykes) to save Toys R Us, which we reported on in the past 24 hours. More information about the
#savetoysrus movement can be found right
here on Seibertron.com.
Several of our fellow Transformers fans have reported that some Toys R Us locations have not started their liquidation process yet.
Adam Myrick and
Action Figure Insider have both shared that specific stores still have signs posted that the liquidation process has not yet begun. If you are traveling a long distance to get to a Toys R Store, we advise that you call ahead to verify whether or not that specific store has started their liquidation sales process yet.
Let us know what your local store is up to, what deals you were able to find, and how this is affecting the area in which you usually shop and look for Transformers, or if you're directly involved as an employee of the store, by joining the Energon Pub discussion.

Thanks to site owner Seibertron himself, we've been pointed in the direction of an
L.A. Times article detailing an effort to save a majority of Toys R Us stores in the U.S., spearheaded by MGA Entertainment Inc.'s CEO and majority owner, Isaac Larian. MGA Entertainment Inc. is best known for it's line of Bratz dolls, whose entrance into the market dominated by Mattel's Barbie line was once thought foolish, until the line took a good chunk out of Barbies' share of the fashion doll market. The businessman is leading an effort to save over half of Toys R Us locations by pledging US$200 million, and trying to raise the rest of the US$800 million needed through a crowdfunding effort.
"I'm very hopeful" about salvaging hundreds of the stores, Larian said. "I am more than 85% to 90% sure I can get [the buyout] funded."
Saving at least part of Toys R Us' operations not only would benefit Larian's company — which noted it was not financially involved in Larian's effort — but also rival toy makers such as El Segundo-based Mattel Inc., Hasbro Inc. and several smaller toy manufacturers.
"People say that if there is no Toys R Us another retailer will pick up the slack. I don't think so because they don't have the room," Larian said.
Major retailers with large toy departments, such as Walmart and Target, carry about 3,000 fewer items on shelves than Toys R Us stores, said Jim Silver, editor in chief of toy-review site TTPM.com.
Larian is hoping to raise the needed money by May 28th, and if you feel inclined, you can help at the website
http://www.savetoysrus.com, or by clicking the image below
What do you think of his effort to save the beleagured toy maker? Let us know below, and stay tuned to Seibertron.com for the latest news!
