HASBRO DELIVERS THE HOTTEST SPECIAL EDITION TOYS AT SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON, FEATURING TRANSFORMERS, G.I. JOE, MY LITTLE PONY AND MORE


PAWTUCKET, R.I. (June 26, 2012) —In what has become a highly anticipated annual tradition, Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) is coming to Comic-Con International in San Diego, California, with an array of special edition action figures and toys that are set to be some of the hottest items available at the show. This year, the special edition figures are drawn from the lore of some of Hasbro’s most popular brands, as well as eagerly anticipated movies, animated series and video games.

The special edition items will be available at the HasbroToyShop booth (#3329) at Comic-Con International starting on Preview Night, July 11th (while supplies last), as well as in very limited quantities after the show at HasbroToyShop.com. Highlights of the range of special edition toys include a one-of-a-kind chance to own JAR JAR BINKS from the STAR WARS films encased in Carbonite, a huge TRANSFORMERS DECEPTICON ‘Combiner’ figure based on the hotly anticipated video game TRANSFORMERS: FALL OF CYBERTRON, a fan-favorite Pony character from the hit Hasbro Studios produced TV series My Little Pony Friendship is Magic and even a massive vehicle from MARVEL’s THE AVENGERS franchise!

The baddest female ninja around will return in the blockbuster film, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, scheduled to hit theaters on March 29th, 2013 in 3D, but first, KIM ARASHIKAGE is making an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con. As the latest G.I. JOE Comic-Con special edition figure, Hasbro will be releasing two 3.75” movie likeness versions of the fan-favorite ninja. The primary KIM ARASHIKAGE figure is dressed in her classic red ninja suit with a double bladed bisentō, while the unmasked variant is wearing a white outfit and wielding a kusarigama.

Additionally, the network’s website Hubworld.com is now hosting a new and engaging interactive activity, “The Transformers Prime Vector Sigma Bot Builder,” allowing fans to create their own Autobots and Decepticons by choosing from a variety of names, parts and accessories that are representative of the "Transformers Prime" style with the ability to print and share their user-generated creations.



Facebook followers will also be able to extend their viewing experience online through a distinctive new application, “The Transformers Prime Cybertronian Personality Matrix,” which gives visitors to the popular social media destination an opportunity to determine their Autobot/Decepticon classification based on responses to a series of 10 questions. The new app also launches June 18 and will allow Facebook users to post the final results to their own profile. The Facebook quiz sets up the Hubworld ‘Bot Builder’ game as it suggests which class and type of bot to build.

“Transformers Rescue Bots” (8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. ET)

Animated series centers on a group of Autobots charged by Optimus Prime to protect and learn about humans on a technologically advanced island. Teamed with a human family of first responders, they keep peace and safety in their new home. The series is produced by Hasbro Studios.



“The Super Hero Squad Show” (12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. ET)

Marvel’s greatest Super Heroes - Iron Man, Wolverine, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America unite to protect Super Hero City from some of the world’s most infamous villains in an action-packed, humorous animated series aimed at young fans and their families. The series was produced in 2009 by Marvel Animation in association with Film Roman.



“Transformers Prime” (4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. ET)

This isn't Transformers news, but considering the long standing connection between the two fandoms we decided to put this on the homepage. This Summer's highly anticipated G.I.Joe: Retaliation has been delayed until 2013! Despite being a mere five weeks away from the film's release date, the millions already spent promoting the film, and the toys already showing up on retail shelves, Paramount has pushed the release date back until March 29th of next year. The main reason for the delay appears to be a decision to post convert the film to 3D.

Los Angeles Times wrote:The move surprised even the film's director, Jon M. Chu, who early this week still expected the movie to open next month.

In an interview Monday with The Times, the 32-year-old director expressed excitement about the impending release date and a new trailer, and sounded like a filmmaker who felt he had already cleared the toughest hurdles of post-production.

"It's been a crazy journey but we're almost there," he said. "I'm excited for people to finally see it or even finally get a glimpse. I'm really excited about it."

Auto Assembly, Europe's largest unofficial Transformers convention has posted the following update.

We’ve mentioned a number of times over the last few months, but ticket sales are coming in at an astonishing rate for Auto Assembly 2012 – far faster than any other year and we’re on course for yet another record breaking year in terms of our attendance figure at the convention. In 2010 we set the current European record for a Transformers convention with 579 attendees, but at this moment in time we are up a staggering 62% on this point last year, with a large number of people joining us for the first time… and we haven’t entered our traditional “rush period” yet for bookings…

What does this mean for Auto Assembly? Well, at the current rate of bookings, we are well on target to not only beat the record we set two years ago, but to reach a stunning 1,000 attendees at the convention this year. More importantly however is the fact that this is our cut-off point for the number of tickets that we will be selling for the event so there is a very real chance that the convention will be SOLD OUT in advance. If you are planning on coming along, please do not leave booking your tickets until the last minute as we don’t want any of you to miss out on getting your tickets and be disappointed. This is going to be our biggest and best convention ever and we still have a lot more surprises to announce…

The pop-culture phenomenon series “My Little Pony Friendship is Magic” earned two nominations, while game show host Todd Newton of “Family Game Night” gained his second consecutive nomination.

Stine’s The Haunting Hour: The Series” (Saturdays at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT) is produced by Front Street Pictures in association with The Hatchery, LLC. “My Little Pony Friendship is Magic” (Saturdays at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT) and “Family Game Night” (Saturdays at 3 p.m. ET/12 noon p.m. PT) are also produced by Hasbro Studios.
